listen, this was simple as it possibly could get for Dallas. IF you (not you specifically) but if fans really believe Garrett is a good coach and the FO backs him for the same reason, than what was wrong with the team? 2 things stuck out, needed to get to the QB better, need to keep the offense simple. Ok, so yes, paying for a player to get to the qb is worth it since at the worst, we needed the draft (which many scream here) and 1 or 2 FAs at best. So what is the problem with paying a player who can get to the QB.

Now keep in mind, many here defended Spencer and he didnt get to the qb. Is that the type of player we need? No, but do we need just sacks? No, put your stats away and watch the Cowboys. In the last decade, sacks didnt matter much, we could sack a team on 2nd down, set up 3rd and 30 and the qb would get the first down. So sacks arent just the goal. Whats the goal, at least to get to the Qb to rattle him and let the defense do the rest. So no, im not looking at just sacks but there were a few players worth dumping some money in and playing them to get at the QB.

Just for the record, i like interceptions better than sacks. Interceptions you have the ball, sacks you have another play for the qb to get that first down. See McNabb.

All i felt the team needed on record. New OC, one player to only get after the qb, or provide enough another player can get there, and a nice draft, and i am sure Dallas gets over the hump.

even though we have huge holes in the D, everything will change in the 2017 draft and the team will be magically transformed:

round 1 - edge rusher who is getting 8 sacks in 2017 and will become the daddy in 2018
round 2 - shtudown corner available because the draft has the most upside CBs ever
round 3 - witten's replacement in the 3rd because we are good at drafting franchise TEs in the 3rd just like witten and this is a great year for TEs
round 4- free's replacement in the 4th because we drafted free in the 4th
round 6 - another brown because we drafted brown in the 6th
round 7 - swaim's replacement because we drafted swaim in the 7th
round 7 - bust - we are allowed 1 bust even though we have a magic formula
UDFA - church's replacement since we got church as a udfa

so we are going to fill all the holes - de, cb, te, ot, ss with a couple extra starters just like 2016 !!!
