5 bucks says Jerry will not see it. He doesn't read here.

Does anyone on the team?

I know there has to be a couple. Adam freaks me out a little at times so I figure he'd be someone.

Great post, but the only thing Jerry wants from you is silence and the green in your wallet.

I definitely agree about he latter, and that goes for you and for all of us. As I said, it's the only thing we can control. It's the only real "voice" we have and I intend to use mine.

Now, a bad GM can screw us (see Matt Millen). Other than Jimmy and maybe Bill, Jerry's major hires have not been great. Even a guy like Jerry has to have people in the league he can talk to and get advice from. He needs to do his homework. It might be the most important personnel decision he makes for a long time.

I like JJ as GM, he's loaded this team with talent and this years draft was outstanding. The problem is WP. Without discipline, commitment, respect, some fear, and hard word all the talent in the world won't win. WP is soft and easy, and commands zero respect from his team. It kills me when players call him a "players coach", to me, he's a team killer. That's the only problem I have with JJ, he's keeping WP around....

My letter would be brutally honest and to the point.

Mr. Jerry Jones,

Thanks yet again for being the biggest cancer to the Dallas Cowboys, and being part of yet another season of nothing. Thanks to you putting your bigger than the universe ego first and the team a far distant second to that infinitely growing ego, you have yet again shown you care more about trying to dupe the NFL, other owners, coaches, players and fans alike into thinking you are some kind of football genius. Your tremendous ego will not allow you to just get a GM in here who unlike you knows something about how to run a team and actually knows something about football decisions and football itself.

Truth be told Mr. Jones, your trying to be a GM of a football team would be the equivalent of me trying to pass myself off as one of the top genetic engineers in the world. I am sure there are books like "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Genetic Engineering", and while if I read this book, I would gain some interesting knowledge and appreciation for genetic engineers, it still would not even come close to making me a genetic engineer. Unfortunately Mr. Jones, judging what you have done as a GM since Jimmy left and could not make you look smarter than what you really are; you pretty much show the GM knowledge of someone who read "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Being a General Manager in the NFL". While I am sure this book would give some insight about what GMs do, it clearly does not make you a GM.

Face it, you are clearly the dumbest GM in the NFL. You are too busy trying to show the NFL what a mover and shaker you are, all while having your puppet for a coach Wade Phillips so you can meddle with everthing and constantly showing your ignorant face on the sidelines whenever you decide it is time to stink up the sidelines with your presense.

If you were to apply to any other NFL team as a GM, the ownership would laugh themselves silly given your pathetic resume. And please, do not try and claim 3 Super Bowls, every Cowboy fan knows that was all Jimmy, as you have proven yourself to be nothing but a clueless buffoon ever since your ego couldn't deal with Jimmy getting all the accolades. Only YOU think you are a good GM Mr. Jones.

Some people think you are a great owner, I think you are a terrible owner. If you truly gave a crap about the Cowboys instead of your ego, you would hire a real football guy as a GM and sit your a** down and just write out the paychecks and let a real football guy run this team. Because you clearly have nowhere near the smarts or intuition to run this once great team. Mr. Jones, please either hand the team down to your son Stephen or just sell it to someone who puts the Cowboys first, not their mammoth ego.

The really sad part about the whole deal is Jerry Jones has ripped us all off big time and it should be illegal.
He bought the team for about 180 million dollars. Smart move. Then he got the city of Arlington to pay for half of the stadium at 1.1 Billion dollars. Jerry Jones "Pays" for the other half but this is where I think it is against the law. The city of Arlington will get back their money through a sales tax increase. Jerry Jones gets back all of his money from the car rental and hotel taxes in Arlington. How is it that an individual or company can get taxes paid to them? So he will get paid back with interest every penney he puts into the new stadium from taxes. Plus he gets all of the parking lot fees and concession stand money. (Almost pure Profit) He owns 95% of the naming rights to the new stadium and if the highest bidder to the new stadium is Kotex then the Cowboys will be playing at Kotex Feild. The city of Arlington get 5% of the money from the naming and does not have any veto rights to it. The stadium will be named what ever Jerry wants. (Pure Profit!)
Jerry can charge what ever he wants for parking, food, souviners, tickets and naming rights. So he stuck it in us big time and he is not done.
He is a good business man even if he has to run over or ripp off anyone to do it.

