0/10 Third Down

Progress not perfection... but I really like the trend. Hopefully DLaw is healthy and Gregory only has a minor tweak to the knee. Parson and Cox look so much faster at LB then anyone we have thrown out there in years. Is it strange to have some hope for the defense? Diggs looks like the real deal also.
When a team starts to assemble quality players on each level of the defense, the unit will come together.

It's kind of a shame that we have to face the buccaneers in the first game because that could cloud the perception of how our defense is going to really end up being... I want this defense to be able to build confidence, that might not be the game to do it in...
This is where you can have one of those "moral victories" (yeah, I know). If we do lose, but keep scoring to a minimum, the perception of the D will change and can be a springboard for the rest of season.

Nolan was such a disaster, that any form of competent coordinating and execution by players will look exemplary. I'm glad they made efforts to improve the LB corps and the secondary. Work continues at the DT spots but the D should be much improved. Having a more traditional offseason doesn't hurt either.

Looking forward to seeing Quinn and the defense.

The irony of some posts; if I say the team is competing for a championship, I get dragged. The same draggers find fault with the slightest positive achievement and state that it should be better.

Don't wanna rain on anyone's parade here but we were playing one of the worst teams in the NFL.
Tyrod Taylor excuse me, please????:muttley:
This is a very young defense and will need time to grow.
It's headed in a positive direction but the offense also needs to keep up by scoring more points against + .500 teams in the 1st 3 Quarters of the game.
Can't leave the defense out to dry for 3 Quarters as they will break and then were Garbage hunting in the 4th.

Still!! With our defence for the last 2 years, even being able to say we held an opponent to no 3rd down conversions was a pipe dream. This defence is heading the right direction.

I think we got the short end of the stick when it comes to the pre season opponents.

We got the Steelers, but no Big Ben
We got the Cards, but no Murray
We got the Texans, but no Watson
Now we're getting the Jags, but with a rookie QB

I do think the defense looks MUCH improved, but I wish we could've have seen the defense against an actual starting level QB at least once before the season starts so we could judge them a tad bit better.

I think we are too. I think we lose to San Francisco in the NFCC this year, but next year is when I think we make it all the way And with the SB.

A lot of the teams are not playing starting QB's at all this pre-season. Everyone who got us went up against Gilbert as the starter.

Or it may set the tone for them to take off with a ton of confidence going forward.

I'd bet outside of us every other team saw at least 1 legit starting QB this pre season for at least a series.

We just had bad luck in the teams we faced and when we faced them. The Steelers weren't going to play Ben in the HOF game, Murray played the game after ours, Tyrod is Tyrod, and Lawrence is a starter, but a rookie.

We will find out soon enough!
