1130 KFAN in Minnesota Musings

Hmmm, I probably was looking at a Merril Hodge video or talking to my Real Estate Agent at the time.

Were you the guy that called in and was saying it was a bad idea to throw at Mike Jenkins?

yea that was me

If we can keep their defensive front 4 off of Romo, avoid turnovers and get touchdowns in the redzone I really don't think this is going to be a close game. I think we present a lot of matchup problems for them. They're not a good blitzing team, and K. Williams and J. Allen can't just recklessly attack up field against our draw based running game. Leber and Brinkley are too slow to keep up with Felix and Witten. Antoine Winfield's physicality is meaningless against a WR as big and strong as Miles Austin.

The only thing I'm really worried about is Hamlin stupidly letting Harvin or Berian behind him and giving up some big plays and/or Romo throwing a clunker.

Yeah me too.

That is kind of new wrinkle in our Offense.

Agreed. We've been running them a lot lately, but it wasn't a staple for 80 percent of the season.

As for the thing about records against similar opponents, the Giants thing really skews that. Gives us two losses while a victory for them in a game in which New York didn't even bother to make the trip.

The guy on right now is priceless. He called Philly a garbage team, and said that McNabb is overrated.

I don't get the impression that they've watched many Cowboy games. They think Ware is the only threat on the d-line, and Jenkins should be attacked.

He also said that they should go pass heavy, and run the ball every now and then.

Ummmm...isn't that what Philly tried 2 weeks in a row?

Tell these idiots who are depending on their stadium to win the game that we gave the Saints an *** wuppin in the Super Dome.

Yeah, I heard you. I figured it was a Cowboy fan. The host didn't really say much afterwards. It was like he needed time to think of another way this defense could be attacked.

:laugh2:

I'm from Minnesota and listen to the common man alot on kfan...and to be honest outside of the division they don't really know much of other team and players except the superstar on them...they are a good laugh though!!

The Vikings defense is in a similar quandry as Philly's D. Only the Vikings corners aren't as good as Philly's. Winfield has been banged up this year. Vikings are weak at the LB position, much like Philly. Witten should have a big day.

I have confidence that the offense can put up points on the Vikings.

On the defensive side of the ball, Peterson is a beast, but also has a case of fumblitis. D-line needs to focus on stripping the ball any chance they get. Vikings have also abandoned the running game as of late. Not sure why.

Favre is a great QB, but I like our d-line's chances to get to him early and often. I've watched some Vikings games in anticipation of this matchup, and McKinnie's performance has really dropped off. He was world-class for awhile, but not so much these days.

Getting to Favre will be the key. Their receivers and TE are all top notch. If Favre has time to throw, the game will be a shootout.

This.

I love the fact that the last game they played was the Giants when they completely mailed it in. If they're using that game as any kind of measuring stick, thinking that game indicated what our division is all about, they're in for a rude awakening.

Not to mention that the Giants were destroyed by the Panthers the week before.

The host actually refers to the 2nd half of the week 16 Bears game as a measuring stick of what the Vikings should be able to do against Dallas.

Sorry, they have another thing coming if they think this defense is as porous as the Bears defense.

One host said it will be a shootout with 30+ points by each team. I don't recall us being in any shootouts sans week 2 against the Giants. That was a long time ago.

I fear San Diego more than I do Minny, and we held them to 20 points. I have confidence that the Vikings offense will be held in check. The deciding factor in this game will be the Romo to Witten connection. Vikings are vulnerable in the middle of their defense, much like Philly.

The thing that these Vikings fans and radio hosts are not thinking about is we have been battle tested a lot this season. We haven't been blown out all year, our two worst defensive performances have been against the Giants which both games were breakdowns and costly mistakes. I look at our regular season games and we have played some of the best teams in the league and beaten some of them and lost to some them but we never got embarrassed or beat down by any of them. The Vikings may have had a game or two like this. I really would like to see how the Vikings respond if they get behind 7-0, 10-0 early in the game.

Brad: Andy any thing useful to use against the cowboys?

Andy: yeah, locks and chains.

Brad: I think the officials will think something is up....

Andy: Don't use them on the Cowboys use them on the doors to the Metrodome so the Cowboys can't come in and hopefully you will win by forfeit.

Vikings are overrated trash.

Favre got completely owned in Pitt by the pass rush and IMO we have a better pass rush than Pitt.

Beating up on the little ol Rams and mailed in Giants will only get you so far

That's pretty classy. We did not get "owned" In Pit. Everybody jumps on us cause of our schedule, we did not pick who we played. Yes we Lost to Chi, but Division games are always more tough, And Carolina was very hot at the end of the season and Arz we were just outplayed, it happens to every team, including yours. We deserve to be in the playoffs, just as much as Dallas does.
Sunday is going to be a tough game for both teams and to think otherwise is just dumb. But to each their own!

I find this hard to believe.

Against Philly, we ran the tunnel screen over and over, so I think that's the reason for this belief.

I believe the Cowboys used the tunnel screen so much against the Eagles because of their blitzing. I don't think we'll see it much against the Vikings.

We have made that screen a regular part of our offense.
