Verman and Parcells were debating if the '07 Pats could beat the '89 49ers. Verman wasn't so sure but Bill took the '07 Pats for the most part. On Friday they will compare the '07 Pats to the '93 Cowboys, I can't wait for the slaughter job they'll do:rolleyes: on my favorite Cowboys team! Why not the '92 Cowboys??? Maybe they're smart enough to know that'll be no contest.

I remember ESPN was stacking up the '05 USC Trojans vs. the greatest college teams in history, then a certain team from Texas beat'em for the title. Hopefully history repeats itself 2 years later!;)

I don't think Texas plays USC for the title this year.

I was a little surprised they picked the '93 Boys over '92 and even the '96 team.

And yeah, I wouldnt mind seeing the underdog Texans doing what they do best. This Patriot talk is getting annoying by now. Everyone who isnt a complete Patriot groupie knows they should be 14-1 after that Ravens game. Hell, if the Colts knew how to close the show and Reggie Wayne was dropping 50 yard gainers, it would've been done. Granted, we've had our lucky finishes too, but we're not chasing "The Pursuit of Perfection".

Of course Parcells is going to pick this Pats team over everyone else... Belichick is his boy -- even though they used to hate each other.

I agree with Parcells about the Pats beating the 72 Dolphins, but I dunno about this Niners team. Montana is the best pressure QB ever, IMO. Jerry Rice is the best WR ever. Ronnie Lott would be cracking skulls. Craig is athletic enough to give those big LBs problems.

And yes, I have no doubt our 92 team would kill these Pats. None.

But there are a lot of parellels between this hype and the treatment USC got. ESPN crowned 'em before they'd even won the thing. I wouldn't be surprised if the same thing happened with the Pats.

Anyone should see that the NFL today isn't the same as the NFL 15 years ago. I think the NFL was at its best when there were 28 teams.

Our 92 team would destroy this year's Pats....if ten games were played, I think our 92 team would win 7 at least.

We would control the ball. The Pats just wouldn't see it enough.

This whole "series" has been about Bill Parcells kissing the 2007 New England Patriots rear ends. It has been nauseating at best.

Screw that. How about when WE beat them. I dont want the Colts having the glory of knocking off the previously unbeaten.

Not me. I think the 93 Cowboys were better than the 92 Cowboys. 92 was more exciting and also the sweetest team to watch but take that team and add 1 more year and you have a better team. That's just my opinion though.

Oh yeah and I agree. That 1992 AND 1993 would smoke this Patriot team. The only difference between that NFL era and this NFL era is the rules such as the 5 yard contact rule. Other than that, the players today aren't that much bigger or stronger, if they are at all than the era of the early 90s.

That's pretty much the way I feel about that team compared to '92. But the consensus by most others is that '92 was better than the '93 team, that's why i'm surprized ESPN didn't pick them. It really doesn't matter I think either the '92 or the '93 teams would beat this years Pats. Heck I think even the '92 and '93 9ers would beat this years Pats team. I have no doubt though that ESPN will have NE killing our beloved '93 Cowboys.

I hear that. My dream scenario plays out like this:

Patriots drill everybody leading up to the Superbowl soaking up platitude after exaggerated platitude...

Michael Buffer: "and in this corner.... the "Greaaaaaaaaaaaaaaatest Teeeeeeeeeeam Eeeeeeeeeeveeeerrrrrrr!!!!"

Meanwhile the Cowboys methodically work their way thru the "little sisters of the poor" conference arriving for their date with "the Greatest Ever".

The Cowboys unleash a serious Can O' Surprise on them - resulting in a sixth ring for our heroes.

Romo and Owens, both smiling into TV camera during post-game Co-MVP interview (arms over shoulders)...

Tony: "Hey - we just beat the greatest team ever...."

Owens: "Yeah - we did...... So what does that make US?... Aw F-it - I'm goin' to Disneyland!!!"

Voice offscreen: "Cut! Cut! Cut!"

Owens (looking over to the side): "Well I am..."

That's exactly what it reminds me of, two years ago when ESPN was asking if the 2005 USC team was the greatest team ever.

BTW, I've missed a couple of these segments? Has Parcells picked anyone other than the Pats?

The only reason I wouldnt want to face the Pats is cause worst case scenario, we're the team that let them complete history in the Super Bowl.

That being said, I think we have a much more favorable match up against them than a team like Indy cause they're so well balanced with their pass O and D. I dont respect their running game right now and that would help us, but the depth that Indy has created with their young recieving core could make it easy for a guy like Roy to get picked on(I dont wanna hear your crap #31 defenders).

NE doesnt have enough talent in the secondary to hurt us if we can get Glenn and T.O. back and healthy on O and a healthy T-New and Henry on D, and as long as we can be smarter with penalties and running the ball with Pro-Bowl Barbarian, we should be alright. We we're simply out coached in that game. Not out talented.

The Pats of today = Buffalo Bills of the 90's. A great team, but one which wouldn't be able to win a SB against teams of the past. We just don't have those dynasty type teams anymore to smash the hapless Bills/Pats in the SB anymore.

I've just about lost all respect for Parcell's football knowledge hearing him giving the Pats the edge over all the greatest teams of the past.

I don't know, I've only seen the 72 Dolphins and this Niners team.

Have there been other ones yet?

I saw the 1985 Bears at lunch today, which, in all honesty, I think could beat this Pats team.

Even Parcells says they could if they got a bit of a lead. A' course then he claims there would be too many holes in their defense.

Of *course* there were holes in that defense. But who had time to exploit them?

David.

Parcell's gave the Pats the win over the Bradshaw Steelers already and said that of all the best teams, the Steelers had the best chance of winning though he'd still side with the Pats.

So watching any other of his matchups is pointless. If his team with the best shot of beating them in his mind wouldn't, then no team would.
