that we NEED to get are

Tom Zbikowski

This guy's toughness and leadership is second to none. he also makes so many plays for ND, and is extremely versatile.

LaRon Landry

Best ball-hawking safety since Ed Reed. Need i say more?
6"2" 180 little on the skinny side, but isn't as skinny as Pat Watkins

We would be foolish to NOT get LaRon Landry, i'm telling you he is Ed Reed.

If that means trade up to grab him go for it.

and plus who is out there in free agency next year?

I like how we're all throwing our hands up in disgust at Watkins already. Give the kid a chance, will ya?

And replacing Roy is a joke. I've been saying this since Darren Woodson left - put a safety who can cover something next to RW and Roy's coverage issues are no longer a liability.

It's not really that difficult. Any safety built like Roy is going to have trouble when he has to compensate for somebody like Keith Davis. Ahem, ahem - strong safeties aren't supposed to have strong coverage abilities, and Roy's are adequate for the position.

I haven't given up on Watkins, that's why i questioned a third year of rookie safties.

Who wanted to replace Roy?

Why else would you waste a first or second round draft pick on Zbikowski?

I haven't givin up on him either, but what if he still doesn't get it in year 2?

Landry has the best ball skills of any safety to come out in awhile.

I've watched him since his sophomore year.

Tom is a playmaker also

To be groomed behind Watkins and Landry
Tom is a playmaker, and can play both safety spots. He is definitely athletic enough

You can't base high draft picks on uncertainties like that. You go by what you know, and what you know is that there are five positions on the offensive line that could either use new starters or new starters in the near future.

Landry is a top 10 pick next year, and with where Whitner and Allen went in last years' draft, I'd be willing to be he would have been at least top 20 had he come out after his junior year. It would take far too much to trade up for a position that finally has a developmental talent.

The Cowboys need to attack offensive line in the draft aggressively, and then maybe you look for somebody to compete with Watkins and Davis.

We don't have much tied into Watkins because he is a 5th rounder, so IMO we can grab another one this year, and if watkins gets it in year 2 great, if not we got one in round 1 like a Landry.

I agree we also need Oline help, and DLine help.

thats the 3 positions i would target in the draft.

Poor Watkins getting no credit. The kid is all over the field... sure he's been burnt twice on big plays but he's a rookie. Not to mention against the Eagles if Ellis makes a play on McNabb after going untouched we would have never knew Watkin was beat. And the 2nd, Plax made a helluva a catch with the ref taking out Roy. 2 plays that could have easily been erased but its out luck so far. Stop entertaining an idea of drafting safeties in the 1st round. We have other needs that can be addressed instead of wasting another draft pick on a FS.

Maybe your right but i feel very strongly that Landry is going to have an Ed Reed type impact in the NFL. and if we give up our 1st, 2nd and 5th to grab him i would. But thats just me.

we can still grab a few OLINE, and DLINE in the later rounds

I like Watkins , but he doesn't have very good ball skills, and im not too sure he will ever. He might, but i really want Landry. I know im repeating myself, but i just got my mind on him again tonight, and i cant stop thinking what he can do to help our secondary

Bring Kenny Gant out of retirement, he had a signature big play dance....but he mostly played special teams, he was also number 29 so he was pretty much a less bullet proof version of Davis, never mind let's just work with what we got.

He is not Ed Reed. IF we could get the real Ed Reed for that price then YES.
