11. Dallas Cowboys
Pick: DeMarcus Ware, LB
Do-Over: Cameron Wake, DE
Comment: Wake is a high-energy pass rusher with the speed, quickness and athleticism to wreak havoc off the edges. While he is not quite up to Ware's level, Wake's numbers are near the top of the charts over the past few seasons.

20. Dallas Cowboys
Pick: Marcus Spears, DT
Do-Over: Jay Ratliff, DE
Comment: To the Cowboys' credit, the team selected Ratliff in the seventh round of the 2005 draft. Based on his career production as a four-time Pro Bowler, he would be viewed as one of the top defenders in the draft in a re-do.

So much hilarity here.. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap20...aaron-rodgers?campaign=Twitter_writers_brooks

MBIII going 5th overall? Wouldn't Cedric Benson be that pick? The whole premise was confusing.

Man, that's a horrible draft overall. Outside of Rodgers and Ware, you have a steep dropoff.

Barber at #5? Not many teams would want to spend a #5 on someone who can only play for seven years.

MBIII 5th overall? You serious, Clark?

And Marcus Spears going higher than where we picked him?

Nothing to self to disregard future Bucky Brooks opinions.

Spears going 19th pretty much same, I think he was a solid 3-4 DE but not worth a 1st round pick, maybe not even 2nd.

Here is the irony with Spears.... the Packers preferred him to Aaron Rodgers and had hoped Spear would have fallen to them.

Well, according to this we had a nice draft. Ware, Barber, Spears and Ratliff ended up being first round do overs lol

Some of those are dumb though like guys who didn't play for long like Edwards, Barber, Merriman, Cadillac Williams...ect

7 years is a long time for a running back.

Refresh my memory. Why didn't the Cowboys take Aaron Rodgers? (instead of Spears) Romo was a developmental guy at that point. Was Parcells really that high on Bledsoe? I wonder if Jerry takes him if Parcells wasn't there at that time.

Just shows how bad the 2005 draft was. Really surprising that we came out with as many solid to great players that we did. I mean 4 guys here were redrafted in the 1st round... In the top 20 actually.

It was our last great draft. We need something very much like it to get back where we need to be.

Same reason was the other 22 teams ahead of the Packers didn't select Rodgers and why he free fell on draft day:
  • He put teams off with a perceived attitude
  • Average athlete
  • Average arm
  • Average size
  • Not even good enough to get a D1, D2, or D3 scholarship. Ended up going the junior college route for his 1st two years
Funny thing is by all accounts most of those things were true. Rodgers is a rare example of a QB who had to sit for three years, took advantage of sitting behind a HOF QB, and became better.

Again, the Packers preferred Spears. The took Rogers because he was the BPA.

Great question. I suspect Parcells had no intention of playing a rookie because he knew he wouldn't be here long enough.
