They got smoked by every good quarterback they played, the defense will probably be the same and they should be better rushing the passer with 4.

It's just health and a more difficult schedule that are going to be their biggest problems, not what they lost on defense.
They got SMOKED by Pateick Mahomes?

Is ANY loss getting "smoked"?

I think the real factor is Hurts.

We KNOW what Dak is. A solid, above average QB. He's 30 yrs old now.

I'd argue nobody really knows what Hurts is. He's still incredibly young and evolving.

2 seasons ago he was a great runner...but a bad passer feom the pocket. Probably bottom 3 in the league in the pocket. He was abysmal at times in the pocket. They tried to get new QBs b4 last season (Watson, Russel Wilson)....but couldn't.

Then last season, unexpectedly, out of nowhere...Hurts went from bottom 3 pocket passer+ dynamic runner, to solidly above average pocket passer+still dynamic runner (i.e. MVP runner up).

That was a metamorphic rise between Year 1 to Year2.

The big question is what happens feom Year 2 to Year3. Does he drop back down, a one year wonder? Does he cone back the exact same, and has reached his plateue? Or does he take ANOTHER big leap from year 2 to year 3, as many QBs do who are on the path to greatness?

Any of those 3 possibilities exist...and nobody in here, or in the Eagles headquarters, will really know which one will happen until the games start.

If he gets worse....we'll win the NFC E. If he is the same....it will be a dogfight. If he takes another leap forward this offseason similar to the leap he took the previous offseason, they will have a QB on par with Mahomes and will own the division for a decade.

We will know in a few months!

Don't feel like giving a legit response cuz anything positive posted towards a possible advantage to the Eagles results in another juvenile "You're an Eagles Fan" insult so I'll stick with - no comment.

The praise of Hurts from sports media, and here, is over the top. Similar to Herbert. It’s just ridiculous July football talk. Hurts is like a UFO. I see something, but I’m not sure what it is. I’ll give him this much, he won’t fail for lack of effort.

Default?

Come on, they had the best roster in the NFC. It's bizarre that we can't just admit reality around here. The Eagles were the best team in the NFC last year.

Will they repeat this year? No idea. NFC is pretty lame. If the 49ers get healthy and good QB play, they are a threat. If we stay healthy, we are a threat. I am not sure I am buying the Lions hype but if the pundits are right, they are a threat. After that? Not much.
It truly is mind-boggling here in how the immaturity of being unable to accept that other teams have good players and possibly even better than some on this team.
A bunch of 12 year olds...

Hurts has had one good year. You'll see a drop off as coordinators have had a year to adjust. Not saying he'll be terrible just that he won't surprise people as much this year.

Nick Harris: When it comes to having a complete roster, it's hard to argue any team in the league having a more rounded group than the Eagles. That being said, the Cowboys do have weapons to match theirs. In the receiving game, the Cowboys have Trevon Diggs and Stephon Gilmore to match up with A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith. Up front, the Cowboys have arguably the best offensive line that Philadelphia's elite pass rushing group will face all season. All in all, the Eagles have elite weapons, but so does Dallas. Both games – or possibly all three – will be certified wars as both teams have the tools to match up with the other.

This iis Dallas vs. Philadelphia and recent history as well as Dak's memories...advantage Dallas. Beat 'em the tougher 3 straight!
Our QB is a better passer. Huge advantage.

Oh, so that's how they ended up w/ the best pass D in the NFL, getting smoked. Got it.

Their defense wasn't good last year - Hargreave is really the only loss that matters.

What they'll likely miss is Seumalo and Dillard, assuming they don't have the ridiculous run of health on OL again.
What? The 2nd best D in the NFL wasn't good last year? Man, you gotta stop.

- Eagles lost both coordinators of both sides of the ball .

- did previous OC (who departed for a new HC gig) receive biggest credit for Jalen Hurts monster development and emergence ?

- how big of an impact with the key FA vets Eagle lost ? ala DT Javon Hargrave... safety CJ Gardner.... linebacker TJ Edwards ?

- What big name FA vets have Cowboys lost ? ... TE Dalton Schultz ?

- What big name coordinators have Cowboys lost ? ..Kellen ?

- Compare new key players from both teams ...

- Compare which NFC East team had the best offseason... ala between NFL draft, trades and FA

Their QB coach was in demand for open OC positions, he’s been Hurts’ QB coach, Eagles gave him the promotion for continuity sake and he’s apparently highly regarded. If he’s successful to any degree, he’ll be a head coach in 2024. Counting on a drop off by their offense is little more than a pipe dream.

When your defense gives up 38 then yes they got smoked. They could not even slow him down in the second half. Whenever they faced a good QB they wilted which sadly means that defense will at worst be the same.

Yes, Mahomes smoked them. No argument there.

OK, so let's look down the list of "good" QBs they faced:

Cousins: 7pts
Barbie: 21 pts
Rodgers: 33

Man, that's about it. Oh, Goff was pretty good, he rang up 35 on them. Left Dak out, but he rang up 40.

Looks like you have something there.

How? They got 70 sacks from their defensie line and 11 of those came from the interior of one man by himself in Hargraves. How is that not gonna be missed?
Jalen Carter. Nolan Smith. That said I would definitely take the under on a 70 sack number.
