FA

i have hopes of atleast 2 FA OL signings.(guard)
Deilman, or Davis and Wayne Gandy
Deilman will most likely cost the most, so my preference is Davis, and Gandy. Gandy can jump right in and play 4 spots.

CB
Randall Gay, Rod Hood
I'm more into the established young vet moreso then the name guy. This would allow henry to play the nickle on nickle downs that he's been so good at throughout his career, and save some yrs on his beaten up body. HE IS NOT GOING TO PLAY FS.

QB
Tim Rattay
Solid guy who could come in and start a few games if theres a injury. question is the money.

all lightly priced names and afforable

Dream Draft

rd 1.
if levi brown is avail, i say dallas doesnt keep the clock counting past 15 seconds. but he probably wont be there. so my choice
Robert Meacham WR tenn

rd 2.
all purpose FB. polite and hoyte are limited
Brian Leonard FB rutgers

rd 3.
Something about this guy makes you wonder if he's going to be something
Tony Ugoh arkansas

rd 4.
Henry's injuries are going to linger, history shows that as every yr he's having some type of leg issue
David Irons CB auburn

rd 5.
Paul Poliai NT utah

rd 6.
Dan Stucci Notre Dame

rd 7.
Ramzee Robinson CB alabama

rd 7.
Ryan Moore WR miami

As much as I would love for Dallas to get some youth at the WR spot, I just don't know if WR in the 1st is all that great unless its the #1 guy. I think eqaul production from the spot that a WR would assume can be had later in the rounds. I think 2nd or 3rd would be a good spot to get a WR instead of the 1st. I just don't think there will be a great drop off in what a 2nd or 3rd would do as opposed to a 1st. Potential to be a #1 in the future would go to a 1st rounder but potential is a big if in itself.

I think that you should draft someone who can help right away in the 1st round. Not many teams have so few holes that they can just go BPA every year and Dallas definently doesn't have that luxury so they should be able to get someone who can step into a starting role.

Im hoping for OLine in the 1st. Praying like all hell that its OLine and after that FS. I don't feel like watching Davis play FS another year and don't care to see if Watkins can adjust. Get someone in there that can get things done right now. After that though......WR would be next on my list.

well this postering by jerry i dont know if owens will be back. would be a stupid move if he wasnt back. and me personally i believe in drafting BPA and IMo if meacham is still there at 22 he would be the BPA. the guy has the hands and the speed. thats what dallas' problem was with parcells. he always drafted players that fit his type of system and let alot of talent pass by. u fill needs in FA and draft talent

and other then thomas and brown do u really thinkt heres a Ol worth drafting in the first?

Jerry has made two unequivocal statements this off-season.

1. TO is coming back.

2. He's focusing on the defense in the draft.

not really.....kind of holding onto a prayer there.

If Owens wasn't back, I think WR gets stepped up. I was just thinking that a WR who will be the #3 options in the 1st round might not be that great of a pick.

But yeah, Owens gone.....gotta push WR to the top of the list.

Is Meacham really fast like Smith or fast like Boldin and TO who just seem to run faster than their 40 times come game day? What is his 40?

lol u can go to any of the interviews he did after signing wade. he said he was favoring 1 side, but wade kept popping in his head. and he said "he couldnt live without fixing the defense" and that was ultimately what made him pick wade. see like u dont pay very much attention to stuff written

i think more quick rather then fast. but he seems to never be caught from behind. i think its like boldin and owens where he's just real physical and that keeps the cb off balance. which is really what dallas should be looking for. as they already have the speed with glenn.

Leaning towards a choice =/= unequivocal public statements.

But whatever.

Hey LatinMind I like the way you think. Glad your "dream FA and Draft" wasn't one of those Commander-esque spending spree dreams. I'd like to have Gay as the 3rd corner, good to have if Henry goes out there and plays hurt another year also. I still want to see how well Watkins can do though so I don't know about moving henry to safety.

hmmm, he went from saying "he's definitely going to be back and I'm definitely paying the bonus a few weeks ago to this:

Will T.O. stay or go?
Jerry is on record as wanting the local media to "stop the crap" in regard to speculating whether a certain receiver will return to the Cowboys next season.

Jerry has said T.O. will be back, so it must be true, no matter the missing nameplate above T.O.'s Valley Ranch locker.

Or perhaps not. Just read this nugget from Peter King on page 98 (most of which is a story on Jason Garrett) of this week's non-swimsuit edition of Sports Illustrated:

Terrell Owens, due a $3 million bonus if he's on the Cowboys' roster in June, is no lock to get it. New coach Wade Phillips said last week that Owens is "part of the Dallas Cowboys family," but owner Jerry Jones has the final call, and he says he hasn't made a decision on the wideout yet.

UPDATE: Jerry said Thursday night that he expects T.O. back ... probably.

thats wavering...it is not a definite he is gonna be back...its also why he has nothing in his lokcer or even his name on it'

and I am looking for the other quote, but this week Jones was asked about the draft and said it would be "best player available again" and acknowledged that he knew the team hadnt used a 1st rd pick on offense since David LaFleur in 1997, and basically admitted it might be time again...he didnt say anything about this being a defense heavy draft...do you have anything to show otherwise?

He took his nameplate off before Jerry said anything. Let's not get misleading on our facts here.

Jerry has repeated over and over that Terrell will be back. Until I see a quote that says otherwise...

he might be back...but it definitely isnt a given now...if you can tell the difference between what Jones said 3 or 4 weeks ago and what he just said this week, something is wrong...obviously Owens didnt believe it was a given he'd be back did he?

and you still havent shown us anything about where Jones said this would be a defense first draft

Direct quotes. Not seeing them.

Jerry said it in an interview recently. I don't have a link handy, sorry. If you don't believe me on that one, it doesn't hurt my feelings.
