makes me wonder if they already got an answer from Meyer and Riley.
I doubt we had any serious interest.
Mostly media driven

Please hire a defensive minded HC. The offense is ok, the defense needs a complete overhaul and has needed one for years now.
The Dallas Cowboys are intensely focused on head-coach candidates who have extensive NFL experience in the role and a track record of success, which is why former Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy and former Cincinnati Bengals coach Marvin Lewis were interviewed this weekend, according to a source familiar with the search for Jason Garrett's replacement.
That profile would eliminate NFL coordinators with little or no head-coaching experience and any of the much-speculated college coaches, such as Oklahoma's Lincoln Riley, Baylor's Matt Rhule and Florida's Dan Mullen.
Am I the only one reading between the lines of what this means if it's true? They're looking for a guy they won't feel needs babysitting, One who's seen all the ins and outs of what it takes to get to the next big-time. Also sounds like they're planning to give this guy keys and get the hell out of his way.
Trust me .....they have their eyes on a dark horse we're not hearing about. Think about, for a couple of guys whose been tight-lipped the last week or about Garrett, suddenly leaks a profile of their desired candidate and make no bones about it, they leaked it. Remember, they're the only two that know what they are looking for.
Who???????? No idea but I'm 100 confidence there is a lease a couple guys on other teams they would love to have.

I wouild be shocked if that were true. The media is probably wrong when speculating more than it is right.Last night jubilation in JG finally gone, sickness this morning hearing that Marvin Lewis is a real candidate
Cowher could have had any number of coaching gigs over the last 13 years, so odds are he doesn't want to go back into coaching. If Urban Meyer ain't in play, get Bill Cowher.
The Fan just reported that McCarthy is already reaching out to prospective staff.
Could be a done deal *shrug*
How does they agent of a coach that is being let go have the clout to force an interview with another client?FYI......Jason and Mike McCarthy have the same agent. So as long Jason was fired, Mike was always going to get an interview. In other words, it's probably safe to say they probably knew they had Mike in their back pocket so I'm not sure he's at the top of their wish list.
Yeah Shan and RJ speculated that Jerry and Stephen dragging their feet for over a week could've made McCarthy parlay that into leverage, since he's been interviewed by more than a few teams.Pathetic if true and what an embarrassment to the organization with how they have handled this coaching "search".

Well jerry did not try to even interview bill, or maybe he did and bill just laughed and hung up?Belichick runs his team much like Parcells did... He's not going to work for a meddler like Jerry Jones.
lol boy were you wrong, this is jerry and he doesnt use logic or common sense. With the exception of Garrett (which Jones hired at light speed) Jerry normally takes a Loooong time to interview and hire a new coach. I think I remember reading it took him 33 days to until he hired Switzer. We are in day 4 or day 5 of this process.
The HC experience requirement does not leave out current coordinators, and at this point most of these guys won't take an interview unless they are either out of the playoffs or after Division Championships. So you'll see people like Josh McDaniels, Pete Carmichael, Dan Campbell, etc. filter in since the Pats and Saints are out of contention. Others will come after they are eliminated or in that 2 week period before the Super Bowl.
I think they'll interview college candidates after they did their due diligence in the NFL, but my gut feeling is this won't happen until they've exhausted candidates with NFL experience.
I think we're just in the beginning and we'll see a lot more candidates.
I kinda think maybe they had their mind made up on the who , if they did let JG walk.I don't know, man. This whole thing is so weird. Maybe McCarthy was their primary target all along? It kinda makes sense with some of the rumors we've been hearing about for the last month or so. I never bought into the Riley or Meyer rumors.
