I agree with this.

That was a great win.

But the home loss to Philly and blowout loss in Washington started to make me worry a bit.

It did seem as though the team wasn't as sharp down the stretch.
Right after the GB game, we went on the road to Detroit and looked pretty bad. Ended up winning at the every end, though. But I believe the next week was the Philly game you mentioned. Offense was dreadful. We didn't fall apart completely because we were winning games but you could see a drop off in our offense quality.

Bottom line on this game is if Crayton runs his route with 17 seconds left, he catches the perfectly throw game-winning pass, the Giants go home and the Cowboys advance.
Plain and simple.

yup, i call this the Crayton game, 2 horrible plays cost us that game. he did not go to cabo, so whats his excuse lOL. always sems to be a pay her eor there in our big games that just are so bad it costs us a game.. memorable plays ie name games named "the catch81" , "it was a catch 2014" "no Jackie" , "Holy roller " , "Crayton game 07" "ref 14 penalty game or aptly why wasn't it lined up fast enough"(ill go "ref game" 2021) and lastly "ice Bowl"

After the Cowboys began the 07 season 10-0 beating the 10-0 Packers in a game where Aaron Rodgers took over for an injured Brett Favre and almost brought the Packers back, the Cowboys became complacent. They almost lost to a 2 win Detroit team the following week. The very next week they got beat by Philly and were never the same team again. They barely beat an average Carolina team led by Matt Moore, and looked horrible against Washington in the season finale losing 27-6. That was the worst game they played all season, very similar to the game we saw last week against Washington. The team was limping badly into the playoffs and Romo decided to go to Cabo with Jessica Simpson, along with Jason Witten, a week before a playoff game. I predicted all week the Cowboys would go one and done against the Giants….BINGO! Only the fans wearing blinders couldn’t see it coming. That was the best chance the Cowboys had of reaching the Super Bowl since the 90s. That was a great team for the first 11 weeks of the season until the sputtered out. Romo‘s game completely went into the toilet during Dec/Jan. Possibly the most disappointing team in franchise history.

They did lose to NE earlier in the year so they were 10-1 heading into that game. Believe GB was the same record. Rodgers came in and almost won that game for them.

it was hardly an "almost" won, we were way up and never trailed after it was 3-0 for them, he got them to within 3 but that was it

Pretty close! This team never looked as good as that team but our decline is similar. The loss to Washington in the season finale in 2007 which was also on the road was very reminiscent of what we saw last week in Washington. You couldn’t stink any worse entering the playoffs than the 07 team and this team.

..lol... I still remember Crayton playing basketball with his buddies, day after loss. Like nothing ever happened.

So glad, they got rid of him couple yrs later.
Big mouth as well!

Yeah, that sucked.
But since then I've learned not to let a Cowboys loss ruin my day or week.

TO had been injured during the Carolina game. He wasn't the same after that. Plus, we had not had Terry Glenn available all season. For some reason, we thought he'd come back and be a factor in this one game.

That team was loaded with talent. All it needed was a captain to guide the ship. After Parcells, anyone would've wanted that job. Jerry inexplicably hired Wade Phillips. He was a fantastic DC, but a ho-hum HC. That was always the biggest frustration for me.

Jerry has hired two great coaches that got this team on the right track: Jimmy Johnson and Bill Parcells. Other than those two.....we've really struggled to find a coach that could get this team over the top.

Yup, that one sucked big time. That was one of the last seasons I can remember (well maybe 2014) where I honestly believed the team could make it to the big dance. I mean, credit to the Giants for their incredible run, but we should have beat them.

As far as facing the Patriots, I'm not so sure they would have won. They were really temping fate trying to win that many games in a row. Look at some of the luck that bounced the Giants way during that game. Manning just heaves it up and Tyree catches it on his helmet. I mean, come on!! lol Things were breaking their way.

I did not want the Patriots to have a perfect season. I disliked them so much that I rooted for the Giants in the super bowl.
I went on a Giants fan forum at the time and thanked them for saving football for the rest of us by preventing that 19-0.

I had to go work an overnight job then for Fox Sports right after that game too. I had to sit all night reliving it as I worked the highlight shows all evening. Brutal evening.

I was there...8 rows up on the 3 yard line in the corner Crayton was targeted. Made for a very long drive back to NE Oklahoma.

Getting to within 3 isn't an 'almost win"? Lol what? He brought them all the way back and we needed a 50yd PI to get down the field to put the game away. Defense was pathetic in the 2nd half of that game.

Speak for yourself, I'm very happy. I'm actually pumped for this game. Any team can lose to anyone, it's not only a Cowboys thing.
I mean that is pro sports in general. Yes, any team can beat anyone on a given day (more so in the regular season). Come playoff time in the NFL, the playoffs is hardly a random lottery. The better teams win majority of the time. Go look at the Super Bowl winners. They aren't random at all.
