49ers getting way more value. Stupid to pay RBs top dollar when they’re so dependent on the oline.

The 49ers are paying a good bit of money to the running back position. Jerick McKinnon has a good sized contract. Tevin Coleman has a nice chunk of change. I believe they have 3 guys in the top 25 for average salary per season at the running back position.

Ridiculous. Anyone who thinks Elliott is a problem doesn't know football.
Elliot is not the problem. But Elliot is also not the great running back we all thought he was. Keep tripping over his own ego . Same thing about Prescott the kid is a winner but you can’t prove it with the current coaching staff

He’s been a problem off the field since draft day. He was a problem by holding out. He’s been a problem on the field by tapping out. His contract is a problem. The headaches he’s created are proportional to his over sized dome.

I guess I just watch more games than you. Do you watch the competition the rest of the league. Or only during the playoffs. I think the kids would at least stay in as a decoy. No too busy feeding himself

Value is subjective. the 49ers have the 2nd highest cap hit for RBs in the league this season at $12.4 million and next year their cap hit for RBs will be $16.6 million. Ours are $7 million this year and $11.6 next season. They are paying McKinnon(remember him?), Coleman, Brieda, Mostert and Wilson and that cap hit doesn't even include (according to Sportrac) the Cap hit to their FB of $5.8 million. So basically they have a cap hit of $18.2 millon for all their RBs this season and over $23 million for next season. Ours including the FB was $8.7 this season and will be $13.3 next season.

They may not be paying one guy a lot of money but all the RBs they are paying equals a lot more money.

I really like Mostert but Dallas wouldnt know how to use him. I wanted Dallas to trade for him back in August when it looked like Zeke was gonna hold out. I watched Mostert through the pre season and though that he was good. Just like few years ago I wanted Dallas to draft Kamara to pair with Zeke but nope. The Cowboys would of let both these players rot on the bench while Zeke controls the show.
The 49ers basically let him rot on the bench too, he's been on the team for 3 seasons. It took injuries to McKinnon, Coleman and Brieda for Mostert to get any significant playing time. He went back to the bench when those guys got healthy, it's only been the last handful of games he's been finally promoted to starter. Might have taken them a lot of RBs and time to figure it out, but at least they figured it out at the right time.....lol

Exactly. We drafted a powerhouse RB with big play ability at any moment. After one season, we are left with a powerhouse RB. Half of what made Zeke “generational” has been missing for 3 seasons. Still good but not like what we should have expected and contrary to the belief on the board, teams don’t stack the box for Zeke nearly as often as thought to be. Plenty of other RBs see more stacked boxes.

Lol?

I don’t really care what your opinion of Dak is. We can replace his name with Joe Blow.

The point is we have been increasingly more reliant on the passing game more than the run game.

That’s indisputable based on the numbers.

You’re trying to claim Henry just showed up in year 4. Yet he had 1,049 yards, 12 TDs, and 4.9 YPC in just 12 games starting. He had 88 less carries in 2018 than he did in 2019. If you simply project his carries to this year you get EXACTLY THE SAME NUMBERS HE HAD THIS YEAR.

He’s been the same back the past two seasons.
dude miss the point much...jeez

welcome to the NFL year 3 and four derrick henry lmao

all the while Zekes been being productive every ye not two all of them..yes year 2 2017 with all the bs suspensions and mental distractions, zeke nearly put up 1k in 10games has 2 rushing crowns that cold have been 3..his off year is 1400 yards and 12 tds according to this site..

doesnt matter to the who or why , Zeke has been good for 4 years now , henry showing up in year 3 and 4 well give the man some claps Garett lmao like I said henry had a great year, so why does that always lead back to a Zeke comp, ill tell you why its because zeke is the standard by which most backs want to achieve..its durability and consistency..

I said Henrys good but zekes better because hes carried the team since day one not year 4..if his coaches and whomever decided to use him sparingly, well must have been reason.. Zekes racked up big yards and got paid for it..

no we are not passing team, just this season that was a complete FAILED experiment, in 2018 EE was the rush champ and as much as it hurt the team being pass happy I 2019 , zeke still managed to finish 2nd in carries 4th over all just short of 3rd place..if we focused on passing why did we still have a strong run game?

so riddle me this if EE wasn't the focus how did we finish 5th in the league in passing and Zeke had 3 carries less then Henry who was in a run heavy offense? seriously just because dak threw a lot doesnt mean the defenses were keying on him, they weren't ..you keep missing the point..

The defenses focal point on our offense was ZEKE , they wanted dak to throw and he sure moved the ball until it counted against the best teams..then he froze up like deer in the headlights, the defenses won by forcing Dak to throw more and as team we failed.. we should not have let that happen.. it was much better when we keep dak under 30 passes game really 25-27 max and lean on pollard and zeke MORE even in the pass game more zeke more pollard..thats the key..

its fact you let the cousins and prescotts of the world be the focal point , it fails more then succeeds, the DC need to go back to featuring the run game Zeke and Pollard and take pressure off Dak so he can succeed..Daks stats were built up angst the weaker teams and didnt show against the better ones, those defenses set out to shut down zeke and let dak try and win and it worked like charm..it also hurt our defenses having so many 3 and outs or failed drives tooo many FG attempts because Dak coudnt het it into the endzone enough..

daks a good player but should never be showcased lie a mahomes can be..hes not that guy

im moving on from this convo ive grown tired of it..

I watch plenty of football. Apparently all you watched was last night's game. I saw him trying to sub himself out last night after a short run. If the roles were reversed, Elliott could have done the same thing last night had he been on the 49ers. The odds are pretty low that that guy would have produced close to Elliott if he were with Dallas the past 4 seasons. Good for him on his game last night, but he will likely disappear after this season.

Elliott did have more yards from scrimmage than Henry this year. Some comments make it seem that Elliott was 1000 yards behind Henry or is on par with Troy Hambrick.

The Shanahan’s have had a killer running scheme for decades now.

It’s the same scheme that made 1,000 yard rushers in Denver out of no name guys.

They've been doing it for decades. Plug and play. Olandis Gary, anyone???

They are paying 15 million a year on average for all THREE of their VALUE rbs.

Speculation. That’s all it is. I’ve seen Elliot trip on his own ego. More than once. I haven’t liked him from the beginning. That doesn’t mean I don’t route for him. I just think he has no class. He’s not a winner he doesn’t have the heart But again you can’t judge any talent on this team because of the lack of coaching. We’ll see what happens in the future

I envy the 9ers. They really turned their team around by selecting Kyle Shanahan. I knew they were going to succeed with him.
That's half of it.

The owner isn't the GM.

And the GM isn't football ignorant.

Henry has had 1 1/2 great years

Zeke has had 3
Henry rushed for 12000 yards in high school.
Destroyed in college
And has finally been used properly in the pros.

He's an elite talent. The fact is usage rates may vary.
