Getting to within 3 isn't an 'almost win"? Lol what? He brought them all the way back and we needed a 50yd PI to get down the field to put the game away. Defense was pathetic in the 2nd half of that game.
if you don't lead after your first drive, you didn't almost win, because no one would say Dak almost beat SF last year...

Big play that gets overlooked. Before the half MB3 TD. Witten catches a pass and loses forward progress before stepping out, the ref stops the clock anyway. Gives NY time to score before the half. Worst call was the 3rd down pressure DWare had on the opening drive, 3 and out..instead…the refs call 94 offsides. (League later admitted it was a bad call). Next play is Toomer for a long TD. Talk about game changing. But yeah…I remember that game.

we had a long drive that ended in a TD that should have closed the 1st half scoring out. We kickoff to the Giants. The defense was rested. It's almost as if we thought the Giants were going to come out and take 3 knees. The drive at the end of the 1st half is where this game was lost. Especially since Jacques Reeves was heavily exploited

Absolutely. The Toomer TD never happens if Ware is not incorrectly called offsides.

One of the toughest losses in franchise history.

It may have altered NFL history. The Cowboys would have annihilated GB at Texas Stadium. Favre was just awful there. In turn, they meet the Patriots.

Do the Cowboys beat the Patriots? My gut says no. But never know. Not sure Dallas has the front that the Giants did to stop Brady.

Sure would have been nice to get there though.

I was there. Most depressing loss I’ve ever witnessed. I missed work the next day and was depressed for days. :(

I spent most of my formative years playing video games and playing with Legos. Big surprise with my avatar, huh?

The seasons around Romo becoming a thing was when I really started paying attention to football rather than just being 7-ish years old and living in Texas during that 90s Cowboys dynasty.

This Giants game is what taught me what it means to truly be a Cowboys fan.

And in total honesty, I wasn’t ready for this reminder today. Shame on you.

I don't think we would have beaten the Patriots either. That Giants D was playing better every week.

That SB was the only time I rooted for a division foe to win a SB, as much as it pained me to do it. I did not want the Patriots to go undefeated.

In 1990 the Giants also prevented another historical event. The 49ers would have won their 3rd SB in a row. I also think the 49ers were the better team. Not by much, but better.

Bottom line on this game is if Crayton runs his route with 17 seconds left, he catches the perfectly throw game-winning pass, the Giants go home and the Cowboys advance.
Plain and simple.

Or Crayton catches the IN HIS HANDS 3rd down after a brilliant Romo scramble... he was streaking and easily had YAC on that play. Crayton... still makes my blood boil!!

Go Cowboys!!

5 minutes into the game it was obvious the Giants were picking on #42 and he was having a really bad day. But the Cowboys should have won this game. This was a first class choke.

I believe that's the game where it occurred to me that the officials were intentionally keeping the underdog teams in the game for the first half, the Cowboys had nearly a dozen penalties in the first half and the Giants had NONE.

Giving up the TD to the Giants with 7 seconds to go in the half was so typical of the Cowboys and set the tone for the rest of the game. And of course a big 15 yard penalty made a huge difference on the Giants scoring drive.

The needed Demarcus Ware to make a play in this game and he didn't do much of anything. This was a Super Bowl opportunity lost by Dallas.

You guys had no problem sweeping us in the regular season and thought it would be a cake walk in the 3rd matchup. Coughlin found out that Jerry had already printed up tickets for the NFCCG the following week and told the team. Dallas got overconfident & complacent, that and your RB getting worn out in the 2nd half cost you the game. The Crayton play on 3rd down was inexcusable, he stopped running the route on the play. Easy GWTD down the drain. You guys would've been beaten by NE as you didn't have the front 7 we did & heavy pressure is only way to beat Brady.

Very true… I believe the ONLY team that season capable was the Giants. That front 7 was FIERCE!!