Dear Mr. Jones -

By way of introduction, I am 50 years old. I have been a Dallas Cowboys fan since 1966. I started watching games with my father. My 10 year old son now watches games with me. We are three generations of Cowboys fans. On game days, every member of my family wears the jersey of their favorite player. Even our dog has a jersey. When my brother and his son come over for a game, they wear their jerseys. You see, he and his son are also lifetime fans. We have boughts tickets, merchandise and spent countless hours of our life watching games because we love all that WAS the Dallas Cowboys.

This brings me to the point of my letter. I have no doubt that you are the best owner in pro football, if not all of professional sports. Your enthusiasm and commitment to winning, backed with your money, cannot be denied. I am truly thankful that you, not Bill Bidwell or the Ford family or even your friend Al Davis, own my team.

You notice I said "my" team. Yes, you legally own the Cowboys. But the beneficial owners of the team are the the tens of thousands of us who have patronized and paid our dues with our time and heard-earned dollars both well before and after you became the legal owner of the franchise.

As the beneficial owners of this team, we have the right and the expectation to demand better from you, the legal owner, the coaches and the players. You know this is a proud and storied franchise. This team won Super Bowls before you. It had twenty consecutive winning seasons. It was built by a truly legendary and innovative general manager, one of the greatest and most innovative coaches of any sport, and many legendary players. Mr. Jones, the team you fielded this year was disgraceful. All season there has been nothing but turmoil, selfishness, laziness, poor workmanship and attention to craft, lack of heart, lack of character (I could go on and on but you get the point). This team and the general state of the organization is a disgrace to its history and the many men who served it over the past four decades, not to mention we fans who love it dearly. Yes, we have had several "characters" on this team, even during the Landry/Schramm years. But, as a team, these are not the Dallas Cowboys I grew up with. But for a handful of these players, do they even care that they wear the star? Do they understand what it means, or are they here to collect a paycheck? I think about Emmitt's tearful retirement, when he talked about the organization and what it meant to him. Where are the men who care?

Even during the wasteland years of the mid to late 80's, I always carried hope that things would turn around. Now, I despair because I see no hope. Your comments last night affirm that. You see, while you are the greatest owner we could ask for, (for all the turnover in coaches, players and front office staff) the one constant since 1996 has been you as the GM of this club. As the GM, YOU are the problem. I hear the Browns want to talk to Scott Pioli. I ask, why aren't we wanting to talk to him? Is it because you will not allow yourself to see what everyone sees, which is you do not have the ability to manage the day-to-day football operations without help from an insider. While I never cared for Bill Parcels as a person, the man ate, slept and lived football. He truly understood it in all its facets. It is no coincidence the culture changed when he came here. It is no coincidence who he took with him and what they have accomplished in one year in Miami. It is no coincidence that two years after he left, we are back to where he started - poor play, poor attention to detail and prima donnas who are above the team.

So, Mr. Jones, on behalf of myself and my family who have supported this team for three generations, on behalf of other fans who feel the same way, I ask you to look deep within yourself and realize that this thing is simply too complicated and too screwed up for even a man of your talents to fix. I am not saying hire Scott Pioli. But there has to be the next Pioli out there. Find him. You have the contacts and the respect in the league. That is your job. Then, do what all successful executives do, and delegate. I will always support the Dallas Cowboys because I am a lifelong fan. But, until I see you make meaningful changes to restore this organization to the one I remember (a winning tradition and players with character), I intend to exercise the only control I really have. I will not buy a single ticket, jersey, shirt, jacket, beer koozie, decal or any other item that will put a nickel in your pocket, and I will do my best to see that my family and friends do not. I will not renew my True Blue memberships for myself or my family. If others do as I do, perhaps you will get the message that we do not want this team to be the Oakland Raiders of the east. Please consider this carefully. Only you have the power to change.

Thank you.

