My GF's vid from our seats Sat night of King George's final song. Notice what he says just prior to breaking into the song.

We paid scalper $150 apiece, roughly 30 mins after the concert started, so we basically missed the opening act, Asleep at the Wheel. All-in-all, I was glad I went. I've seen George about 6-7 times, but this was one I'll remember.

BTW...The "record" being reported in the article, refers to an INDOOR venue.

That's a concert I'd skip even if you offered ME $500 to go, but then again that's why Baskin Robbins makes 31 different flavors.

They put on the best show and would pay $1000 a ticket to see them again. I like all forms if music, but I expect to be entertained for my money. Kiss and Kid Rock was entertaining to say the least. When I saw Strait, he stood in one place and sang his songs. Nothing more. I can get that from a CD.

Guarantee they would have exceeded that had this been two nights. I put my tickets up high enough that I thought there'd be no way anyone in their right mind would buy them, they were gone in 2 hours. These tickets were in very high demand in D/FW.

Yep I had so many friends and family go to this. My aunt's husband bought them tickets way back early in the year. Told her she could make a killing on those on the secondary market. I had a friend buy a ticket for 400 and flipped it for about 2k. People were dropping tons of money on these tickets. They love them some George Strait.

And yes, Jerry wins again.

I'd rather see George Strait, Alan Jackson or Gary Allan instead of Jason Alden, Rascal Flatts or Keith Urban any day of the week. Classic country music is a dying breed. The Randy Rogers Band, here in Texas, put on an awesome show and I'd prefer seeing the instead of Urban, Rascal Flatts or Aldean. There'll never be another George Strait.

Being that you live in Texas, and I am 8 years removed, but heading back to my beloved state in a couple years--I love TEXAS COUNTRY. It's a little more blue-grass, but has a whole lot more meaning and passion over the mainstream Taylor Swift, Aldean, Bryan, McGraw-crap they trot out every other song on local country music stations. Is 95.9 The Ranch still broadcasting out of Ft. Worth? I can't find it on IHeart Radio.

Was there a dry eye in the place during Cowboy Rides Away?

Yes, they are and you can find their stream direct from their webpage.

You might also give KHYI. 95.3 "The Range" a listen. They're here in Dallas, and are kinda what "The Ranch" patterned themselves after.

KHYI came on the scene right around 95, and artists like Pat Green, Robert Earl Keen, Charlie Robison, Jack Ingram etc, all give them credit as being one of the very few stations to play them when no others would/did.

He's always done that. He's not a pop country singer like the "country" singers churned out these days. Not sure what you were expecting. That's just him.

True- he goes out, sings, does his job and you (collectively) enjoyed it.

I was blessed to see him do an impromptu performance (two songs) live in, oh shoot... ... ... Yeah!
Luckenbach, Texas while he was hanging out with Willie Nelson. Amazing time. My ex-wife's family owns every bit of land from almost Fredericksburg to San Antonio and I hung out in Luckenbach all the time for a period of two years.

I loved that place! Constant flow of bikers and some of the most amazing choppers I have ever seen.
Great people around always and every show was a heartfelt performance in front of good gawl-darn folks- the way it should be.
I was around all the time since my in-laws were real cowboys in that area and always appreciated any help they could get (which I was happy to oblige!) and since I was raised on a farm so I could muddle my way around a working Ranch or two.

Sisterdale! That was the town! My ex-wife's family pretty much WAS the town back then.

Damn! You just got this drug-addled deformist to go back and relive some serious memories of forgotten happiness and lost opportunity.

Thank goodness Life continuously gives us more chances to make a "Right" decision after we've made countless "Wrong" ones.
