1st Round Pick (Should be one of these 5)

1. Jonathan Cooper- To me this is the best prospect for us, he is quick on his feet and fits the zone blocking scheme. His flexibility to play either center or guard makes this pick a no brainer if he falls to 18.

2. Chance Warmack- Best guard in the draft, he is a bruiser perfect for run blocking and will bring stability in the middle.

3. Kenny Vaccaro- Safety has been neglected for far too long, he is another person who brings huge flexibility to the position. He can play SS or FS and can cover well in the slot. Good hitter just not sure about his speed. But puts himself in great position.

4. Sheldon Richardson- Jay Ratliff days will be numbered if this is the pick. (meaning last year in big D) Richardson will bring much needed youth to the line and a huge disruptive force. Kiffin needs to have a stud at the 3 tech. This will also help Spencer and Ware in getting better match ups.

5. Tavon Austin- I know we do not need this but if the other four are gone, and Tavon is on the board with no trade partners, he will be the BPA. Dez and Tavon would be scary together for years to come. We are looking at wide receiver help so don't be surprise if we go this route. I have heard that Dallas has interest but not to the same degree as the ones above.

If all these are gone, best scenario is hope for a trade partner in my opinion.

Your thoughts? And I know I for one would welcome any of these 5 to Cowboys Nation.

Also, this is my order by preference, what is yours?

I agree with your list and the order.

Add DJ Fluker to that list and I think you have it.

I add his name because I think if those players you listed are gone and they can not get a trade down partner...they would be content in taking Fluker.

Remember, in order to trade down you have to have a team willing to trade up for a pick and if those players are gone chances are not too many are willing to trade up unless it is for one of the QBs and if the QBs another team likes is falling they might look at the teams remaining in the first and figure they could trade up with one of the other teams after dallas because most of the teams after dallas in the first round already have a QB and probably won't draft one.

Just something to keep in mind.

So if all of those players are gone...I would say Fluker might be the next on the list if they can't get a trade down.

Another name of interest is WR D. Hopkins from Clemson as they have scheduled a visit with him and some are saying he is a later first round pick.

Studied all 15 of Tavon Austin's TDs from 2012. 14 of 15 would've counted in a 2 hand touch league. Defenders can't touch him! #Dynamic!

If we take vaccaro round 1 we are the dumbest team on the planet. Seriously.

I agree on Fluker but today I heard on the Fishsports that Fluker was not one of the 30 prospects to come into valley ranch. He makes sense to me but maybe they value tackles in the second round versus the first? It could be smoke screen but I found it interesting.

Hopkins reminds me of Roddy White and Boldin mixed together. The man can make some crazy catches in traffic but doesn't seem to be a burner.

Who's visiting VRanch: from my #Cowboys confirmed list: NOT DJ Fluker, from what I hear. Hmm

???

He's the consensus best S in the draft and S is a position of need for us. That pick would make a ton of sense.

It's just that other picks make more sense and there are going to be S opportunities later. The same argument about position depth can be said at DT and OG, too, though.

Vaccaro is drawing interest from many teams and may be gone before he gets to us, but Pitt, Tenn, and Rams are all interested. So thats quite a few teams that feel he has talent.

Don't put too much time into him.

In another thread he was adamant that we not draft a WR until round six.

He won't even be a top 3 safety in his class. Huff was consensus top safety also. Use your eyes. And I'd make an exception for a wr third round or later. Only wr I'd take round 2 is Austin.

5. Tavon Austin (I just don't see the Boyz drafting him at all; I think if hes there and the other 4 are gone it's a trade down with someone wanting Tavon)

Also I do not want Vaccaro at #18 would love for Warmack or Cooper and no problem with Sheldon Richardson but if we go Sheldon than in Round 2 we need to address OL.

If a reciever is a great value, i'd consider it as early as round 3. But if we take a wr in round 1, I may literally not watch a Cowboys game till serious changes are made.

I hear people make silly statements like that all the time only to continue to see them haunt the forum and complain.

If it happens...stick to your word.

Why the personal stuff? We all want Dallas to improve. Manwuththeplan said the same thing I did. Why on earth would we not get one of these talented safeties in round 2/3 is beyond me.

As for Vaccarro, he's a good player. There are other good players to get in rounds 2/3. For the record, Rambo is EASILY better than Vacarro.

If all the first round trench prospects are gone I'd consider Tavon. Vacarro is just a joke to me as a first rounder.

of a need to land some studs on the OL to keep Romo healthy. This has been an ongoing problem with the Boyz. We need an above average OL to protect Romo and be able to have a consistent Running game which currently we have neither :(

Great post, agree with the list and the order. I'm thinking that Cooper and Warmack are gone at 18 though and have been thinking we take Vacarro.

Now I'm thinking Richardson will be the guy however, and I would be fine with trading down also.

I would switch Richardson for Vaccaro but I like your five overall.

Fair question, probably won't get a fair response.

I like Vaccaro a lot, would be pumped to grab him in the first.

I understand the concerns when it comes to him not causing a ton of turnovers in college, but I think a lot of that comes from the system he played in and the teams he played against. I think he's going to be a great NFL safety.

I gave a fair response. He's a soft guy who makes no plays. Same people who like him probably liked Huff coming out also and I felt the same about him.
