I agree, Witten is just not at threat at all in the YAC department. Where he catches it is where the ball will be, when he catches the ball now I immediately look to see if he's got first down yardage already because I know that he's not going to get it otherwise.

great so we draft a TE in the 2nd round that main weakness was his blocking and we get him to basically block or sit the bench most of the game. Great. The guard the lions drafted is looking real good right now if we were going to waste yet another 2nd rounder on a blocking TE that you can find in the 5th round or later or even rookie FA.

The organization doesn't throw the passes. Tony Romo is notoriously moody when it comes to receivers. He has flat out stopped looking at Dez for games at a time. OC calls the plays. Romo reads the D and throws the ball. If you don't like the distribution it falls on one guy (outside of how the defense may be playing).

Still, Escobar was out there for 1play. That isnt on romo

Witten is essentially a factor when teams are playing deep and keeping everything in the middle of the field to run down the clock. That is why Romo consistently goes for him when hurrying up. Dallas needs speed down the middle to pressure the safeties. As much as I love Witten, I think the sun is setting.

You could have banked it when I told you in April. Larry Warford will be an infinitely better pro player than Gavin Escobar.

It really bleeps me off that we didn't draft him there.

Was a terrible pick. He won't get used. Even if the idea of picking Escobar was right, it won't pan out in real-life.

Romo will go to Witten. As long as they are on the team together. The same exact scenario has played out THREE times.

I guess Bennett was right about that.

It was a joke guys. Seriously, I know you're all invested just as emotionally as me, but some of you need to put the razor blades down.

On the radio today in Houston, a local sports station did an interview with T.O. Talking about the usual, off the field issues, trying to get one more chance, etc, etc. The DJ posed a question....What team do you want to go into the hall representing? He had a hard time answering for either SF, Phi or Dallas. That is not my point but they asked who was the best QB for him. He said Romo put the ball in the best place over the other two. I was surprised that he talked well of Dallas until Witten became a topic.

He basically said that as long as Witten is there, Romo will have a hard time making noise in the playoffs. He relies on him too much, etc. He was complaining about the 3yd passes when needing 7 for a first down and stuff. He mentioned this being a pattern for too many years and that Witten is a possession receiver only and that Dallas was lacking the correct routes to get YAC. Just thought it was interesting, was a pretty good interview.

This coaching staff does not know how to design plays or best utilize players for 2 TE sets. Hannah and Escobar are liabilities in blocking or blitz pick-ups, which is gonna hurt any confidence in running these sets. Even when we had a good blocking 2nd TE(Marty B), the coaching staff could not figure out how to utilize his talents. Over time it was assumed it must be Marty B's fault, but he's been looking pretty good since he left, did he suddenly improve? I think he found teams that were better at utilizing his talents.

This coaching staff struggles with designing effective 2 TE sets and RB screen plays.

Don't believe this at all. We've been productive from the 12 for some time. All the stats are out there for anyone to check.

Many of us wanted Warford
Our GM knows better
Cue the "what do you want, Escobar was the best player on their board" group

We are much better in 11 personnel against 3-4 teams because our tight ends, including Witten, can't handle most 3-4 olb's in the run game as an inline Y tight end.

I do wish we would use 12 versus a 3-4 in a double slot or bunch formation, but that would involve some offensive creativity and is not in the Ernie Zampese or 1999 Raider playbook.

If we don't use the second tight end as a receiver sometimes, we just have heavy personnel that gets their butt beat on the edge. Even the exceptionally craptastic Matt Schaub throws to the second tight end as play action off the zone scheme. They are easy throws that get a cheap 12-15 yards. We treat it like it is a double reverse.

Warford is receiving rave reviews.

@ttwentyman: Coordinator Cut-Up: Larry Warford has been an atypical rookie thus far. http://******/19V3Vjm
