20 Questions: 11 - which position is the most pressing need

A lot of good answers. We aren't getting a new GM or QB, so let's leave them out of this discussion. That leaves DT, CB & RB (with OT, LB & Safety getting an honorable mention for being questionable).

My primary concern is with our CBs. I'm not sure if Shavon Revel & Trevon Diggs will be ready for the start of the season. It's kind of doubtful they'll be 100%, even if they are playing. Right now we have 1 proven starter and a bunch of backup level players at CB until they start.

I've read where Kaiir Elam is supposed to be better at playing press man coverage than he is at playing zone. Didn't really see many Bills games, but I also read they mainly play zone coverage. This might explain why he didn't fit in there.

Of course I read here on CZ that Eberflus prefers zone coverage. Hopefully he'll figure what works best with the players he has & make whatever adjustments he has to.

The consistent problem is the GM and we will get a new eventually.

I'm more than anxious for some additional help to be provided at the RB position. Hopefully, another RB, with a solid reputation could be added to this RB corps in the weeks yet to come.

It's getting awfully close to a time when this FO should see fit to procure the depth that's very likely needed for a successful RB-by-committee approach for the offense.

Let's supply the RB corps with the depth that we're likely to require. Let's face it; Williams and Sanders hardly own a level of reliance to be satisfied with, while Mafah is untested and unproven.

How can anyone be happy with our RB situation in Dallas? There is no diamond in the rough, it's just all rough. I hear people say this position was addressed in the draft with two picks, but I say it was addressed too late in the draft. They should have rolled both those picks into one pick earlier in the draft.

It will not be a RB. We invested draft capital in that position. We will most likely already be parting ways with Deuce. So we added another vet back and part ways with our 7th rounder as well?

For a team that prides itself on building through the draft and not through FA, I don't see it happening.

Not including QB the most pressing need is LB. They have enough fat boys to get in the way at DT. They have spent enough draft pics and money on offense too. Without some good seek and destroy LBs to fill the gaps the defense will struggle. I really would like to see them move Parsons back and play him at MLB position. They could still blitz him some but it would create more of a problem because the whole idea is to take away the middle of the field first. With Parsons speed no TE is running away from him and he could actually cover some WRs but he needs some time to learn.

The likelihood that we'll be parting ways with Deuce leaves room for another acquisition. I still believe it would be a good idea to stabilize our depth at RB with a recognizable name to add. There are many others that might agree with that proposition. We currently have nothing but hopes for those already in the fold. Most are shaky ones, at that. We'll eventually see what happens.

I am not questioning if it is a good idea. We drafted 2 running backs for a reason. You think they will add another vet a cut a draft pick?

When was the last time a draft pick did not make the Cowboys roster?

Pick almost any season ever...

Several different answers here from the writers. As we will get a variety of them from our fans as well.
Though 2 say CB, because of the injuries.
DT and Swing Tackle are the others, with a mention of RB.

WR was an answer that would have been in the mix. But the Pickens trade took care of that.

What position do you have and why?
QB

Why?

Our starter is a bad NFL player, over the hill (well my bad: he never was on the hill) and injury prone.

Just imagine having a at least good QB under center playing for us. Most of the younger fans havent witnessed this. No more talk about run defense or else. Oposing defenses finally had to come up with a real game plan instead of just dropping people back daring our bum to beat them with his famous accuracy.

Lol.

Better flip that question. Wouldnt be such a long list.

Do you follow our draft? If so you should have noticed that we are very bad at drafting (opposed to what out PR office tries to sell to the casual fan). Just look at our last drafts from 2016 until today. How many first day starters were we able to draft?

Since 2016?

I don't remember exactly everyone who was a pure day 1 starter that they drafted, but the Cowboys have 115 starting seasons from players drafted since 2016, 26 pro bowls, and 6 1st team all pro awards. I would be that is ahead of 85% of the rest of the league. Drafting ability is among the least of my concerns when it comes to the Cowboys.
