Consensus is he does not have to be All Pro. And they think he can handle the status well. But as one says, still give him a few years as it is a change. Though he handled his college career stats very well also.

The expectations are, for the most part, distanced from reality.

He's going to be a great player on day 1 but the idea that he's going to singlehandedly elevate the defense more than on the margins is exaggerated.

Downs reminds me of Darren Woodson.
- Woodson played SS, FS and Nickel CB.
- Very high football IQ.
- Lockeroom leader.
- On-field leader.
- He elevated the play of his teammates.

The media hype or lack of will be based on INTs and highlight reel plays, not on his overall impact on the defense.
