1. This one has two outcomes that wouldve iced the game
Romo Audibles out of a run play and throws a pass intended for Austin but is a INT.

Should've been 2 other outcomes.
a. Just run it, Murray was still above 5 yrds a carry in the 2nd half where the Pack were loaded in the box. OL was still creating lanes to run in. It was 2nd and 6. The OL was still on their run blocking assignments. And you can still see that Murray would've most likely had another 1st down. Thats 4 more downs to run the clock down.

b. Just lead Austin forward instead of throwing behind him if you wanted to play the hero Romo. Mathews came on a blitz forcing Romo to avoid Mathews. But Romo shouldnt have even allowed for that much pressure to exsist. That flash play is supposed to be a bang bang play. Get the ball 1 step back bang ball out and Austin was open from the point that the ball was hiked.

The play was there in both accounts, but Romo wanted to play hero.

2. The second play came on Dallas next drive on 1st and 10.
Dallas runs a pass to Murray out in the flat, and it was WIDE open. But Murray took his eyes off the ball and started to look ahead instead of just making the play. He knew he had space, because there was virtually nobody around him. Perfect play called. Wouldve gained atleast 15 yrds, minimum.

Resulted in 2 more passes being called, 3 and out.

Coaching and poor execution did this game in.

There are a lot more then two plays that could have iced that game. Orlando Scandrick in the endzone is one that sticks out to me also. Also some of the misses on the deep passes. Every third down the defense allowed the packers to convert in the second half ect.

That would be funny if a QB was sitting back there actually thinking he wanted to play the hero. I'm pretty sure he thought Beasley could get another 9 yards and get outta bounds to stop the clock. Looked to me like Beasley stopped on the route and the ball was also wide and hurried. Just my 2 cents.

There are many more.

Scandrick had an easy interception thrown right to him in the endzone and he didn't catch it and it was a touchdown. Shields makes an incredible interception catching up to Austin and diving however.

Romo threw a perfect pass to Dez in the end zone but as babe said on the broadcast Dez slowed down for some reason and then couldn't catch up. We kicked a field goal.

Lots of reasons and the only one that matters is right below this sentence.

If Romo was actually on target and accurate and hit Dez for an easy TD or at least a huge gain on the very first play of that drive. That would have been ball game.

If the Defense had forced one punt in the second half we would have won. Worst case and the offense three and outs it, you're taking a little more time off the clock and changing field position.

One punt.

If you looks at it holistically we could have broken them in the first half. Romo missed some intermediate and long passes when we could have run and controlled the ball wearing their defense to the end zone instead of field goals in the first half. Romo had some wide open short routes and a fabulous run game going yet kept pushing the long ball just asking the pack to stay in the game.
Complete stupidity on coaches and Romo.

These threads kill me. All this talking on message boards in the offseason, and 3-4 games come down to a blown coverage or an inopportune pick or a dropped interception or a holding call on a running play. It stinks.

You really can't win football games like that. Not consistently anyway.

It's like expecting your pitcher to pitch a no hitter every time he goes out there. Great if it happens but if that's your plan you are pretty much toast.

On the Matthews blitz, Romo had nothing but green grass to his right. The ball should have never been thrown.

I think you mean left, but it was open. I do remember another GB pass rusher closing in on him though.

In fairness, Matthews made a great play on that. The design of the play was supposed to fool him to crash down on the run. It was not a designed blitz by him, he just recognized that Romo might flash out to the pass and charged him.

If you look at the play again, Austin needs time to shed the defender and get to the inside. There is no way Romo can just take a step back and throw, he needs to account for Matthews.

There is a great photo breakdown of the play here.

That's not to say Romo didn't miss the throw - he did. But as far as he knows he has a charging Clay Mathews at his back and rushed it, causing it to be slightly behind Austin. Ballgame.

that big dummy Jessie holley said on the postgame that romo could have run for 20 yards on the play and never should have thrown the ball...then of course ben and skin go along with him for 3 hours like its a fact. I just roll my eyes at the insanity that comes out of peoples mouths.

if romo throws that a little sooner Austin probably scores and we are putting the play on the huge highlight reel of amazing plays romo has made.......but don't worry there wouldn't be a nfl network top 10 of that, nor would anyone be yelling about not running today.
nor would romo ever tell anyone garrett called a running play.

but the ball was thrown late and shield made a great play.

Matthews did as well. If he doesn't recognize the "smoke" and charge right at Romo, Tony sets his feet and most likely throws a strike to Austin, who is then off to the races.

And even the 3 GB defenders right in front of him not withstanding, anyone who thinks Romo is gaining 20 yards on a scramble ever again is smoking something.
