This upcoming game reminds me a lot of when we played the 49ers in 1992. They were on top of the league and Dallas was up and coming on the rise. This game has a familiar feel to it. The Pats are cocky, arrogant, etc. The media doesn't give Dallas much of a shot to win the game. So let's hope that Dallas comes to play and not only set the tone for this season, but seasons to come. Maybe I am making too much out of one game, but you never know.

You can't even begin to compare this game to that one, dude seriously. The 1992 matchup was ON THE ROAD in the NFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME!! The current game is just a REGULAR SEASON GAME...

This game actually reminds me more of the 1992 opening Monday game that we played @ home VS. the champion Commanders.

We layed a whoopin that day, and we're gonna do the same on Sunday.

Much of a shot ??? The media doesn't give them a shot at all. However, that's the way I like it.

Now I believe that's a better comparison...

I hate to spoil everyones parade, but the NFC east is a tough division right now. The Giants have played hard teams and are 3-2, the Commanders are 3-1, and the Eagles are still a top 12 team being 1-3 (@Packers, @Giants, Washington) . Offensively they are mediocre, nothing too amazing, but defensively the Eagles and Commanders are brutal. We can go into week 9 7-0 (if lucky) and still end up losing the east since we only had one division game.

Not sure what this game reminds me of.... Maybe last years colts game which ended up meaning absolutely nothing in the end. Hardly anyone not a cowboy fan remembers we won it, media doesn't recall that we have been in a similar position vs winning teams in previous years. Like it never happened.

well, washington beat detroit (a team that is HORRIBLE), miami (i don't think they've won a game yet), and philadelphia (a team that has played very badly so far).

new york giants have beaten new york jets (who lost to the bills), washington (due to a major washington collapse), and philadelphia (who, again, hasn't played well so far)

philadelphia has beaten detroit (which, again, is a HORRIBLE team)

We might not have played any good teams, but for sure the Giants, Eagles, and Commanders haven't beaten any good teams.

We play the same exact teams except our NFC equivalents from last year. If they do their job and beat the easy teams, and we do our job and beat the easy teams, the only teams that matter are the ones in the division

I guess I meant where the teams are as far as development. The 49ers were an established great team. They were the team of the 80's. The Pats are certainly the team of this decade, catch my drift. It was late for me last night...:)

I know it is not as big as a playoff game.

that was a conference championship game, this is an early regular season game...big difference

also, that Dallas teams was eons better than this team, and the Niners team we beat was better than new England

I got your drift and I agree.

I don't think this team is as far along in it's development as the 92 team was.

This game, win or lose, is a great measuring stick as well as a devlopemental opportunity. We win and a statement is made. We lose and we gain valuable experience and more importantly, the hunger grows.

No matter what happens the Cowboys will be a better team at 7:30 Sunday night.

This game is most similar to another game from 92. We started the season 3 - 0 and we played the 3 - 0 Eagles. It was supposed to be a big test for our young team, and a precursor to the playoffs.

We got crushed 31 - 7. A lot of people wrote us off after that. Then we went on to win 5 in a row, while the Eagles lost 3 of their next 4 (one of them was against us). We won the division, hosted them in the playoffs and destroyed them 34 - 10.

For all the hype, that game proved very little about either team. Because in week 4 (or week 6 for that matter) there is still a ton of football to be played.

Here is a post game write up from the first Eagles game in 92.

You have no shot. The Pats beat Buffalo 38-7. You squeezed by Buffalo. This game is going to be a laugher.

so I guess using your logic since you guys barely beat Miami at home and we killed them in their place, and lost to a Giants team that we scored 45 pts on, we're going to run your team off the field too then right?

I think you may have your head in the sand. Dallas hasn't won anything yet, and the rest of the NFC East is not going to roll over. Dallas may win, but it won't be easy.

Hypnotoad is right.
