1. He said this about Carr: “He does a lot of things we aspire on defense, which is play that hard, press, physical kind of man-to-man coverage he's played throughout his entire career.”

I believe this means we'll play way more press coverage on the outside with he and Jenkins as that seems to be Jenkins' strength as well.

2. He also said that we view Arkin mainly as a guard and only made that expatiation in regards to Arkin. The rest of the young players (Costa, Kowalski and Nagy) where collectively addressed as interior players.

This tells me that there will be a competition between those 3 guys for the center position and we feel good about one of them performing admirably. It also squashes whatever news we were hearing about Narkin working at Center.

Hmmm... I hope they are right about this. Either way, Calahan did workout the Wisconsin Center (can't think of his name at the moment) so it's still a possibility that JJ drafts another Center as well.

That is good because really bored with whole giving it away playing 10 yards off thing.

Everyone is writting off Costa, I dont think he's as done as many believe.

He's not. He's a whipping boy. He's also probably as good as he's going to get, though, so he becomes a valuable backup if we're able to upgrade the OC position later.

We do obviously need a better starting center, though.

EDIT: Garrett's PC was pretty good, btw, if anyone's interested. Gives some good insight into what the team was thinking with some of the signings and a sense of the direction we're taking this offseason.

I agree but Im curious as to why they continued to start him over Kowalski all season if they thought Kowalski had more potential even in spite of Costa's obvious troubles snapping from the shotgun.

And for the record I thought killa did a good job filling in when he did, especially the 49er game.

Me too we basically had a Terence Newman fathead playing CB for us the last half of the season so anything is a improvement.

Re: Kowalski, I thought he played really well, too. Especially for a rookie who hasn't had the full benefit of a quality weight training program. I have no problem with the team betting on him developing into an eventual starter as long as they surround him with young competition for playing time.

It must have been that Costa was more consistent during the week and they trusted him more, because in games, I thought they were pretty comparable, with Kowalski looking slightly better, honestly. K's got a lot more upside, too, given his inexperience. I think he's a player.

everyone should be writing him off!

He is not an NFL starter!

He started 16 games for the Dallas Cowboys last season.

What about Free, he was a turnstile last season, is he an NFL Starter?

Just have to see how the process plays out, and then evaluate the progression in the process.

I personally would love to see Arkin win a G spot and Bernadeau win the other G spot... Nagy win the C spot and Costa and Killer K could both be backup G/Cs. That way we could trade back in the first and get another 2. Draft Poe #1, Irvin and whatever CB they like best #2s etc.

You know its possible they may be comfortable with going with players we have on the roster and drafting Oline in the later rounds.

I dont know if Decastro is a lock with that 14th pick. I'd be plenty happy if we took him there but I could see us going Dline at that spot or even trading back and picking up another second. If Cox, Ingram or Upshaw is still on the board when we pick its a tough decision.

One more thing I forgot to mention:

When talking about WRs to replace Laurent Robinson he did discuss Ogletree at length. It was almost like he didn't realize that we never tendered him and haven't signed him.

I agree. I think the team really likes Costa.

The talent drop off between Robinson and OTree is vast. I dont think he gets it and at this point he should.

He's talking to the GMen so we might not have to worry about him much longer

Watching when Free played JPP was so painful. I mean during and after that game, JPP had to be laughing and making fun of Free, he was treating him like a rental car.

This is a gladiator sport, that kinda stuff does carry over and its not a good thing for the respect of our team overall.

With that first post watch your mail for pipe bombs.

It will be interesting to see how they handle this situation but Poe does have so much upside at a premium position, its hard to avoid him.

This is also why I think Poe won't be there at #14 anyway.