I concure 100% Bravo :bravo: :bravo: :bravo: :bravo: :bravo: :bravo: :bravo:

I disagree, Mansta, with your first sentence. He's loaded this team with NAMES who THINK they have TALENT because the talking heads say they do. Look at Roy Williams yesterday. Poor route running, unable to make a guy miss, poor attitude. Look at Pacman - problems on an off the field. Heck, Crayton is a better punt returner. TO gives up on balls, drops balls, rarely comes back on balls, has problems separating. Jason Garrett - completely ridiculous. We have a third and inches and we throw to TO? (Have you ever seen TO go through a guy to pick up a first down like Witten? Never!). That's not NFC East football! Jay Ratliff - great player but he needs to be playing tackle. Where is the run stopper in the middle of our 3-4? Zach Thomas - aging middle linebacker who's played 4-3 mike his whole career. They bring him in to play outside and take on down lineman? Even he admits, his reads are different - he's learning a new position in the twilight of his career! That is poor front office work. Even our offensive philosophy - we play in the NFC East - slobberknocker football. Yet, we are becoming a finesse team. I could go on.

I totally agree about Wade. I am sure he's a super nice man but he has lost this football team and any fool can see it.

Excellent letter.

But you know what? On opening day, that billion dollar stadium will be filled up to the brim with people. Jerry could hire Bozo the clown as coach (wait he already has) and fans wouldn’t care...it’s the Cowboys, dude. And with the new stadium, his mega marketing of the Cowboys has just begun.

Well thats the way to get to him right in his pockets $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Dont go ! dont spend money on his crap... and you will see how fast it will change. Otherwise we will be the Chicago Cubs....just a bloody event club...

Testify, brother!

Well, I am glad I made you laugh. That was not the intent. I truly mean it, Jerry Jones is clearly the dumbest GM in the NFL. I feel like sending Jerry Jones that shirt that states "Your village just called, they said their idiot is missing" And I might just send him that shirt.

When I posted that letter, it was out of a lot of anger and brutal honesty. I am so beyoned ticked off. Until Jerry is gone, this team will be a soap opera, not a football team.

I hope you are wrong, Batman. I take some consolation in the fact that after the debacle that began with Switzer winning Jimmy's last Super Bowl and ending with Campo, Jerry did hire Parcells. I understand Parcells burned out on coaching. I wish Jerry would have had it in him to hire Parcells for front office, instead of the Dolphins. Of course, Parcells may have "retired" to get the hell away from Jerry.

write Jerrah's response:

Dear fan:

Thank you for your concerns. Rest assure that we are doing everything possible not to let this happen again. Wade Philips, his staff, as well as the entire front office will work tirelessly this offseason to bring back the Dallas Cowboys to where they rightfully belong. It's what fans like you deserve. Please keep up your support as we'll be needing it for years to come.

Sincerely:

J.W.Jones.

Oh, I totally agree. The futility of the situation is depressing, and his arrogance unparalleled. I love the business savvy owner, but loathe the GM.

Dear Mr.Jones,

I have been a cowboy fan since 92 when I was 6 Years Old. I would consider myself a die hard fan. I am one that appreciates your willingness to put a quality product on the field. But I must plead with you to end the madness and the circus your team has become. First off that twinkie that you currently call a head coach must go. He is a defensive coordinater and nothing more. What he has in defensive knowledge he lacks in intestinal fortitude. You need someone that can control your team and he obviously cannot. Secondly, please stop siging criminals and bi-polar wide recievers. You can breed a environment of winning when you have emotionally fragile toddlers. Adam Jones, Tank Johnson and Terrell Owens all must go. You cannot expect your quaterback to run the offense and play shrink at the same time. I would provide two examples of true football players. Demarcus Ware and Jason Witten are the kind of players that win championships. They do what they're told, they play their ***** off and the keep their mouths shut.
Watching you over the last 17+ years I feel like your turning into a combination of Al Davis and George Steinbrenner. Please hire a GM and Director of Football Operations. Anyone will do. Except Matt Millen. I hope you know that the game your team "played" on sunday was about the most gutless performance I have ever seen. Americas Team that was not. France maybe. So I implore you not to be a stubborn, senile, old man and give someone else a chance to run the show.

Signed,

Doug G

A concerned cowboy fan from brooklyn.
