Normally I will look for the positives and defend against some of the negatives. But try to keep it realistic. But more positive then negative. And would respond to a few posts accordingly.
But I can't disagree with any of the posts as it did look like last year.

Now can it be changed and turned around. Yes, but they sure have a long way to go to do so.
Something needs to change, but I just don't see that happening, as from the play calling and schemes. On both sides of the ball too.

I still think this overall is a good team, but something has been missing for a long time for them putting it all together.
I will still hold off some judgment as the first few games are like their games to get in sync. Something I fault the coaching staff for, as not doing things right in the preseason and TC by playing the starters more.

feel less, read less, think more, then type/speak. 0-1 means very little at this moment.

Not one game. What you saw Sunday was a continuation of last year when we kept falling short in games with backup QBs for a variety of reasons. Sunday was 2015 all over again.

I think that's why some aren't optimistic this morning like you are. We've seen this before.
I feel for me. I took Sunday loss pretty hard and Sydla said it perfectly. It was a continuation of last year. We were playing with our technically 3rd stringer in Dak, Dez looked out of it, we couldn't run, couldn't stop the run, couldn't score TD's and had to settle for field goals, idiotic coaching moves like pulling Morris, and then the final play that could have put us in the win column Twill dives for the 1st down instead of out of bounds. The feel of the game, the way we lost, all of it just seemed like last year and it took away a lot of optimism I had about this season. Especially the idiotic coaching screw ups and the Dunbar/Twill situational stupidity.

I would have rather gotten rolled by 40 points. That would have hurt less. Because now looking back we could have won it if we had a real coach and smart players. The Giants aren't better than us, they just have smarter players and better coaching, and they won from it. If we sucked on paper then I'd be okay with losing. If we were Cleveland, LA, Saints then I wouldn't care as much but we got too much talent on this roster to be losing games like this.

One game? It was more of the same from Garrett's antiquated and predictable offense. It was more of the same wasting of Dez Bryant. It was more of the same undisciplined and stupid players. It was more of the same red zone field goals instead of TDs. It was more of the same 4th quarter defensive breakdowns allowing the winning score after dominating or winning for most of the game. It was more of the same being outcoached, especially in the 4th quarter. Simply, it was more of the same old Jason Garrett era football. I'm not sure it matters what players come and go, Garrett's scheme and coaching style can't do any better than what we see week in and week out every season.
This. "It's just one game"..... but we all know what the outcome of this season will be. I'm glad the media is finally torching Garrett and.saying not having Romo is no longer an excuse.

The one thing I keep hanging my hat on is the 49er game to open the season in 2014. Just one game.

And add to that 3 suspensions and take away your best pass rusher.
And to further add..."Prescott was poised and accurate in his first start.", I'd say he was poised but accurate is questionable - was throwing high on many important throws

I woke up after a great night of watching the Commanders looking pretty bad in almost every facet of the game. Then, even better was watching the Fisher firing countdown begin. (I have it at week 6)

But then I start reading all the posts in fan zone. You'd think the Cowboys got rolled by 40 points. Every single post, fire Marinelli, cut Williams, negative negative.

They came within 5 yards or so of beating a good team with a SB quarterback, All Pro Wr with a two rookies starting in their first game. Cut them a little slack.

How about Claiborne looking a lot better than he has in years. Prescott was poised and accurate in his first start. He didn'the make any real mistakes. That in itself is incredible if you think about it. At least three straight games they've kept ODB out of the end zone. He had 74 total yards and one catch was like 70 of it. Safety play was a lot better, especially with Byron in center field. The few times Eli wanted to throw deep he couldn't because of either the rush or Byron'so range. Did anyone even notice that? And the only time you heard Wilcox's name was when he made a positive play. That alone makes me smile.

I think they need to add another category like the "Ilovetohateonmyteamzone" or something like that.

Oh, and see how many points the Giants hang on NO this week and then reassess your thoughts about the Cowboys D.

I get you man!! I get what everybody else is saying too but sometimes you have to put in good energy to get good vibes back out of it. It definitely could've been worse.

I don't when the Cowboys already lost that weekend. If the best thing you can come up with that made you happy this weekend was a Skins loss, that's pretty sad.

I'd rather not even have to care about the Commanders and just be happy we won.
Again, Skins loss not a "highlight" but gave me a warm and fuzzy.

I had mentioned a bunch of positives in the post. I guess some people just see the loss and nothing else matters. If you didn'the think there would be growing pains with the rookies, you're kidding yourself. But the pains werent as bad as I thought they would be for a first start and that is a "highlight" in my book.

NO! I like wallowing in self pity, wearing sackcloth and spending all day yesterday as a volunteer pallbearer.

It is always feast or famine with some and I prefer the "woe be to us" to the "we're SB bound" group........after the first game.

On the bright side, we're tied for 2nd in the division.

The division leading Eagles beat the worst team, not in LA, and this time the owner won;t have to move the team, the Browns fans will come in overnight and help pack it up. And we know about the Giants. I ain't skeert.

Spot on as usual Coach. I'm more concerned about how to incorporate homemade ravioli into my Sunday Football party feasts.

I can take any loss as long as its not because of the zebras.

I think we win by 20+ next week

I hope you are right, but I don't think there is any way we beat a divisional opponent in their house by 20.

The Skins looked bad, but that was Ben & Brown out there making plays. The skins are not as bad as they looked Monday night.

If the only way you can enjoy the NFL season (and the Cowboys in particular) is if everyone agrees with your rosy outlook, then I suggest you just stay away from internet comments.

Cowboys Zone is for grownups who want to discuss all things Cowboys. Sometimes there is harsh criticism. Sometimes there are over the top paeans to certain players, or owners, or coaches. Sometimes there are furious debates. But one thing that is always lacking is uniformity of opinion. That is a good thing.
