I thought about K'Lavon Chaisson but I don't think the Patriots let him leave in FA. It's tough to find a pass rusher that other teams won't outbid you on. A lot of these edges will just resign with their team. With the team switching to an odd man front, David Bailey would be the dream pick at 12.

Enjoyed your write but I don't see Clark excepting a pay cut. Why should he. Trade him he diffidently has value

So, you think they will keep Steele? I don't.
Earlier on in the process, I was sour on Steele returning. As the season went on and the Defense showed their ineptitude, I changed gears. There are way to many holes to cover on this sinking ship of a D. If you cut Steele and save 14m you then have another hole to plug. I think he is a goner next year for sure; times change. He is serviceable and Dak has shown he can play at a high level with the line they posses now.

Load up on Defense and address Tackle in the top 100 next draft.

He is expensive and has been on a downward trajectory year in and year out. If they rework his contract he can get more guaranteed money. With his decline in productivity, a pay cut of the overall base salary would make sense for both parties. He will get real money over two years, no matter what he plays like and Dallas will hold onto a key piece. They need him if they are going to run odd man fronts with more frequency.

His trade value is probably around a 4th round pick. The team that trades for him won't want to pay him 20m+ per year, so they would have to offer him a new deal.

He has zero Guaranteed money on his contract and Dallas could cut him at any time; no dead money. He would definitely consider a pay cut. I really think the odds of Dallas reworking his deal are pretty high.

If you can somehow get 20 or so sacks from your Edges, EZE, Clowney, Ojulari and others, then the interior can make up for the rest. The strength of the team is the IDL. OSA, Clark and Quinnen will have to get about 6 sacks a piece. The stray sacks that come in from the Corners and Off-ball linebackers will get about 8 sacks.
40-50 sacks in total would have ranked in the top 10 in 2025 for teams total sacks.

Parker will play a multiple defense with a crap ton of simulated pressures. The sacks will come from everywhere. I don't think Dallas will need a 20 sack End to establish a solid defense.

Dallas only had 35 sacks last year(24th) so players like EZE and Clowney would have to contribute more for sure.

Those 3 players have combined for a total of 17 sacks over the last TWO SEASONS. And you’re counting on them for 18 next year? Good luck with that.

A few nitpicks.
Everytime Clowney has gotten a 2nd contract he's taken the following season off.
Buyer beware of anything multi year.
Ojulari can't stay on the field.
I'm not sure why you'd think they'd have any interest in Goedert!

Everything points to them going to a 1 gap system similar to what Fangio runs. In part so they could label the 3 DTs they're paying as starters.
The one gap system doesn't require a massive NT because it relies on shooting gaps over pure power. Denver and Seattle both excelled defensively this year playing a 1 gap with NTs who were 6' 305.
What's more Clark played and excelled in a one gap system his first 7 seasons in the league. Part of what they're relying on in switching systems is that they already have the essential 3 DTs and backups needed to play it and can focus on LBs and secondary with they're limited resources.
I just don't see them dropping high end picks on DTs unless it's someone who's fallen multiple rounds.
Clarks base can be restructured to save around 7.6 million on this years cap and that's most likely what they'll do but regardless he's going to be the starting NT in the base defense!

So, you think they will keep Steele? I don't.
I'd say it's almost certain they keep Steele for a multitude of reasons.
They already have 24m in dead cap.
The June 1st designation would excellerate this season half of the dead cap into this years cap limiting free agency but wouldn't save anything until after June 1st.
They could strait cut him next season and save more than what they'd roll over into next season.
He's still one of the best run blocking OTs. The combination of pulling Smith to the right along with Booker and Steele was repeated bread and butter.
In the grand scheme Steele only gave up 6 sacks this season playing on a island more than normal for a RT because most of the chips and help RTs normally receive was focused on the left.
In the end they don't have a legitimate replacement for him and have limited resources that would be better spent focusing on the defense!

What downward trajectory?
He had 3 sacks and 44 pressures last season!

For comparison Dexter Lawrence who seems to be held as the gold standard on this board had .5 and 20 pressures!

The last time Q Willams played in a similar one gap 34 system he produced 12 sacks. 27 1/2 total in that system. He's had 13 3 seasons since.

Think it was pretty obvious they had Ez focus on the run first this season. Think he'll be able to open it up more this season.

Osa had 53 pressures, QWill 52, and Clark 44, as long as they get something similar I think they'll be happy!

Philly defense was top 5 I think with only 5 more sacks but created phenomenal pressur.
We just need the back end to do they're part and limit the explosive plays and 3rd down conversions. Do that and the pretty stats will come!

I didn't realize Dexy had less than a sack this year. Pretty steep decline from his 9 sacks last season.

If Parker wants to follow in Elko and Fangio's penetrating 3-4 Defense and not alter or form his own scheme, I think that Darrell Jackson could hold up there. For a fridge, the guy has some movement skills, his reach is crazy too. 35 inch arms vs those short armed interior blockers at least adds a different element.

My favorite Day 3 upfield Defensive Tackles are
Chris McClellan, Missouri and Carlos Allen Jr., Houston... Allen didn't have many sacks but he led the nation in Tackles by an interior Defensive Tackle.
