Here are the options, from my lounge chair (all assume QBs go 1 and 2); many will say "take Elliott", but not at #4 for me...if one of these small trade downs happen, then yup, I am on board
1) Ramsey is gone @ 3
Options: Draft Tunsil, make trade
- Draft Tunsil: you have the best young OLine for the next decade; regardless of who the QB or RB are, they will have the Great Wall of Texas (and not the one Trump wants to build)
- Trade options:
Tenn: the much spoken of trade with the Titans nets us 2- 2nd rounders to go with #15 in Rd1 and IMO, they should get more than that based on the two trades made to get to #1 and #2, respectively; if this happens, you likely go Lynch @ QB or defense if Lynch gone
Balt: sure, their "needs" don't suggest wanting the OT with their pick, but who thought this guy was going to be there? I could see them moving up two spots by giving us their 2nd rounder (w/ their #6) or possibly their 3rd and 4th rounders; this is where you grab Elliott
2)Tunsil is gone @ 3
Options: Draft Ramsey, make trade
- Draft Ramsey: I have not been shy saying that this guy is the best in the draft (along with Tunsil) so him "falling" to Dallas @ #4 is ah-ite by me. Pair him @ safety with Jones, you have the secondary not only being better this year, but for many years to come - AND, at safety, he isn't going to cost a King's ransom with a 2nd contract
- Trade Options:
Balt: again, they "need" a DB and have had ridiculous success with their safety's; trading up for Ramsey isn't out of the question
Bucs (#9): they want DB, and Ramsey could be there; 1st, 2nd and 4th?
3) Both Ramsey and Tunsil still there @ #4
- Draft Ramsey: I still feel he has potential to be amongst the best in this draft class
- Trade Options:
See Above: This option would make me fall off of my chair if I were the GM of Dallas; that would epitomize the "holding all cards" scenario; teams wanting Ramsey (for example) might have to out bid other teams that want Tunsil, or vice-versa.
Other potential Trade partners:
Bears (#11): They need/want DL and have us move out of the top 10, then the deal starts with their first and 2nd; they could be looking at choosing between Buckner and Bosa if they move up to #4
Dolphins (#13): They surely would love to get a crack at Elliott; their 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gets their foot in the door but would have to give more than the Bears who likely have to give 3 picks to move up
Titans (#15): This has been widely discussed; they have A LOT of picks at their disposal having 3- 2nd rounders and the first pick in the 3rd (along with their first)l if Tunsil is there, look for an offer
I would hate to move down further than that, but who know what will be dangled out there. What say you?
