I remember hearing from Jimmy Johnson's former players, stating that he'd call them into his office and tell them Jimmy's expectations Jimmy didn't want to hear about what the player had going on in his life. Including family, outside employment, and lifestyles. He'd tell them if it's not about "winning football games" then they can kiss all that other stuff goodbye.

I concur with Jimmy. I don't care about what these players do via Twitter and what self promotion they got hustling. All I care about is us winning a 6th Super Bowl. Everything else is "nonsense."

I hope MM will instill this same attitude in this team.

When the owner decides he’s dealing with a competitive sports franchise and not a monument to how he rewards loyalty and loves his players.

The owner is dealing with a sports *entertainment* franchise. Most valuable in the world.

He probably loves this HotBoyz crap. It's all about the eyeballs.

Hate to tell you, Jason Garrett said about the same thing.

Yeah, I'm 54yo and most people think that Landry was my favorite coach but it was JJ.
I loved the fact that he came in and basically said that if you cant help me win then you wont be around and that helped us get the most out of the talent assembled.
That's what was missing in the Wade and JG era, hopefully MM brings it back.

They need a ... Hot Boyz Time Machine ... to go back to the 1990s when winning mattered to them :D
Could you imagine Jimmy's response to this HotBoyz crap. Also can you picture Charles Haley, Darren Woodson, Jim Jeffcoat, Ken Norton jr running around saying "we're the HotBoyz". I truly think Haley would have beat up anyone on the team for saying that.

But Haley doesn't know the HotBoyz lifestyle, he just knows 3 SB titles and being in the ROH.

It will become about championships the moment Zeke taps out again and sits the rest of the game. In the post game presser, Mike is asked what happened. And Mike says we just weren't seeing the kind of effort out of that player that is expected of a Dallas Cowboy. Zeke complains to Jerry and Jerry tells him that's not his decision. Go talk to Mike about what it will take for him to start the next game because right now, it doesn't look good.

There ya go.

The problem is Jimmy was coaching 25 years ago and the league is now all about marketing. The players are being payed so much money and are no longer allowed to put game changing hits on each other and play violently to intimidate other players. Years ago the way to beat a guy like Mahommes was hit him hard an hit him often and keep hitting him. Your never gonna see that again. Teams would run the ball more just to keep the QB from taking too many hits. With the media and the marketing the NFL is just about like professional wrestling.

This a different generation of players than the ones Jlmmy Johnson was dealing with. They have different priorities, they have different values and they have constant access to different technology. MM has a harder job ahead of him to achieve what Jimmy achieved.

Copy that brother but what I love about Landrys era was it was already understood and nothing needed to be said . To the point he jockeyed QBs in and out every play till he made a decision nobodys feelings mattered it was all about who was going to make the team win .

When your dumb *** owner is giving multi year extensions to a gimpoid linebacker talking about how said player can grow his brand then it's obvious winning isn't important...
