20 Questions: 1, Can the Defense Make this Team a Contender

No. You are wrong on basic facts.

Dallas did not acquire any 4th round picks in the Micah trade.

They could have made that trade regardless of having another first. They could "afford" it anyway.

None of them were contingent on the cap savings from not signing Micah. They basically just reallocated money from players they let walk. Not even accounting for traded players:

Lost Player - Cap Savings

Donovan Wilson - $8.7m
Dante Fowler - $6m
Kenneth Murray - $7.5m
Jalen Tolbert - $3.6m
Jadeveon Clowney - $3.5m
Total - $29.3m

Signed Player - Cap Hit

Jalen Thompson - $4.6m
Cobie Durant - $4m
PJ Locke - $4m
Jonathan Bullard - $2m
Otito Ogbonnia - $2.4m
Dee Winters - $3.7m
MVS - $1.3m
Total - $22m

No, that is not how the cap works, especially since there is 3 void years on his deal.

The 6 for 1 idea is total nonsense. If they were actually worried about the cap, they would have already extended Pickens. You are making claims based on totally false information.
Apparently you did not comprehend my posts.

Lol yes I did. You have plainly wrong information i.e. the Cowboys acquiring two fourth-round picks lol

No. 20: Green Bay → Dallas → Philadelphia.

Multiple trades:

Green Bay → Dallas (PD). Green Bay traded a first-round selection (20th overall), a 2027 first-round selection and DT Kenny Clark to Dallas in exchange for DE Micah Parsons.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2026_NFL_draft#cite_note-26

Dallas → Philadelphia (D). Dallas traded a first-round selection (20th overall) and a 2027 seventh-round selection to Philadelphia in exchange for a first- and two fourth-round selections (23rd, 114th and 137th overall).

Misunderstood what was said, my mistake.

But the reality is that it doesn't matter. They could have traded down from their own pick and gotten more capital than that. It didn't require trading Micah to do that.

The 6 for 1 thing is still total nonsense, and the logic is poor because it ignores the reality of the salary cap.

What's more, 29 or 22?

Most excited I been about this defense in some time. Only spot I think we need to address-minus injuries- is linebacker and a pass rush specialist. I have faith in the new DC. So, let's put the bullets in the barrow and let's get that thing to smoking.

Is this your idea of personal accountability for being wrong?

Sure, I was wrong about the two fourths.

But it doesn't really change anything lol. The idea that there is some 6 for 1 trade, inclusive of free agents, is total nonsense.

What is more, 29 or 22? Are you going to be accountable to not understanding the cap?

It changes everything. But it speaks to your character that you attempt to gloss over it.

I’m not interested in your subjective, ‘cook the books math’ where you cherry pick numbers that fit your narrative while ignoring facts and the numbers that don’t. I see through what you’re attempting to do. And I’d venture to say that clearly others do too.

Lmao. This is a crazy two lines. Your opinion on my character doesn't matter.

The numbers are the numbers, there's nothing subjective about it. The Cowboys could have acquired all the same players even with Micah on the roster. Nothing is cherry picked - it is dollars in vs. dollars out.

Not sure how you can say I'm subjective when you can't answer which number is bigger lmao.

Your repeated lol’s and lmao’s are cute. You sound like a 10-year-old girl.

Oh look. There’s another one. So cute.

Reality of the salary cap: Micah costs 47 mil/season. Won't win that way.

No they couldn't have. Not even close.

The defense could make them a contender. However it is unlikely. What I think happens is the defense ends up improving from last to near average while the offense stays in the top 5. Dallas will get bounced in the playoffs but it'll be exciting to at least make it that far with a little hope.

I mean, as long as the offense is at least as good (if not better) as last year and Aubrey is still automatic, then yes. I think we COULD be a contender...the Rams still concern me if healthy. But I think we should have a window of about 3 years IF Jerry plays it right with Dak's likely last few seasons
