20 Questions: 19, Who will Emerge as RB 2

Based on what we have heard and read it's Blue. The Cowboys seem totally dug in with him due to the improvements they have seen. I know some want the Cowboys to sign Chubb or Kamara but I don't see the Cowboys making a move like that unless there is an injury.

It should probably be Davis given his experience & productivity when given a chance.

We all want Blue & Mafah to become contributors though & I understand why Blue might be given that designation with a good camp even if he doesn't "beat" Davis in TC.

If Williams goes down they might as well just go to five wide receiver sets

RB2 doesn't really matter. It's mostly just packages for players.

Mafah will likely be the true backup, but the best thing for this offense would be for Blue to be engaged on like 35% of snaps. Blue is the one with a unique skillset.

Mafah would be the replacement if Williams is injured. Broaddus has brought up though that if Blue proves himself that he should be the early down back and then Williams would be the 3rd down back and closer like Marion Barber was to Felix Jones.

I don't think they paid Javonte to relegate him to 3rd downs. I could see that being flipped, actually.

It looks like Mafah would start if Williams went down. Blue is number 2 to Williams and Mafah.

Where did you read that? I do not see a world where we have 2 newbies as RB1 and RB2...if so, we're toast or would need to pick up a vet

I'd like to see Williams be given a rest and these other guys step up.

Do we still need lupke??
Luepke still has a role in the offense. But is it enough to justify a roster spot. Especially if Mafah can do what Luepke can do.

Post of your life!!! Exactly what I was thinking, can we maybe use a TE in his role to get these guys all on the field for game day

I think Mafah is going to be a good running back here if he gets his chance. Leupke ain't no slouch either he's just not used much. Blue makes everyone on the field look slow, and when he gets Schottenheimer's and Klayton Adams total trust he will have his share of highlight type plays. Davis makes his share of good runs as well . Williams is a true bell cow and the starter, this running back room looks pretty good, the cupboard is far from bare behind Williams.

I agree, it would be sweet if Williams could get some rest , to save his legs. I love Leupke, I think he needs to be used a little more at times especially in short yardage plays running the ball. And I like fullbacks who are good receivers who can get you some first downs when you really need one.
