Yup, dude sells jerseys, doesn't matter that he's average.
I’m willing to bet on the guy who works his butt off and clearly improved as a passer in year 4. He’s already a top 10 QB even if he never gets better, but his arrow’s still pointing up.I get the Dak will be best as he gets better.
That is a myth a bit we all will pray for if he ends up being signed.
Thing is..I have seen every QB this team ever had.
The Staubach and Aikmans were the Golden Grail.
On the other hand, the Meredith, Danny Whites and Craig Mortons hit plateaus as starters.
They got us to the edge of several more SB ops but were eventually let go and replaced.
Dak is very possibly another one of these QBs.
Then there is the money and the cap implications with signing Dak.
I just suggest not romancing the stone with Dak.
For once I want to see a coordinated push with management, coaching and players and fans united in a clear goal we all agree can work.
Too much to ask?
He's not average at selling jerseys.Yup, dude sells jerseys, doesn't matter that he's average.
I really like this post, FINALLY some sense..look AT THE MONEY..lets face it at this point we rebuilding for the millionth time, we rebuild with DAK and his big contract IMHO this will be a huge mistake that will cost Cowboys organization for a LONG time. Look at Mahommes...that's the kind of qb you break the bank for, an arron rodgers, a Drew Brees, a Lamar Jackson, now say these names in the same breath as DAK I dare you......sorry but this post hits it on the head great job man.

You bring up some points.I'm so tired of these posts, they are so blind to how the league and FA market actually work. You guys want to sign some hypothetical "good" QB for $20-25m instead of paying Dak a normal market rate of $35m.
Fine, say the Cowboys sign Teddy Bridgewater (or whatever *insert name* schlub you throw out who would take this money) to a deal for $23m a year for 2 years. That saves this team from the DESTRUCTION you posit in your post in a league where the salary cap is going well north of $200m??
That ~$12m a year in savings is the SALVATION of this team that will then have to bridge the step-down from Dak to Teddy/Keenum/etc?? That money doesn't even get you Byron Jones. It gets you one good starter on Defense. It might barely get you Robert Quinn back. So how do you justify that savings as the boost that gets this team over the hump and saves the Cowboys from this "massive mistake"? Its silly.
I'm fine.Yes sir. It is.
Hope you're having a great evening.
I remember when my older sister bought her first car and it was a Yugo. Please don't insult the above QB.
Comparing Dak to them is like comparing a YUGO to a FERRARI....
Doubt that happens my friend, but- as in all things, we shall see and bear witness.I'm fine.
Waiting for the other shoe to drop with Daks coming deal.
I want 2 #1s for him and we get down the road.
I remember when my older sister bought her first car and it was a Yugo.
I laughed inside so hard.
Like buying those old Novas. It's funny, the Nova being an economical vehicle, Chevy wondered why it wasn't selling in Mexico, or with Mexicans in the southern states.
Well... No va literally means No go.
They didn't trust a car that called itself NoGo.
But everything I read about Dak is he is a blossom of a QB.Doubt that happens my friend, but- as in all things, we shall see and bear witness.
And then comment.
You are a sad man.Keep on kissing the mobs as I know how important it is for you to be liked.
You need to work on your self-esteem.
But then again it's easier to follow then have back-bone.
GL with that....
Just amused at your embarrassing lack of an education.trouble understanding or
Not smart enough to figure it out? Pathetic reply.
I ve been a fan of this team for 50+ years.
Ever since FA appeared, we have tried to beat the system and try to circumvent the rules.
Now the system has boxed us into a corner.
The team has tried Dak as the Franchise QB and just can't get it done.
Multi-million dollar OL..
Multi-million dollar RB..
soon to be multi-million dollar WR..
soon to be multi-million dollar QB
No titles on the wall..
HC and staff just fired.
Sorry.
Paying Dak at this point will destroy this team for the next 5 years or however long Dak is signed for.
The Jones made a huge decision to finally end the Garrett Experiment in favor of a real football coach.
They righted the ship. But now they are about to mortgage all the future on Dak?
Beyond belief to me.
We have worked for decades to fix our cap, draft wisely, hire capable executives like Will Clay to steer the course..
and we are going to sink everything into a 4th rd draft pick who has come up short like Dak has?
Impossible to believe but it's about to happen.
Whoda think it?
Don't want to beat this into the ground but this team is really in a pickle.
Pass the ketchup and chili.
I need something to disguise this hotdog as I am being asked to eat this thing as a fan.
I know there are tons of threads screaming about alternative paths for this.
As I look at teams who have paid their QBs the big contract, I see them on the sidelines and not playing for a SB.
The Vikes, Packers, Commanders, Pat's, Chargers, Carolina and several others nailed to cap numbers that are designed to stop their ambitions.
Only the 9ers with Jimmy G is paid and playing for a title. But look closely.
He did not have a great season. He completed like 6 passes in each half of the NFC Championship.
I think if that is what it takes..
then keep your money Jerrah.
Let Dak walk and find another QB. I could care less if Dak has the team over a barrel or visa versa.
If Dallas pulls the contract off the table..we are free of all this. Dak can hope some other team to spend the huge salaries required to support his average skill sets.
They won't. Plus pay him $35 mil/yr?
Not going to happen.
I would prefer letting McCarthy go find a QB he wants and play ball.
Draft a defense and another QB or sign a FA QB and in a couple of years before all the offensive guys we have signed start retiring. .
we will have a real shot.
For once I want to see a coordinated push with management, coaching and players and fans united in a clear goal we all agree can work.
