Like I said. Lets see where the cards fall.

btw Superpunk, thus far I still think Houston was stupid to select Mario Williams over Bush. Mario Williams had been ineffective up until about week 11 of last year. The guy has talent, but to be the first overall pick, he should have already done something by now. Bush has been quite a bit more effective than Williams.

In my opinion the entire top 10 in the 2006 draft has pretty much under-achieved. Of course there are some good players (Hawk, Davis, Whitner, etc) that were draft top 10, but under-achieved as what you should expect from a top 10 pick. You know there will be several that fall short, but none are performing as you would hope as top 10 would. I mean, Vince Young won offensive rookie of the year and the defensive rookie of the year wasn't even a first round pick.

Vernon Davis is probably the best overall talent in the 2006 draft. (drafted in the first round anyhow) Though he is a freakin headcase!

I guess I am in the minority because I agree with you on D-Mac. The more videos I see of him. I see a very fast guy with some decent moves but someone who can not break a tackle.

I would love DMAC but I would gladly take CJ... Who was defensive player of the year in 2006?

DeMeco Ryans, LB in the second round by Houston. (Their second round pick got Defensive Rookie of the Year instead of their first overall draft pick!!!) :laugh2:

In 2001, the OROY was Anthony Thomas, selected in the 2nd round, 38th overall.

Ladanian Tomlinson was selected 5th overall.

Let's see how their (Ryans and Williams) careers evolve.

They were drafted by different teams. The point was that it was ironic that they were both drafted by Houston, both play defense yet the #1 overall draft pick of the entire draft got trumped by the second round pick.

btw, I love the fact that Tomlinson came from TCU. My favorite college team :)

Mr. Kiper. I'll say it again. Just wait and see. Johnson > McFadden.

True.

But my point was that, while yes, Demeco did outperform Mario as a rookie... there is still a lot of career left for both of them.

Obviously, Demeco could very well end up being the better player. But Mario could end up better too. 2 years isn't really enough to make a determination on it.

If Mario did in fact turn the cornor after the 11th game last season, then he will be fun to watch. He is very much like DeMarcus Ware, but playing DE in a 4-3. What I mean by like Ware is he has all the tools. He can dominate run, pass, and even drop into coverage if need be.

My issue with him was how raw he was. To take someone that raw with the first overall pick makes that pick just that much more expensive.

Speaking of underrating RBs in the draft, how's Matt Forte for a sleeper pick?

McFadden is the most talented, but is he the smartest, will he put winning and the drive to win ahead of money, and partying, and hanging out with his Arkansas homeboys?

Wow. I can't agree with that. Houston is lookin' pretty good right now with Mario possibly heading toward Pro Bowls in the coming years with Houston still being able to now grab Stewart or Mendenhall is this years draft.

People do realize Mario got 10 sacks and had a really good year last year Houston moved him to the strong side where he is better suited and he played the run well to. Mario is big and fast but is not like Demarcus who has quickness and can rampt up his speed with a blink

Mario had a very good year with the move they also move him inside sometimes on passing downs as well. If the Texans are smart they will keep Mario on the strong side

The OP is not crazy. There are some serious pundits who believe that Stewart will be a better NFL back than McFadden. Chris Johnson may turn out to be a better player or should I say more productive. That's not my opinion but I wouldn't bet the ranch on McFadden over C Johnson or J Stewart.
