Well, I just viewed this again after not seeing it for years.

I'm still scratching my head about the ending.

What are your thoughts on this "trip" of a movie?

You can get through it if you play Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here instead of the dialogue and music from the movie.

My thoughts are that the ending is an abstract montage of birth, life and death. I don't pretend to fully understand Kubrick's (sp?) interpretation of how humanity would deal with such an unearthly set of events at the movie's conclusion, but it always fascinates the heck out of me every time I watch it.
