Didnt they also bring in a coach specifically for Clock Management early on because Garrett couldn't do that either? The gut has had 10 years and has run out of excuses. They had removed every aspect of what a real Head Coach does because he couldn't do any of them besides be a good friend. His roll was basically to clap the whole game. LET HIM GO!!!

It all blends together at this point, but probably. We overcomplicate coaching roles. Ex: What is our obsession with having co-coordinators? A passing game and running game coordinator? Why? It seems we do this with a new spin every few years. Meanwhile, the teams who consistently win have one coordinator and assistants who work for him. No confusion.

Sounds just like what has been going on throughout the whole country.
It really is. Media puts out a sensationalized headline, and a large portion of the public latches onto that headline without reading the content of the article and without forming their independent opinion. And frequently the content of the article doesn't match the sensationalized headline, so people are latching onto something assuming the content says something different than it actually does.

But, unfortunately people don't want to read further, because they are eager to accept the headline at face value, or reject the headline immediately depending on whether it promotes or goes against what they already want to believe. People have really gotten where they don't care about learning anything, they just want support what they want to believe, and immediately reject what may shed a different light.

Doesn't matter who's calling plays. It's still Garrett's conservative idiocy--his archaic playbook, him still refusing to adapt to anything and making inexplicably boneheaded game day decisions. He's called plays before and it was same old same old same old. This whole fiasco is beyond ridiculous. It's laughably amateur-time.

If JG didn't like the fact he couldn't call the plays for his last season, why didn't he just asked to be released and get another job? Isn't he supposed to be coveted by other teams?
This weasel basically stayed on to collect a check and now he's lobbying to do the same for another year.

Jim Garrett: brother Jason, have you secured the video?
Jason Garrett: Yes brother Jim, it's in living color, we got him.
Jim Garrett: great brother Jason , is it one with the dress or the one with the fille de joie?
Jason Garrett: It's both brother Jim. We're in the money.

Read it all...

Arguably, Garrett might have a case for another "let me prove it my way" year deal.

What say you?
This is old news. Garrett called plays from 2008-2013 then the Cowboys hired Bill Callahan. Callahan called plays in 2013. He was stripped of the duties in 2014 but was the run game coordinator with Scott Linehan hired as pass game coordinator (see Demarco Murray and 4 ALL Pro NFL lineman). Linehan called plays from 2015-18, and Kellen Moore replaced Linehan for the 2019 season. Garrett asked to call plays in 2019 after hiring and promoting Boy Genius shows who is the Head Coach, GM, and Owner of the Dallas Cowboys.

Also, Garrett called plays for Son of a Bum that got him fired from 2008-2010. After calling plays that got Son of a Bum fired going 6-10 in 2010, Garrett then called plays resulting in 8-8, 8-8 before hiring Callahan who is credit for change Dallas to a run culture offense.

So this report and Jerry Jones revisionist history to keep Jason Garrett as quasi head coach is Babe the Big Blue Ox grand canyon size crap of manure that does not grow or flow.

What does calling plays have to do with ST and defense?

This symbolizes exactly what is wrong with this organization as a whole. JG is a coach with no authority, if he didn't like what was going on with the playcalling he should have taken it away from Moore, but we all know he didn't have the authority to do so.

Dallas basically has 3 coordinators and no head coach setting the agenda or tone.

He already failed calling the plays which is why the Cowboys brought in Linehan in the first place.

Jerry is Uncle Jack and Garrett is Walt telling him he lied to him and has been working with Jesse this whole time.

And now we're probably at this point:

So, in the last year of his contract with no immediate expectation for an extension, Garrett wants to boost his chances (in his mind) for a new contract by calling his own plays.

At this point, it seems a very reasonable request given the "prove it" nature of 2019. In a not so surprising move, Jones refuses Garrett's request and, adding insult to injury, appoints boy genius Moore as OC.

I have to stop at this point and ponder just what the heck was going on here?? It's always dangerous trying to predict what Jones was thinking, but...

If Garrett was truly in a "prove it" year, why not roll the dice and let him call the plays? I think Jones was so confident of the team talent that he thought that the team would coast through the NFL East with no problems. I also think Jones didn't completely trust Garrett with play-calling and believed the boy genius label banded about for Moore.

I truly believe Jones is in shock with the 2019 season. Yeah, the offense did well in terms of total yards, but failed to come up big in critical games. The defense, on paper, wasn't bad but, like the offense, failed to come up big at critical moments. And then there is the ST.

At the end of the day, Garrett didn't "prove it", Moore wasn't quite the boy genius, and the talent didn't win the East.

Basically, everything Jones had hope or banked on failed. So, why is he so seemingly reluctant to let Garrett go?

This story pretty much sums up why Dallas is a failure. Garrett was in a lame duck year and was rejected the right to call plays to save his own job. On top of it he was forced to work with a rookie OC who was forced to use Garrett’s playbook. Everybody is handcuffed and nobody has the authority to do anything about it. This is just the offensive side of the ball.
