I think there are a few players who will benefit from the bye:

Tyron and his back
Dez and his back
Mo Clairborne
Zeke - fresh legs

got a few other lineman who are dinged....

I would expect when Dallas wraps up the #1 seed that the players will get the weekend off on wild card weekend. After that they should be back at practice. If it were my call I would bring in several of the 90's player to stress to this team that in post season every snap of the ball is critical you can't take plays off in post season you have to remain focused and execute to the letter each and every time. Thing with post season it is a 1 and done affair you win or go home.

During the week of practice I think the staff needs to up tempo the practice to keep players focused.

just my 2 cents

First round bye is only a positive in my opinion. Get healthy, get focused, no travel draw-backs, come out strong at home as the title contender from the NFC. If they somehow come out flat, unprepared, soft, and entitled-- that is on coaching and lazy preparation.

Both would be uncharacteristic for this team. The 2007 loss to NYG was unfairly blamed on Tony's cabo trip. The reality was TO was hurt and our performance had been dipping that Dec anyway. Also-- the NYG were peaking at the perfect time and it took several miscues on our part and lucky bounces on their part for us to lose that game.

No fear this season. Go out and take control of your own destiny. This team has the talent, character, execution, and heart to win it all. Go out and prove the doubters wrong.

blah, blah, blah, media hype, they're always finding a molehill and making a mountain out of it. Somehow coming off of a regular season bye week is a good thing but having a first round bye in the playoffs is going to sink your season? Not! I'd rather have the bye and NOT play in Seattle or Atlanta or Green Bay or New York. Home please.

A 1st round bye is essentially a playoff win.

Only needing 1 win (at home) to get into the conference championship game is YUGE!!!

Assuming Dallas does indeed lock up a 1st round bye for the playoffs, does this make anybody nervous?

I'm feeling pretty indifferent about it. I think it's obviously more of a good thing but this team seems to love to play on a roll. IIRC didn't we look flat coming off our bye week this season?

Don't get me wrong, I want it and I'll take it,
I'm just wanting to hear opinions about it.
Good thing. This staff will keep them focused and they will come out fresh for the final SB push.

I most definitely don't want them going to NY in January so yes, homefield is an advantage here.

Good point. Well let's just say keep them away from any beaches period. Focus focus focus. There plenty of time for all that extra stuff "after" they do the unimaginable.
I hear ya.
As long as not drinking and staying out of bars at any other location (including in your house) is also included. lol

Just a side note though...just because I always thought that Cabo drama years ago was off-base.
Drinking beer (or liquor) two hours away from here and drinking the same (or more) at home or in Dallas has exactly the same impact.
In fact, possibly being outdoors more and maybe walking or jogging on the beach--mostly away from all the Dallas and national press for a couple of days-- might be healthier than pounding drinks in bars and strip clubs or in front of TV here in Dallas--which is what many of these guys will do in the off week.

I know, old story, but I always thought it was overblown.

This is an excellent point going forward.

Troy couldn't throw a wet ball, and Dak seems uncomfortable in cold weather. Not the right division to be in if that's the case.

Actually he seems uncomfortable against the best passing defense in the NFL which makes more sense than his arms being cold

No doubt in my mind. We want a bye and the extra rest. %'s work in our favor.

Are you basing that on one game or did you see something in college?
