One of the toughest losses in franchise history.

It may have altered NFL history. The Cowboys would have annihilated GB at Texas Stadium. Favre was just awful there. In turn, they meet the Patriots.

Do the Cowboys beat the Patriots? My gut says no. But never know. Not sure Dallas has the front that the Giants did to stop Brady.

Sure would have been nice to get there though.

I think we would have gone to the Super Bowl had we beat the Giants. But we were super young that year and Romo was still green. Undefeated Pats would have completed history against us I’m afraid.

This loss sucked.

I remember feeling like the better team lost and I remember that being a popular sentiment.

In reality, that 2007 Giants team is probably the most underrated team of my lifetime, and we were just unlucky that they pulled it together when the playoffs rolled around.

Regardless, we probably would have lost the super bowl to Brady and the Pats.

I did not want the Patriots to have a perfect season. I disliked them so much that I rooted for the Giants in the super bowl.
Yeah me too. It felt dirty being that satisfied after a Giants Super Bowl win.

Bottom line on this game is if Crayton runs his route with 17 seconds left, he catches the perfectly throw game-winning pass, the Giants go home and the Cowboys advance.
Plain and simple.

An underrated result of Crayton not finishing this route was the continuation of the "Romo the choker" narrative.

He wouldn't shake that narrative until 2014; his last real year with us.

Patriots would have killed us but we would have at least been in a championship game

still stings.

during this title drought...that team and dak's rookie yr are the only ones that got home-field advantage.
both i thought were good enough to go all the way.

I remember that game well. We were dominating the first half and the giants pass rush had tony Romo running for his life in the second half. We won the time of possession, passing yards and rushing yards. The only thing we didn't win was where it counts, the final score. 2 things that annoyed from that game was the Clayton drop and Wade Phillips saying, we have the bye, that is like winning a playoff game. I knew we were toast when he said that. I do not think we beat the Pats in the Super Bowl either.

That was a great Giants front. They wore us down---as they eventually did to the rest of the playoff field-- but man, we should've won that game.

Don't know about y'all but I'm not wasting 2 hrs of life to watch the Cowboys lose again. Seen plenty of wins losses over the past 52 years.

Y'all enjoy.

Yep, and some fans here wonder why we old time fans that have been here for 27 years are pessimistic.

Having your heart ripped out like this loss and others can do that to ya........

This was WAY worse than his drop earlier in the quarter. Drops happen. But on that play, he legit just stopped and gave up because he didn't think he was getting the ball. Romo dropped a perfect dime that would have won the game and would have went down as one of the all time classic playoff plays. It was hard to see on tv because of the angles but my uncle was at the the game and in live speed, he slowed way up down the field. Pathetic.

Nothing else matters if Crayton runs that route. He had Webster beat. That hesitation allowed the ball to sail on him.

You can always say one play doesn't lose you the game. Well...one play did.

The Cowboys also had a three point lead I believe when Crayton dropped a pass that would've taken him to the endzone.

Cowboys were the better team overall roster wise. But maybe the Giants were the better team in regards to coaching and being built for the postseason.

Don't care if they get smashed in the SB against NE either. The season could not have been looked at as a failure. No shame in losing to the greatest NFL team of all time. Losing this game completely wiped away any good they accomplished during the year.

The irony in all this is two teams lost that day: Dallas & NE (Indirectly).
