2004 2nd pick, instead of Rogers...

I wanted Nathan Vasher who I think was still on the board late 3rd or early 4th. He had 5 INTs last year for the Jets.

Vasher is a stud. He killed his draft stock by showing up to his pro day with extra weight (to show he was a big corner), however he didn't run well with the weight. Once he dropped back to his normal weight he was a badass like hewas in college.

Bull****! All you dumb idiots had a hard on for Greg Jones. JJ was an unknown , so you all wanted was a known commodity. You think you know, but you don't know, you just don't know!

Why do you guys do this to yourselves? We picked who we picked and we live with it good or bad. I hate see Rogers out but that is life in the NFL. Playing the what if game seems fruitless.

Who would you have taken with pick number 52, now that Rogers appears to be a bust? Here is a list of player that were taken after Rogers and before Peterman in the third. Which one should have been a Cowboy?
2nd round after Rogers:

# TEAM PLAYER POS SCHOOL
53 Seattle Michael Boulware SS Florida Satte
54 Denver Darius Watts WR Marshall
55 Jacksonville (from Green Bay) Greg Jones RB Florida State
56 Cincinnati (from Miami thru New England) Madieu Williams FS Maryland
57 Tennessee Anrwan Odom DE Alabama
58 San Francisco (from Philadelphia) Cody Spencer LB North Texas
59. Cleveland (from Indianapolis) Sean Jones FS Georgia
60 New Orleans (from St. Louis) Courtney Watson LB Notre Dame
61 Kansas City Kris Wilson TE Pittsburgh
62 Carolina Keary Colbert WR Southern California
63 New England Marquise Hill DE LSU

Third round # TEAM PLAYER POS SCHOOL
64 Arizona Darnell Dockett DT Florida State
65 San Diego (from New York Giants) Nate Kaeding PK Iowa
66 San Diego Nick Hardwick C Purdue
67 Oakland Stuart Schweigert FS Purdue
68 Indianapolis (from Cleveland) Ben Hartsock TE Ohio State
69 Indianapolis (from Atlanta) Gilbert Gardner LB Purdue
70 Green Bay (from Jacksonville) Joey Thomas CB Montana State
71 Tennessee (from Houston) Randy Starks DT Maryland
72 Green Bay (from from Washington thru Jacksonville) Donnell Washington DT Clemson
73 Detroit Keith Smith CB McNeese State
74 Buffalo Tim Anderson DT Ohio State
75 Pittsburgh Max Starks OT Florida
76 New York Jets Derrick Strait CB Oklahoma
77 San Francisco Derrick Hamilton WR Clemson
78 Chicago Bernard Berrian WR Fresno State
79 Tampa Bay Marquis Cooper LB Washington
80 Cincinnati Caleb Miller LB Arkansas
81 Washington (from New Orleans) Chris Cooley TE Utah State
82 Baltimore (from Minnesota) Devard Darling WR Washington State
83 Dallas Stephen Peterman OG LSU

I wanted Joey Thomas, Darnell Dockett or Derrick Hamilton( I think he's a Javon Walker type). I hated the Jacob Rogers pick, since he was a left tackle and we needed a right tackle. I wanted Kelly Butler from Pitt instead of Sean Ryan. Butler is a right tackle who was selected by Detroit and is expected to be the starter there this year. Hamilton is the all time leading receiver for Clemson and the all time leading return man for the ACC.

Parcells makes a habit of taking guys with injury histories(Rogers,Al Johnson,Chris Canty,Kevin Burnette). He drafts at least one a year. That is a concern.

Parcells has made a habit out of winning as well and has the record to show it.

sean jones and Kerry Kolbert would have been great

I hated this pick at the time and now I really hate it

None of these guys strike fear in the heart of an opposing team.

At the time I could have taken Dockett, Randy Starks or perhaps Greg Jones (though by the draft it was noted his Senior Bowl performance came as a fullback, not a halfback and it was known he wasn't interested in blocking..). Dockett was probably my favorite based on his Senior Bowl performance; just he would have been a 3 technique DT on a team with an excellent 3 technique DT.

Well, neither does Rogers, now does he?

I am not so sure about you, but Dockett looked pretty good the other night.

Taking a LT with as much injury history as Rogers had in the 2nd rd. was not the brightest decision, I think we all agree. However, to say the man's career is over when he has to have the same type of surgery that Al Johnson recovered fully from, & had a good season the following year is a little pre-mature, don't you think?

I mean, Roger's shoulders had healed from last year's surgery, and he was doing well. He had that one minor setback with his surgically-repaired shoulder 10 days ago, but was back w/the first team after missing only one practice. I'm sure most sports medicine experts would agree that having a minor setback, whether it be from breaking up old scar tissue or creating micro-tears in the tissue from the intense workouts, is natural.

Dude put in long hours in off-season rehab & workouts without any major problems. In fact, BP said Rogers was light years ahead of where he was last year. As usual, I think we're jumping the gun a little by blowing this player off-I hope the 'Boys have more patience. This guy wasn't an All-American for nothing! He proved he can come back last year, and my money says he will be our starting RT by mid-season 2006.
