3. The reason why the Giants let him go is pretty crazy

That longest stint with an NFL team? It ended because of a clash with a teammate over a pair of headphones.

According to nj.com's James Kratch, Moore called into an ESPN radio station and confirmed that the Giants let him go after he got into a fight over some Beats By Dre headphones with teammate Cullen Jenkins. Apparently Odell Beckham Jr. brought a bunch to give to his teammates and Moore got none while Jenkins grabbed multiple pairs.

From Kratch:

Moore did appear to suggest, however, that there was an ongoing conflict between him and Jenkins. At one point during the interview, Moore said, "the crazy thing was, I don't really necessarily look at it more as over a Beats By Dre headphone," but more of a "compilation" of issues. Weatherford then asked him directly if it was an issue of respect, and Moore agreed.

"Yeah, it was more of a respect thing," he said. "It was, you know, a combination of things that build up over time. And the way the situation fully just unfolded and evolved, I just felt like, as a teammate and a brother, things should have been handled a certain way. But also I should have handled things in a certain way, maybe talking it out a little more and walking away from it."

Moore also said that he doesn't think he was released for just that one incident in particular.

"Honestly, I think it might have culminated over time," he said. "Like I said, I've been a firm believer in what my values are ... you make your bed, and you've got to lie in it. By no way was I a saint. I had a lot of learning curves and majority factors. I've grown over the time and I felt like, you know, things just ran its course. It happens in this game. As you know, it's very rare that most people spend their whole career with a certain team. I think it just ran its course. Not to take anything away from them, they may get a great person and a better man ... they helped me learn a lot of things, and it was just a stepping stone. I'm looking on to the new chapter."

4. An ex-teammate dissed him

Running back Derrick Ward spent two years with the Giants. And in that time he apparently didn't like what he saw from Moore.

The defensive end had a rough stretch in 2015 where he was benched for a game (when healthy) after committing a costly penalty. The next game back Moore received a roughing the passer penalty that kept a drive alive for the Saints and New Orleans scored on the drive.

Ward tweeted:

"Damontre Moore might be the dumbest player in the NFL. Bra u were a healthy scratch for roufhing the passer 2weeks ago and your at it again?"

He deleted the tweet.

We're not sure but this was probably Tom Coughlin's reaction to the whole ordeal.

9. His nickname is Damonster

From a Q&A with the New York Post:

"It's funny, my aunt gave me my nickname when I was little. I used to always watch like 'Loony Tunes' and Tasmanian Devil. She used to say I used to go around being very destructive and she would call me Monster when I was little just 'cause I was always breaking something or always into something. And then my freshman year in college [at Texas A&M], we played Louisiana Tech on my birthday, I got like three sacks in that game, and I guess a reporter just started calling me Damonster."

He could not possibly care less about football. But he needs a paycheck.

His nickname should be "freeloader".

one can excuse things not working out in the 3 years at the giants.
however, what happened last summer at the raiders and fish?
you would think he would have learned?
i guess he did ok after being picked up by seattle.
but the dui was disappointing.
though the dui was what made him available so cheap for 2 years.
the dui is actually treated at lot less severely than gregory's pot use.
kind of ironic considering dui can kill innocent people...

he has a 1 year + cowboys get 1 year option
no risk signing.
on the unexpected chance that he shapes up, not a bad rotation player but he is probably not a haley-level at his best.

i could have written this up faster, hes not good. the end.

Not good? He's not a "war daddy" or elite but he can be a healthy part of a rotation if he can get out of his own way.

I'm not sure what people expect. Only 6 defensive ends in the NFL had double digit sacks last season and none of them were even in our division. Do we want to pay 10 million for a player that can get 8 sacks or 2 million for a player that can get 6 sacks?

The only way to land an elite pass rusher is in the draft and you probably are going to need a high pick. The team is trying to put together a collection of hungry players trying to earn a long term deal somewhere. It may or may not work but it's a more realistic plan than spending a million dollars per sack per player.

I'm not sure what they expect either.

First off the Cowboys aren't going to have any one DL play 1,000 snaps. Not happening.

Instead you'll see 7 guys get between 400-600 snaps.

You can't judge their performance by the number of sacks... Instead you have to look at how many sacks per the number of snaps. You'll find guys like Mayowa who "only" had 6 sacks but had less than 400 snaps last year– that's a very good ratio! Even Moore gets 300 snaps and picks up 4 sacks I'd be thrilled.

Hopefully the guy purchased an alarm clock, and learns how to find the facility, unlike his time in New York.

listen, this was simple as it possibly could get for Dallas. IF you (not you specifically) but if fans really believe Garrett is a good coach and the FO backs him for the same reason, than what was wrong with the team? 2 things stuck out, needed to get to the QB better, need to keep the offense simple. Ok, so yes, paying for a player to get to the qb is worth it since at the worst, we needed the draft (which many scream here) and 1 or 2 FAs at best. So what is the problem with paying a player who can get to the QB.

Now keep in mind, many here defended Spencer and he didnt get to the qb. Is that the type of player we need? No, but do we need just sacks? No, put your stats away and watch the Cowboys. In the last decade, sacks didnt matter much, we could sack a team on 2nd down, set up 3rd and 30 and the qb would get the first down. So sacks arent just the goal. Whats the goal, at least to get to the Qb to rattle him and let the defense do the rest. So no, im not looking at just sacks but there were a few players worth dumping some money in and playing them to get at the QB.

Just for the record, i like interceptions better than sacks. Interceptions you have the ball, sacks you have another play for the qb to get that first down. See McNabb.

All i felt the team needed on record. New OC, one player to only get after the qb, or provide enough another player can get there, and a nice draft, and i am sure Dallas gets over the hump.
