Jerry might have had a case for putting in only lifelong Cowboys who didn’t run out the door but he threw it out the window by putting in Haley...
Jerry has favored his era players. The only exception with prior eras were players fixing to be inducted into HOF.

And the favor to Roger for heading up the North Texas SB with Drew.

I agree with this, but Jimmy's only occurred because of Jerry. Neither of these guys would be in the HOF without the other....that is undeniable since Jerry has stunk it up since Jimmy, and Jimmy stunk it up in Miami without Jerry.
That’s assuming Jimmy doesn’t come to the NFL regardless of Jerry.

Jimmy was hottest commodity in NCAA. Tex had already talked about Jimmy before Jerry came along. It was just a matter of time before someone gave him a shot.

And the fact Jerry cut Jimmys tenure short here probably has kept Jimmy out this long. If Jimmy coaches a few more years and wins 3 or 4 SB’s instead of 2 he’d already be in.

Jimmy did not "stink it up in Miami". He built Miami into the #1 defense in the league. He was finding guys like Zach Thomas and Jason Taylor on draft day at a time Jerry couldn't find anything. Jimmy's problem in Miami was with a past his prime Marino who couldn't win no matter who coached. Jimmy's owes Jerry for giving him the opportunity to coach and run the the football operations. Would Jimmy have had success if another team had given him a shot in 1989? I wouldn't bet against it. Or, maybe he would have stayed at Miami and been the Nick Saban of his era.

Didnt Jerry start the argument with 500 coaches could have coached Dallas to the Superbowl win?
I don't believe he meant that as a shot at Jimmy, but rather as a statement of how good the players were... What's more, at that point, it wasn't a ridiculous statement. Switzer took over and barely coached the team, yet they made it to another SB, thanks to Aikman, Irvin, and other leaders on the team.

That Jimmy put together. Jimmy built a team that anybody could coach. Well maybe not Garrett. lol And after the next 2 or 3 years was over it was nothing but a declining franchise right up until Parcells got here.

Right .. the “ 500” was more about the team could have won with anyone coaching.

And of course while that was right for 1995 it wasn’t for 1994 which would argue was a better team.

The fact is the departure of Jimmy probably cost us 4 straight. And who knows beyond. 1996 team wasn’t far off.

But at the point in time that he made that statement, he wasn't wrong.

Oh I agree, we probably would have been much more successful with Jimmy at the helm. Unfortunately, he had no interest in staying, even before their fallout.

It's a big who cares? The ROH is an appointment by one person. I could care less who's up there but to deny someone inclusion for personal petty reasons just shows who the man is and his childishness.

The HOF was trashed when they put Booger in it because he led them in avarice and greed. It wasn't for contributing to the game and it should have been reserved for only players, they're the only ones anyone ever bought a ticket or tuned in to see.

It is only interesting now because he was probably caught off guard that Johnson got in and he felt partially responsible for him not getting in because of that tired argument, "he's not even in his own ROH". It's the Ring of Horse****, it is a team game, honor team accomplishments.

We must remember our ROH doesn't really have any significance beyond Cowboy fans. There’s no certain criteria or voting involved. Simply one person deciding the fate which lessens its validity.
there was a criteria under it's creator...Tex Schramm...a very HIGH standard.
have no idea what it is now under Jerry except...don't piss him off.

A private party? Do you know about the event? So does the rest of the world, because there is no privacy in a situation like that.

Do you know about the event? Jerry walked up to a private table which included folks he fired and their spouses and he wants to do a drunken toast while in a drunken stupor. Because Jerry was drunk and lacked any self awareness, especially in front of the spouses of men he had fired, we're supposed to excuse him because he's Jimmy's boss? Please.....

Yep .. Which unfortunately really lessens its value.
I don't know that it does much. I agree that Jimmy should be in, but otherwise the guys in it belong, except, in my mind, Charles Haley, and obviously others will end up getting in. I know there are still some from the Landry era fans would like to see, but there always has to be a cutoff point. And, keep in mind that Jerry has inducted some Landry era players that could have been inducted in the Landry era, but weren't (Hayes, Wright, Jordan, Harris).

He never intended to stay much beyond his tenure in Dallas. It is landlocked and he's a seafaring man.

The process was expedited when he had to be talked into coming into the war room by his DC because of Booger's need for attention and credit. That whole request for Johnson to look at him to send the message that it was actually Booger picking the players was beyond ridiculous. And he can't beg for respect from a coaching staff that has none for him and knows all the details.

Booger is a clown only he's not funny. His constant need for attention from the media and carrying the team along with him has made the team into something beyond a football team. No wonder they struggle, they become stars of the circus without really performing in the center ring.

Big Mike shouldn't have to worry about Booger getting in the way unless he starts off hot and then he will have to adjust that spotlight on himself.

and not just the coaching end...but the stocking of players that FA was ravaging our roster...JJ knew talent he was a master in the draft..He would have been able to fill positions and keep the fridge loaded...Nobody after Jimmy had a clue how to draft...

Keeping him out of the RoH doesn't reflect bad on Jimmy, it diminishes the accomplishments of every other name up there .

Actually he did intend it as a shot at Johnson. He said it right after he was snubbed for being the classless drunk that he is. What people don't seem to get is that wasn't the only thing this guy had done not to be liked by those people. That was just part of it.

It would have taken class to put Johnson in and Booger is devoid of class.

No it doesn't. Every name on their earned their way, and Jimmy not being in doesn't diminish that.

They definitely earned their spot.

But leaving Jimmy off for petty personal reasons changes the perceived criteria to be put up there. So maybe saying "diminishes their accomplishments" was a poor choice of words. It diminishes the honor of having their name up there .

For people that don't know the players, they may look at their names and not appreciate the significance of their accomplishments because they are unsure of why they might have been put up there - or who might be much better that may have been left off.

I get your point, but I think Jimmy is really just an outlier, and overall the integrity of the ROH is intact.
