1 Tech vs 3 Tech

LOL.......ah cuz you say it does? Too funny. Whether he was the best or not he wasnt very good. That is my point.

But that wasnt what the original poster had said...? So it doesnt really matter what your point is if that wasnt the subject at hand LOL

Vea had 9.5 sacks. Stats wise they were about the same.

But Coxs game translated better to the NFL. Vea is a one trick pony.
Although i agree that he has been limited to what his team asked him to do, he did those things well...He has room to get better in the NFL..Rod loves him already..Gave him homework..lol..I hear you though..My DT is DaRon Payne..However the only way Dallas picks a DT is If Ve is avail or he falls closer. They like him though!

Thats what happens when you butt into other conversations. HE made a point, I made a counter point. Happens all the time. I just cant believe I am actually talking to someone thats name has anything to do with Quincy the bong Carter.

They have not had a real monster DT in forever. Poor Collins was out of position last year but they like to do that here. Get guys in spots where they do not excel and than chirp about position flex.

The issue there is the same as many teams in the nfl..They devaluate a dt that doesnt rush the passer...Its funny because penetration by the dt is a subset of what a tackle does..Anchoring for the Double is as well, But they are not going to get doubled every play, and who says they would be the subject anyway..You have to ask yourself, what is the tackle being asked to do, and does the one tech either show the ability or the authorization to rush the passer..One techs can also play a big part of taking pressure off ends, and chaos in stunts..

Three techs are generally located on the right side, and say in the Cowboys scheme they need to penetrate and are asked to rush the passer.. Marinelli likes the quick first step, and in lieu of a big tackle with speed, he prefers the tall tackle with quick first step and weight about 280-300..

His guys are capable or have the body type of an end..So What you generally have is rotation guys that can move in or outside to play both end and 3tech.That is why they covet the three tech

LAST THING..Due to the nature of the position one techs dont last long..Carrying around that weight is detrimental to their legs and knees, feet....Of course this is the same for all dline, but you cant afford to invest long term because of the injury poss and of course pure one techs usually dont rush the passer much, or at least thats the view..They are not asked to..And teams will rotate them out on obvious passing downs to get a pure pass rusher in..Vea is three down player..Can penetrate in the pass rush and get pressure up the middle where the qbs hate it.
.

Which is why rumors have him being the #1 guy they want in the draft, followed by LVE and Moore?

Please post more Bluefin.

I AGREE BLUEFIN but this doesnt account for non obvious passing downs where an offense might screen ya or run counters or draws...Rod is not the one that is down on one techs..Its the philosophy of the Cowboys, and alot of teams in the Nfl..Especially Stephen, who uses it as a way to devalue the skill to pay less...

Marinelli in lieu of having a true one tech will recommend a smaller tackle with guick step of say 6ft to 6-2 about 300 to 310 that in my opinion doesnt hold up well to bigger guards and doubles..

I admit the tackles of that size with technique and quick step can be successful with coaching but fatties are more consistent with weight..However most of the time slower!

That is not how it works. For example...

We drafted collins in the 3rd round and he had a great rookie year getting 5 sacks playing the 3 tech. Now his second year people say he sucked cause he was moved to 1 tech out of need. 1 tech guys don't usually rack up much stats. McClain was the best 1tech we had in recent years, able to take on 2 OL shed and tackle rb's. Most just aren't that good as their college production is misleading.
This is true, However mclain was injured two out of three years he was here..Played like a beast the contract year, we tried to retain cheap because of that reason, he bolted to washington and proceeded to get hurt there..

Now you see why Stephen takes that tact with all of them and devalues the one tech...I dont think you paint them all with the same brush but Stephen does..

One note on the hype lbr..We are drafting for depth at lbr not as high a need there.Although Lve could have some benefit as a coverage lbr, i think he lacks skill or coaching in the area of attacking the point whether this is a technique to stay free to pursue or just bad mechanics, im not sure..He was playing Mlb in college but only starting one year..I see him as a outside lbr or sam in the Nfl or Weakside..He is sound in position, doesnt get fooled much, but gets locked by Guards and gets washed.

Either way i dont draft lbrs in the first round that are not plug and play..Either because they will take time to integrate or because our need is depth..The Bpa crowd will call this wrong but i dont have a first round quality on him..His value is 6-5 and 255..And alot of fans who are hypnotized by that, not his tape..
