1 Tech vs 3 Tech

If they need 1 tech then shift Vita to 1. Need 3 tech move him to 3. I've seen opponents shifting a player from 3 to NT when Zeke is moved around when Dak motions Zeke back from receiver to RB. Especially Commanders game.

1-Tech or 3-Tech...Speed or Power...1Gap or 2Gap Vita Vea is your answer. This guy will be disruptive and keep those linebackers clean.

How would you compare Vea with Payne? Other than weight, Payne seems as imposing and disruptive as Vea. I'd be good with either at 19. Might prefer Vea though.

Pretty inaccurate to pass judgment on a guy who hasn't played a down in the NFL, and one who is expected to be drafted around the same place in the mid first round where both of the former names were drafted.
Passing judgment? lol

Let's see where he gets drafted first. And it's just my opinion of him. Cox was a disruptive force in college. All I've seen from Vea is a big guy with a bull rush. And he won't do that with regularity against NFL quality lineman.

Not every college player learned the skills to be NFL ready. Have to be coached on that. Vita hopefully can be coachable.

I could certainly be wrong on the guy, I just wouldn't be interested in him in the first. I think he's strictly a 1T. I'd much rather have a guy like Settle or Senat later.

If Vea is there I don’t think we take him. They have someone in mind. They just aren’t sharing. JJ said they will operate without at X receiver this year. Because a draft pick won’t be able to do that this year.

The fact that guys like Dontari Poe had little free agent interest and Danny Shelton was traded for a swap of mid round picks should show us that 1 Techs are just not valued that highly by NFL FOs.

The falcons had the NFL's ninth ranked run defense and the browns had the NFL's seventh ranked run defense. Dontari poe is a two time pro bowler and he recently signed a three year , 27 million dollar contract with the panthers.
Your right though, clearly he isn't talented at .
Star lotueleli recently signed a five year, 50 million dollar contract with the bills.I'm not sure but maybe he had a role to play in the panthers having a top five ranked run defense.
The fact the cowboys signed Brian price early in the season and recently gave h a extension
Suggest their views on DTS may be changing. Also remember the cowboys were said to be interested in Marcel darius before he was traded to the jaguars.

You picked two JAG's. Interest in JAG's is generally mediocre.

Poe made the Pro Bowl on name recognition. He's just decent.

Star is a much better indication of how top NT's are valued.

I'm a huge 1 tech guy, and I think Vea is more of a 2nd round talent. Why? Slow get off. IMO, Vea isn't quick enough off the ball to take in the first.

Vea had twice as many sacks(15) than Cox had in College(7.5) while both playing 3 seasons.

So Cox was a disruptive force in college, what was Vea?

It's not about counting sacks. It's about examining skillsets and determining success based on how that skillset transfers to the next level.

In this case, Vea was disruptive purely on his ability to push people backwards. He's not quick off the ball and won't be able to bull rush at will as he did in college.

It's not just bullrush, dont fall for that.

He has the best hump move I've seen of a prospect in many years. His diverse pass rush moves, along with his very good first step will translate great to the NFL.

I am not giving up my 2nd or 3rd rounder for a guy who had 99 tackles and 9.5 sacks in THREE YEARS (37 games).
I don't want to see them trade up for him, but the numbers are misleading. He is the only defensive player that I would be excited about if they draft him. He is a beast and he could have more impact than any defensive player in the draft.

Not true. You can collapse the pocket by pushing your man into it. Go watch some Vince Wilfork tape and get back to me!!

Let's start with learning what the definition of penetration is..then we can move on

Understanding Jerry speak is a chore, but I believe he meant the team wouldn't have a pure 'X' akin to Dez Bryant this season.

Allen Hurns is definitely capable, but he has also done really well working out of the slot, so he isn't just an 'X' receiver.

Noah Brown is also an 'X" receiver, he's almost as unproven as any rookie that gets added to the mix, though.
