I think they were holding out hope that he might be able to play when they still had that fantasy about 'making the playoffs'.
What are "playoffs"?. I haven't heard that term much in the last 2 decades

I still can't believe people doubted his neck problems even BEFORE this season. Still unsure how something that he had since he was a child didn't pop up until well after the draft though. Who paid who to keep that quiet?

It was actually well known before the draft that he had a neck issue, but the Cowboys decided to roll the dice anyways just like with Jaylon.

That is why he lasted to pick 19, if totally healthy with no neck issues he would have been a top 5 pick.

I can’t believe they did fusion on him. It’s very likely that this will shorten his career.

Not sure if you're mocking the FO but it was known. Some teams had him removed from their board due to the neck concern.

This. I had disc replacement in my neck for two discs. But that's only been an option for about 20 years or so. And for people whose condition is less serious than others. I have 95% mobility, no pain, and can do anything I want.

Fusion takes away mobility side to side and up and down. As much as 50% in some cases. The recovery time is much, much longer. And some physical activity is limited or not recommended afterwards due to the risk of re-injury.

I'm not going to sit here and say LVE is done. There is no way anyone knows that. But it does not sound encouraging.

While being one of his biggest cheerleader's on the forum for him being drafted, I have pretty much colored him already "gone/ done" in his football playing career,,, was I wrong in touting the merits despite that of his obvious less than credentialed talents? I couldn't care about others opined views concerning that, an I wrong in already writing him off? Well, that's an obvious vested interest of concern , least ways I won't be forced to swallow the bitter pill of disappointment twice,,, best of luck& godspeed #55:starspin:

Where did it say they fused his neck? It wasn’t in the article on the OP. Not saying it didn’t happen— just haven’t seen where the procedure was described. Thanks

For those who believe LB is a strength I got swamp land in AZ to sell you.

it can be a strength if things fall right . I consider it our 3rd biggest concern at the moment behind DT and the secondary

"The hope was he could avoid surgery with rest, but opted for a non-invasive procedure to alleviate the nerve issues he had been dealing with."

Surgery on your neck and back are generally used as a last resort. If you have a disc injury, most doctors will tell you to live with it as long as you can because there are many risks and no guarantees of a full recovery.
