Assuming all 11 draft picks were to make the roster the Boys have some hard decisions to make.

These 16 players IMO are not locks to make team for whatever reason.

Ball, Alan
Battle, Tra
Berger, Joe
Bollinger, Brooks
Brown, Courtney
Burnett, Kevin
Canty, Chris
Coleman, Alonzo
Hannah, Rodney
Johnson, Brad
Johnson, Tank
Octavien, Steve
Paulescu, Sam
Polk, Carlos
Procter, Cory
Thomas, Zach

53-16=37
37 spots now. 7 vets on IR that very possibly could all be back.

37+7=44
44 roster spots fiilled. 11 draft picks = 55 spots plus hopefully some FA upgrades. Hard decisions.

This will turn into a cut TO thread. :bang2:

I'm not saying it, matter of fact I say keep him.

I wish Canty and Burnett would be re-signed. Polk and Zach Thomas would be nice too.

Do you realize how thin our LB corps could be in 2009?

Ware
Ellis ???
Carpenter
James
Rogers
Spencer

If Ellis were to go we'd almost have to bring back Burnett and Thomas. That is simply too many spots to fill.

How is a thread about guys who aren't locks to make the team not one that lists Carpenter?

Palescu, B Johnon and T Johnson, Alonz Coleman are definite. McBriar moves back in.

We will not have 11 draft picks. We will either trade fr 2010 picks or move up and take a stud.

Realistically I think we get 5 new players from the Draft and 3 new FA.

(needs for depth aside)

By draft or FA, there are a couple of positions/players where I think guys should be brought in to challenge the starter (if anything it can hopefully motivate a guy):

QB - Tony Romo; I think most folks have acknowledge that he needs to be pushed.

K - Nick Folk (his kickoffs don't help)

MLB - I like Bradie James but he needs to be pushed and helped more (assuming Zach isn't back)

OLB - Opposite Ware...Ellis can't do it forever and Spencer...eh dunno what's going on there.

DE + NT - W/ the exception of Ratliff, I think the whole line can be pushed to do better or get out of the way for a better player.

WR - Assuming Owens stays, I think Austin can push RoyE and make both better. If Owens goes, I think Austin beats out Crayton, but IMO, it's a major drop off in talent after Austin (assuming he can stay healthy), so I think a legit/established #2 WR should be brought in (if Owens goes).

RT/RG - Depth is needed badly. Flo/Proctor can play but if guys that can challenge for the starting job are brought in, even better.

Tank, Canty, Brad Johnson, and Paulescu are gone for sure. Well, unless Canty gets a rude awaking when he hits free agency.

I think Thomas maybe gone too. It might be in the best interest of the Cowboys to let him go. We can void his contract now I believe, but if we don't he is signed for three more years. Not sure if there would be any cap hit to cut him though.

I'm sorry, but I think I cut ties with TO also. While I think he can still play, I think he is becoming a cancer in the locker room to the younger players.

I also think Romo needs to be ***** slapped. He needs his head out of the ****ing clouds.

I don't think JJ goes from 11 draft picks to 5. I wouldn't mind moving up for a couple of potential "studs" or starters though.

His imbecile ST coach telling him to angle every kickoff didn't help.

He's fine.

If it were me I'd cut TO. I just don't think JJ will.

Yes, hopefully the new ST coach can correct this.

plus a bunch of rookie kickers go through this early phase where they can't figure out how to kickoff - Josh Brown went through the same thing and now he's much better. Rackers stank early career too. Likely just part of the development for some guys - we certainly know he's got the leg.

Id cut all those guys except Burnett and Polk.

First, the way the cowboys have been looking at guards, centers and tackles, either McQuistan or Proctor is gone for sure.

Second, Brad Johnson-to old to play,
Third, Paulescu, Sam a poor punter
Fourth, Tank Johnson
Fifth Roy Williams safety, traded or released

I think the Cowboys will keep Henry & Greg Ellis for veteran leadership

Alonzo Coleman hasnt cracked starting role in 2 years now

If T O isnt traded or released, that leaves Crayton to be traded-he has value

Stanback, he is injury prone but wont be done till mid training camp

Joe Berger if the Cowboys draft some offensive linenmen like i think they will

Bollinger but only in training camp after Chris Simms or veteran QB is signed
and QB is drafted in lower rounds.

Thats 10 players right there.

Since when do 11/11 draft picks EVER all make the team? If that happened our scouting department should be immediately enshrined in Canton.

I think dumb teams move young players

Nick Folk may not be a blue chip KO guy at this point but his roster spot is very safe.
