Progress not perfection... but I really like the trend. Hopefully DLaw is healthy and Gregory only has a minor tweak to the knee. Parson and Cox look so much faster at LB then anyone we have thrown out there in years. Is it strange to have some hope for the defense? Diggs looks like the real deal also.

They did look much better. Reacting to the ball, and not having to think before they react.

However, I will still keep my enthusiasm in check until it is for real. But this is a good sign.

As was mentioned last night, I think it was Moose. They do not need the defense to be great to start, that just need them to be average and better than last year.
Then they can win some games. And this looks like a good start for them to achieve that.

I was basically happy with their progress - the third down efficiency was impressive and showed teamwork. The offense basically gave up the Texans' meaningful points. Diggs is a keeper. Parsons is killing it.

The only people that knock Parsons must be getting a check from Smith. There is no comparison. When Jaylon missed the sled 3 times in practice, it was clear he was done.

You really get feel for more press by the line. And they are stuffing the run game.

It's kind of a shame that we have to face the buccaneers in the first game because that could cloud the perception of how our defense is going to really end up being... I want this defense to be able to build confidence, that might not be the game to do it in...

I'm not so sure that the Bucs offense is all that. IMHO it was their defense that led them through the playoffs and superbowl.

Don't wanna rain on anyone's parade here but we were playing one of the worst teams in the NFL.
Tyrod Taylor excuse me, please????:muttley:
This is a very young defense and will need time to grow.
It's headed in a positive direction but the offense also needs to keep up by scoring more points against + .500 teams in the 1st 3 Quarters of the game.
Can't leave the defense out to dry for 3 Quarters as they will break and then were Garbage hunting in the 4th.

The center was disengaging from Parsons to pick up another rusher when he got tossed. So he was already shifting his weight away. Still an impressive play but a little over hyped.

His closing speed after was extraordinary.

I'm just watching the game for the first time now, so I wasn't aware of any hype. Just saw the play and enjoyed it.

@JBond The defense got lucky the WR dropped an easy 3rd down conversion on the second series.

I believe they blitzed on every obvious passing 3rd down. I would have wanted to evaluate the DL getting home without blitzing and evaluate the secondary coverage without a blitz. Missed evaluation opportunity in my opinion.

Gotta admit Risen, I actually saw some DT's making plays behind the LOS last night....Its the Texans but its a start.....I beleive both rookies got some push...

A bunch of JAGs. Maybe Gallimore and Osa can be more than that down the road but I'm not counting on it.

It's a pretty pathetic depth chart. It's like you trimmed off the top half of it.

Cowboys Twitter exploded after that play.
Just got a second look, and I see watch you mean. The center was actually starting to pull away and turn around. Still a good play for Parsons, but not as impressive as it looked at first.
