The OP is not crazy. There are some serious pundits who believe that Stewart will be a better NFL back than McFadden. Chris Johnson may turn out to be a better player or should I say more productive. That's not my opinion but I wouldn't bet the ranch on McFadden over C Johnson or J Stewart.
I dont think very many people believe that Stewart will be a better NFL back, but there are some that might rank Mendenhall higher.

NYC's prediction that CJ>DMac will make a LOT of people on this board eat crow next fall.

NYC gets caught in a contradiction or ridiculous statement in just about every thread, so it'd be a nice change of pace for him.

I've seen both ranked higher. While I like both backs esp Stewart who I think has more wiggle than Mendenhall I don't think either are the back McFadden is. But I think there is much, much less bust factor involved with not McFadden backs.

I've seen mocks where McFadden went number 12 and plenty in the 6-10 range.

Not everyone thinks McFadden is going to lite them up. The knocks are the outside issues, his slender lower body (gives him speed galore but they are right slender), upright running style, possible injury prone, and lack of power as being reasons he won't be as successful as many think.

I agree with the bust potential but I think he will have some good years. He has rare speed. He does not have the lateral ability of some of the great ones. However, he looks and runs an awful lot like one Eric Dickerson. To me that is.

Mendenhall compares with Benson. I'd say he looks a lot like one Julius Jones except bigger.

Stewart reminds me of MBIII. A lot including that little lateral jump move he has. I really like this back who can catch the ball downfield and run them back.

Neither of them is as good as McFadden just due to speed. But Chris Johnson is nearly as fast and has a better forward lean and a good bit more wiggle.

So there is life after McFadden.

Mind if I ask who has Stewart ranked above McFadden?

I think Stewart is going to be a complete bust. He doesn't have much wiggle at all, and for a power back, he doesn't have much power. I don't see much comparison with MB3 at all.

Well let see. My wife made ham with egg and cheese on a toasted multi-grain english muffin and coffee.

...if you like, I can explain exactly why I think he is more talented than McFadden.

you can explain until your blue in the face or until your fingers fall off from typing, but he is not even remotely close to the same kind of RB talent McFadden is

He has good speed and he catches the ball well, but his numbers are clearly inflated from games against poor teams.....he gained 29 yds vs Va Tech, he only gained 18 against a mediocre North Carolina team and just 45 vs Southern Miss...he gained amost 40% of his yards in two games, one vs Memphis and the other vs Boise St

Lets see who is more productive in the NFL next season. We will leave it at that.

yeah lets see...a guy who's gonna be drafted in the top 5 or 6 picks and probably get 250-300 carries, or the guy who's going in the middle to late portion of round 2 and at best be a 3rd down back/KO returner

I think I'm going with the kid from Arkansas

I would...especially over Johnson, who may end up playing WR before alls said and done

Well bet the ranch on McFadden means two number ones and another player to move up to get him plus he is not necessarily a slam dunk to be the best back in this draft four years from now. Could be less if he fell far enough which I doubt we'll see. But it is possible. So I wouldn't bet the farm or ranch on us getting him over Johnson or Jones.

And while I've seen the stuff out there on Johnson going to WR that is about the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Why move a very successful RB to WR. There are too many WRs out there. It's ridiculous IMO. Johnson and Jones are my two biggest picks for RBs that will be there when we pick. Philpot just stated the same thing. I jumped up and told him to get his own gig.

I am not so willing to jump on the Mcfadden superstar band wagon. I dont think he is going to be as productive either. He is no Adrian Peterson.

Holy cow, if CJ is the next Reggie Bush and we nab him I will be one happy camper!

Johnson is a poor man's Reggie Bush and that's not saying much. Here's what Bush has done in two seasons.

28 games played
2,533 all purpose yards
90 yards total per game
15 tds
3.7 rushing avg
7.2 receiving avg
7.4 punt return avg
10 fumbles
5 lost

Those numbers look average for the #2 pick in the draft. I was expecting Bush to be like Brian Westbrook, but he's no where near Westbrook and never will be IMO. Bush has never had more than 21 carries in a game and his longest run is only 22 freakin yards!

By comparison, Adrian Peterson had 13 TD's and 2,021 all purpose yards in only 14 games played. His longest run was 73 yards for a score and he averages 144 total yards a game. Now, that is what I call production!

You wanna a fast RB with good value?

Get Jamaal Charles in the 2nd round.

bush played injured his second season. I think he will put all the doubt to rest this season. 7.4 YPC how is that something so easily over looked by you when he had 70+ catches his rookie year .

Just like every year. People talk big and tell me I don't know what I'm talking about and then the draft happens and the season starts and everyone shuts the **** up.

You've been here for one draft. For that draft, your biggest claim to fame seems to be that you thought Bowe and Peterson would be good players, which alot of people thought.

I think you're playing the martyr role where you're right and everyone else bashes your thoughts up too much. You've been through one draft here. Congrats - you thought Adrian Peterson would be a good player - so did 2 billion chinese people. Let's ease up on citing your brilliant draft record until there's more of it than "Houston was dumb for not taking Bush instead of Williams." ;)

I know everyone hates when someone is always right. Tis ok superpunk. I actually just completed my current job and will be moving to another job in lower Manhattan and probably won't have much time to spend here like I've had telling everyone how they are wrong. (Not that I enjoy it, but when you're right your right)

Of course, I will be remembered. Only noone will speak of it. I will be shun like the devil.

It gets old schooling the children around here anyhow. It would be much more fun if they actually looked into the error of their ways instead of following the lead of someone clueless mediot writing column to generate buzz. I much prefer intelligent conversation rather than always having to explain the same concepts every day. :bang2: ;)

Now, go sit in the cornor and be good.

It could be that they simply grow tired of the babbling and just try to ignore in the hopes that you will stop spraying them with the "BS" hose. ;)
