105.3 The FAN: Should the Cowboys go with 3 QBs or 6 WRs?

CD, GP, Flournoy, Brown, Turpin...Mingo

Dak, Milton, Howell

If you have to lose one I think its Mingo...

I think there is a good chance that Howell and Mingo both could make it to the practice squad.
I don't know much about practice squad signing rules. Howell is eligible, but anyone can sign him, right? I think there's a lot of value in Howell if you sign him right now. Easy to forget that just 2 years ago, there were a genuine 2-3 months where he was viewed as the future of Washington with his rookie play. He crashed and burned second half of season along with Ron Rivera and everyone else before DQ took over. Never even got a fair shot.

I'd keep three QBs if both Howell and Milton keep looking good. I don't think Mingo is a legit NFL WR.

Pickens, Lamb, Flournoy, Brown, and Mingo. Trade Turpin and have Smith on the practice squad along with the others.

Dak and Milton are the qbs. Have Howell on the practice squad.

Sign Garoppolo. Keep one of the other guys as an emergency 3rd stringer.
Agreed. With Garoppolo out there it’s curious why they would bother with Howell or Milton.

Probably money, although he had talked about retirement.

He may be waiting to see what contender needs a QB

Easy decision. Go with 2 QB's and 6 WR's. The extra WR will be more important than an extra QB. If Dak goes down, it isn't going to matter if we had kept 4 or 5 QB's.

They need to stop being so stingy with roster spots. Who wins?

If he's cut at the end of camp, he can sign with any team as a veteran, but it wasn't like teams were beating down his door to sign him ahead of this season, which is why Dallas was able to get him for $2.5 million. All of it is guaranteed, so he's not going to lose money by going to the practice squad. It may be like Will Grier last year where there's a handshake agreement in place for him to stay with the team that paid him and be on the practice squad. Once he's there, we can protect him each week from being signed away.

Doing something like that is less risky than cutting Milton since he can be claimed on waivers.
