All these players on the 53 man roster, can be upgraded through FA or the draft next IMO.

Anderson is doing a great job.

Doug Free has potential apparently.

Stephen Bowen is going to be resigned to a medium to long term contract.

This might be Carpenter's break out season.

Sam Hurd was ahead of Austin on the depth chart for so long, how about we see what he can do, he has potential too.

I would like an upgrade from Siavii too, but he isnt playing horribly.

I don't see Dallas retaining 100% I think there you always try to upgrade not so much with many of the current starters depending of course on what their asking price is for those who will be FA.

I added a few more players to the list and I understand how you feel about some of them. However, I've seen about enough of Anderson, Free, Bowen, Siavii, Carpenter and Hurd to put them on the list.

I like Wade Phillips on defense, but I still think we could have a better head coach.

And we need a more balanced coordinator. We have Mike Martz junior here.

We definitely need to address secondary and offensive line through the draft.

Garrett is not even close to Mike Martz when it comes to being unbalanced. Martz's teams always were ranked in the top 5 in pass attempts and the bottom 5 in rush attempts. Other than last year Dallas has been pretty balanced on offense.

2007
18th in pass attempts
21st in rush attempts

2008
8th in pass attempts
25th in rush attempts

2009
16th in pass attempts
16th in rush attempts

We keep everybody on this team...

We're going to get that much better

2009 injured rookies
2010 rookies (1, 2, 3 round draft picks)
1 or 2 free agents
continued maturation of our current players

Maturation works both ways - the O line Newman, Brooking etc. are probably getting worse rather than better. On the whole though, we are a lot younger than we were at the end of last year, which is a good thing.

How could you have seen enough of Free? Those 12 snaps or so he's taken as a pro?

And I disagree on Anderson, and Bowen. Anderson has simply mauled more than one LB this season, and Bowen is underrated and getting to the QB.

Carp is no worse in his current role than Burnett was, and seems to be improving weekly. I'd judge him at the end of the year, assuming he's fine with a nickel back role.

I think we've seen what Hurd can do, OTree seems to have a lot more upside. I'd get the next development project in.

I believe the following players will be UFA's next year IF there is a CBA:

Kosier, Austin, Hurd, Spears, Bowen, Carpenter, Sensabaugh. Somone let me know if I'm offbase.

Kosier and Carpenter aren't free agents until 2011. Unless they have some sort of incentive clause that voids 2010.

The new CBA may change things anyway (in regards to when a player can hit unrestricted free agency).

Why hasn't he taken more snaps?

The coaches simply don't trust him to protect Romo's blindside and neither do I.

If Anderson is so good, why is John Phillips playing the H-Back more and more? Did you see what their FB Leonard Weaver did to us on Sunday?

I want to see more of that kind of play from our FB position.

Bowen is basically a third down guy with only 1 sack in 8 games. Spears has 2 sacks and Olshanksky has 1 also. I don't see any reason to resign Bowen as a third down guy at this point. I'd rather use the money to resign Spears. I think we can upgrade that position and find someone better to backup or even push Olshansky at DE.

Carp is no worse in his current role than Burnett was, and seems to be improving weekly. I'd judge him at the end of the year, assuming he's fine with a nickel back role.

Jason Williams will replace Carpenter next year...period. I don't see any reason to hold on to Carpenter with Williams on board now. Williams is a much faster pass rusher than Carpenter and can run with any RB or TE.

I think we've seen what Hurd can do, OTree seems to have a lot more upside. I'd get the next development project in.

Otree is the reason why I've seen enough of Hurd. We can get another hungry WR to replace him on special teams....Jesse Holley perhaps?

I'd definitely like to keep these guys if the price is right.

Not sure about Hamlin - his play has improved lately and his salary may be a non-issue if there is no salary cap.

I would think Octavien and Johnson will be RFAs.

They put him in for half of the Seattle game to get him some reps and he was okay so your assertion is false. He's come a long way in the last year and could be a very capable starter as he is supposedly a great athlete. He is still working on the strength side of things. He got a chance to get out once and put a block at the second level and he looked great running down the field.

If he's not good enough to replace Adams right now, then what's the point?

There's no way Free would replace Adams, if he suddenly went down for the season (God forbid). You can bet your bottom dollar, that either Davis or Colombo would slide over to LT.

Did you see Colombo at LT and Adams at LG on Sunday, when they went heavy on the left side for a running play?

Where was our future LT Doug Free then?

What, he can't run block?

What is he a finesse tackle?

I don't know, maybe because penalties aside the guy in front of him is one of the best in the league?

If Anderson is so good, why is John Phillips playing the H-Back more and more?
Who are you, Mickey Spagnola?

They are playing Phillips more because they want to get him in there. Was that Phillips leading Choice on the Wildcat TD Sunday night?

I want to see more of that kind of play from our FB position.

Then you're not watching.

Bowen is basically a third down guy with only 1 sack in 8 games.
Bowen is a cheap rotational guy who supplies decent enough pressure when he gets a chance. Not everyone on the team is going to be DeMarcus Ware.

Sure upgrade him if you can, but I wouldn't just chuck him overboard.

I'd rather use the money to resign Spears
You realize Bowen makes a small fraction of what Spears is going to ask for right?

I'd like to see Jason Williams take a snap at LBer in the NFL before we depend on him to replace Carp. Even in preseason.

Or maybe it's because Free is just average and all he brings to the table is youth.

No, I'm not Mickey Spagnola and Choice ran right behind Davis' block.

Oh, I'm watching and we can do better.

Are you watching?

We can upgrade him and find better talent at that position to compete with Olshansky....and we should.

You're right Bowen is pretty insignificant.

If you want to ride the Carp bandwagon be my guest.

Enjoy it while it lasts.

That was an unbalanced line where both tackles line up beside each other and the tight end lines up next to the guard on the opposite side.

It is frequently used for the Wildcat.

It wasn't a heavy look with an an extra offensive lineman in the game playing as a tight end.

That is why Doug Free wasn't on the field.

We had the regular five linemen out there and just lined them up differently.

Heavy, unbalanced or whatever you want to call it...you missed the point.

Colombo plays RT correct?
Free plays LT correct?

Why doesn't Free play LT in that package?
Why does our RT have to move over to LT?

Wouldn't that be a good oppurtunity for Free to get more snaps etc?

As far as I'm concerned, we HAVE to resign Sensabaugh. Maybe not a 5 or 6 year contract, but we HAVE to keep him. I've seen enought that I want him on the team as least for the foreseeable future. I'd also like to keep out defensive line together as is. The biggest place we need to make a splash during the off-season is on the O line. We need to draft a LT in the first round. We also need to draft a guard and or a center. Maybe even sign someone in free agency. I want more quality depth (and youth) on the line. Hopefully Brewster can come back healthy and prove to be a quality player. No way to tell so far.

We're good at RB and TE, and maybe even WR. We need LBers, a safety, maybe a corner, and O line depth. That's about it.
