20 Questions: 8 - does the new culture translate to the field

I'm sure it will to some extent, but the real question IMO is how does the culture hold up once adversity hits. Its too easy to talk up culture in July....Evaluate the culture when they are coming off a loss, the WRs are frustrated with the QB/play caller, and Micah or Jerry says something controversial to the media.

Until they start giving out awards for best offseason culture, its just a buzzword that doesn't really mean anything. Jason Garrett and Mike McCarthy talked about culture as well.

Whoa, may get some good comments from this one. Some decent answers from the writers.

To me, as pointed out, you still need to make plays. As to why I always said, the "culture" is mostly fan and media myth. Just another way for both to put down the team.

@Coogiguy03 here is your chance to give us your continued thoughts and comments about "culture" :muttley:

Yes, it should translate to on the field, as from team camaraderie that Brian and the staff have put in place.
As they prepare to work together as a team, and not individuals. If you want to call it "culture", so be it. I call it teamwork.

Even Jerry is "all in" on this new approach.
in those 3 straight 12 win seasons under Mike, was our "Culture bad?" I agree with you, culture is a myth. ALL teams have players that get along great, and players that dont like each oter. Its not possible to be on a team of 53 individuals and like everyone.

The Bills havent been to a Sb since 1993..... so are you telling me they have a winning culture right now? If so, how?
What about the Ravens..... this current team has some great culture? How? They have a 2 time MVP and he cant "Win the big game."
How about the Washington team? winning culture? why, because they had a surprisingly good season last year out of nowhere and YEARS of sucking?
I dont hear much about the "Culture," in Houston.

Its just like everything else, if we pin (Enter subject line here) on the Cowboys, we can milk this topic for all its worth. Both in here and on Tv sports shows that want viewers. We all know talking Cowboys is good for business.

We hear EVERY season about how ong it has been since the Cowboys have won a title. EVERY season and probably at some point during every game.

But, I fond it hilarious that nobody talks about that same subject when 20 or so other teams come up. Hell, isn't the Jets last SB in 1969? I cant remember that EVER coming up about the Jets.

Losing a game doesnt mean your culture sucks, and winning games doesnt mean your "Culture," is good.

Turpin gets arrested and everyone was running back to the "Same old culture."
Was anybody taking about crappy culture when KC's Rice was turning the local highway into the Indianapolis 500?

What's more likely to happen game 1? Eagles running the ball when and where they want or Dallas stopping the run?
That's called reality not debbie downer.
No it is called a new season, where things can and will change.
It is called wait and see ... but hey, choose to be negative and miserable about the team.

I am not expecting any miracles, but I sure will not be miserable about it.

When this team gives me a reason to start drinking the kool-aid I will. Until then I am waiting for some something that is a different color and flavor than what is currently served.

I am not drinking the kool-aid either.
But I will not drink my own stale water either, over and over.

You don't change the vibe by talking about it. Talking about it, especially to the extent it is being talked about this summer, is foolish and detrimental to the cause.

You create the vibe through example and accountability. The coaches set the tone, the locker room leaders set the tone. The vibe builds through shared hard work, shared trials and tribulations and maybe going out and getting hammered together a time or two. Guys who aren't buying in are handled appropriately.

Making it the hot offseason topic for media and fans is senseless.
Fully agree, but attempting to talk things into existence then using an excuse or a scapegoat when it doesn’t happen is exactly how this organization works. Repeatedly.

Frustrating but Jerry is never changing. Don’t be awful on the field…and sell, sell, sell.

Still waiting to hear why a culture change is necessary in the first place and who is responsible for that being necessary. I think we all know the answer, and there will be no changes. It’s just another sell job because he knows certain fans have had it with his act.

exactly what will that look like? Win a division? Win a divisional game? win nfc title? or win the SB? which thing needs to happen before you say woa... we are good?

Andy Reid coached for like 75 years before arriving in KC. He had exactly zero rings before arriving in KC. Do you think he showed up and made some drastic changes to how he coaches?

No, I don’t, but that and everything you’re saying proves the point. This culture change thing is all BS.

Means zero. What’s changing? And “culture” is probably the wrong word if anything actually is.

I was trying to make the point...... the only thing that changed for the "Great," Andy Reid, is that Larry Bird walked through the door...... in the name of Patrick Mahomes. And just like that, the "culture," was a winner.

It starts with having a QB, and a defense that can stop the run. How about not getting the brakes beat off every time they play someone decent. Lets start there. Then Ill sit down and have a drink.

ah.... so that means you dont even need to watch this season, because we have a qb that cant get it done, so as long as Dak is in there, no need to watch.

Very well said. Loved this quote from your post, “You create the vibe through example and accountability.”

We won’t know anything about this culture until the games matter and the team has had to face adversity. A culture cannot be measured until it has faced many tests, and the accountability that has to be there is in place.

The only accurate grade for this team, it’s coaches and it’s culture right now is an “I” for incomplete.

Idk if he is being negative, more of a realist. You can say all the right things in the offseason but it’s how you respond once you get punched in the mouth that matters most. Each time we’ve been punched, this team folds.

On a positive note, between the new staff, free agent signings, and draft picks there are 30+ new faces in the building but the owner is another story

Not to mention a top shelf defense ranked 2nd twice in the last three years that saved them twice in the 2023 playoffs when Mahomes struggled.

Anyone thinking KC is 100% Pat Mahomes isn’t paying full attention.

Andy Reid won 10 playoff games while coaching the egirls, including an NFC championship and SB appearance, all with the above average Donovan McNabb.

you know how many coaches that I could start naming that made a SB APPEARANCE>? A ton You think that number 2 defense takes them to ANY SB wins if Mahomes wasnt their QB? Not paying attention? Mahomes has been in the league as a starter for 7 seasons, played in 7 straight afc title games and 5 SBs. Dont talk to me about any defense or any coach. Reid was coaching KC for 5 seasons prior to Mahomes taking over and had a 1-4 playoff record... Id call that very Jason Garretty..... you know, basically he sucked. Mahomes took over and wala..... all of the sudden those defense were "Getting it done," and Andy clearly started putting in the extra time required to become a champion and now possibly the greatest coach ever........... trust me, I pay plenty attention. No mahomes, no titles, I dont give 1 damn what the defense did in any single game.
