Here's a statistical side-by-side of the best receiver in the league, according to their total number of receiving yards--
  • Muhsin Muhammad (1,405 yards)
  • Steve Smith (1,563 yards)
  • Chad Ochocinco (1,369 yards)
  • Reggie Wayne (1,510 yards)
--and Roy E. Williams. How much each player's production impacted their respective offenses is shown. Also included are quarterback ratings and each team's total receiving ranking in the league during that particular season:

good stuff
but what does it all mean?
It's means that with Roy Williams as our number one receiver, we're doomed. Doomed. Doomed. Doomed. Doomed. Doomed!!!

No, actually it means that our offense has a bonafide number one receiver. His numbers reflect that.

The only possible downfall for having him as Romo's primary wide out is the possibility of injury. If he's healthy, he'll get the job done. If he's not, he won't. It's no different that any other team having their number one receiver in OR out of the lineup.

yeah unsure of what you're trying to show here. Looks like Roy Williams put up decent numbers with abysmal quarterback play (Joey Harrington! ew!!)

One consistent thing I see about RW11 is that the guy is a touchdown machine and with Romo he could shut a lot of mouths this year.

Why are people always trying to convince others that Roy is a legit number 1 reciever? The Tampa game will end the Roy honeymoon really quick.

:laugh2: I'm gonna laugh at you when he scores and we win in week one while your boy buffalo bill will lose in week 1.

someone has way too much time on their hands or just discovered Excel.

j/k but Seriously though, these type of stats and comparisons are just too biased to be conclusive. It's one's attempt to paint a pretty picture when they want to but you can do something like this using any player in the league if you wanted to just by bending the criteria a little here and there; number of wins, or 4th quarter production, or average this per that.

I mean, just where do Hines Ward and Santonio Holme's season rank in a pie chart of last season? Nowhere, that's where. Theyd didn't even have respectable fantasy football numbers. Yet they won the Super Bowl, Holmes was named SB MVP and did so against probably the best WR duo in the NFL today (ARI/who had huge statistics in the air). Thepoint is, can you get it done when it counts? Can you be dominant when it's needed? Do you perform when your number is called?
That's all Roy has to prove to me. I don't care if his numbers are lofty so long as the catches he makes are the right ones at the right time.

Until i see Roy Williams make tough catches in big games i will not respect him. I dont not want to like him. I just dont like players who slack and pick up a paycheck. Thats all he has been doing since 2004. If he blows up i guarantee you its because he grew a heart, but thats a very, very slim chance.

All I saw in those stats were playoff teams being compared to the Detriot Lions.

Comments coming from the TO homer should be ignored as regards any other WR. He cannot grasp reality.
