There are more than two things that can happen. The most likely is one the OP doesn't mention, I guess because it doesn't make as good a story. What will most likely happen is that everyone does their jobs, the defense is still excellent but not as good as it has been, and games play out accordingly.

So. I was devastated yesterday after hearing the news about Diggs. Not only is he a top player at his position but his voice and attitude in the locker room is going to be a massive loss for this team. Micah thank God will still be there to rally the troops and lead the defense but anyone making it seem like losing Diggs is just a next man up thing are totally out to lunch.

I was of the mind to make a move for a CB immediately as this team has what it takes to go all the way and sitting on our hands is not the way to go in my opinion. However after sleeping on it. I think that may be the way. Hear me out.

This is the kind of injury that can galvanize a team together. Make them rally around their fallen teammate and make them 10 times stronger mentally. I've seen this in sports countless times. Most recent memory is the Italian national team in the Euro cup. (yes i know soccer is different) However they lost their star LB (left back for those who dont know) and they rallied around him and won the whole thing. This also happened in my playing days. Soccer not football. I tore my ACL and MCL in the semis of our championship season and the team rallied around me and won the final game. I wont go into detail about my history in soccer but lets just leave it as I was a big part of the team and the captain.

The other side of it is the team loses its focus and starts to implode. I dont see that happening.

Moments like this can make or break your season. And I think this team and its mental makeup with Micah and Coach Mike have what it takes to rally around Diggs and play even harder. McCarthy has been here before. Coincidently in his SB win year, where the lost a lot more than one starter. So he knows what needs to happen.

What say you?
I think you're over dramatizing good this.

Every team loses players. Brown's just lost Nick Chubb...maybe forever. Jets lost Rogers.

So if EVERY team has this "rally around" life changing epiphany you are trying to describe when their players get hurt...then it all cancels out, and it's just football again. I think you are talking about your emotion as a fan, rather than what these players feel. They're got in their car and showed up for work today just like most of us did....it's their job.

I think it’s time to put an end to the Diggs threads. Time to move on.

Thank you. The Cowboys will be exactly like they were before...minus the talent of Diggs. That is all.

Fans try to put their own emotions on the team to make themselves feel better.

In reality....it would be like showing up to work at your own job and finding out somebody important had quit. That's happened to all/most of us in the professional world.

Do we gather everyone together in the break room and give ram rah speeches???..."LET'S GO BE 10% MORE PRODUCTIVE GUYS IN HONOR OF BOB FROM ACCOUNTING QUITTING!!!!!"

no....you adjust...get back to work...and do ur job without Bob.

I am a little concerned about how Dallas will deal with speed receivers. I think Diggs show more makeup speed than either Gilmore or Bland. I expect other teams will try Bland a lot at first and either he steps up or it will only get worse for him in the long run.

Bland stepped up last yr and lead the team in ints, as a rookie. He's playing great right now, so yes imo it's next man up. Bland was thrown into the fire last yr and he didn't back down but flourished. This isn't a defense that doesn't have a passrush. The passrush is forcing bad throws.

What I want to see is how Diggs does with rehab. Is he going to put in the extra work like Gallup and Steele did and come back ready to go. Or is he going to go thru the motions. I'm more concerned about that then what's gonna go on the field. Cause we have seen Diggs put in the work, but we have also seen him do business decisions.

They made a move when they traded for Gilmore. You can look at it this way, Gilmore replaces Diggs and Bland replaces Anthony Brown from last year. The secondary is still very good.
