I think Jones holds alot in what we will do this season. If he blows up for 1400 yards are better we resign him and go after Fergs replacement in Glenn Dorsey. We are a young playmaking DT away from becoming a dominating defense. If Jones has an average year, I would love for Ray Rice to be the pick. The kid has the build of a great runningback. Another impact on what we do in the draft is if Miles Austin, Sam Hurd and Isaih Stanback turn into decent recievers. If not Adarius bowman would be the 2nd pick I would take in the 1st.

So may picks would be
1st Dorsey, Rice or Cason
1st Bowman, Okam, Carr

The only way he "Blows Up" for 1400 is if you don't believe the coahes when they say MB3 will be more involved, or JJ gains 6 YPC.

No disrespect but going with another OT doesn't make sense after drafting Free and Marten, who the Cowboys are high on. Same goes for DE, unless Canty or Spears bomb, which I doubt under the new D scheme.

I would agree with Cason with one pick and the other pick should be Sweed from Texas or Early Doucet, LSU.

Hey, I could live with it if the Boys went CB and WR in the first round, but I can also make a case for going OT... remember, either Free or Marten (or both) might wind up moving to OG...

The Boys have gotten a good start on building a dominating OL for the future, but they're not there yet, and they shouldn't rest until they have the best line in the game...

Just like they did when Jimmy was running the show...

Although they will continue to split carries Wade says he will get the ball to his playmakers, and Garrett saw first hand what Emmitt did by continuing to feed him. I am a big Barber fan but I think in a contract year Jones will blow up, he also has to backup what he said about Parcells holding him back. Personally, I think we have an future all-star in Barber but if he doesn't beat Jones out in training camp, I look for Jones to have a 60% to 40% spilt with Barber.

Oh how I would love to disagree with you but I can't. I have watched Limas in every single college game he has ever played and the fact that so many people are projecting him to go so high in the 2008 draft is absolutely mind-boggling. Yes he had a good season last year and yes he has the size you look for in a Franchise WR but the combination of his other attributes (average speed, poor leaping ability, etc.) should make him a second round pick at best.

I always felt like the only real thing missing in Limas Sweed is that "give me the freaking ball, if its in the air its MINE!" attitude that Roy Williams (WR) had at UT.

Limas is an incredible physical specimen, he just doesn't seem to have that "I'm gonna own every DB out there" attitude that you'd like to see in your #1 WR.

Limas Sweed is another guy who I really would prefer to not draft. He is very long and has great hands, but he makes DeWayne Jarrett look like Bob Hayes and often relies strictly on his size to create seperation, something he can get away with in college because the refs do not call PI nearly as tightly as they do in the NFL. We have seen how this skill set translates, poorly I might add, to the NFL on numerous occasions, the most recent being the case of Mike Williams out of USC.

Once again, your severe case of Aggie-itis overrules your good judgement...

For openers, Sweed is considerably faster than Jarrett or Williams ever dreamed of being... fast enough that he was an all-state hurdler in high school... a further indication of his speed are his 17 TD receptions, which have averaged 33.2 yards per catch...

Comparing Sweed to Williams and Jarrett is ridiculous, and makes me wonder if you've ever actually seen the guy play (more than the one game a year against the Aggies)...

Just for reference:

also a four-year letterwinner in track & field (hurdles) and basketball (forward) ... placed fourth in the 110m hurdles (14.10) at the 2003 Texas 4A track & field meet ... finished sixth as a junior (14.34) ... earned all-district honors in basketball as a junior after averaging 12 points and eight rebounds per game.

He may blow up, but even if his carries go down 10% he'll be at the 240(267 last year) mark. His career avrage is 4.0 and at 240 carries thats 960 yards. At 4 yards per he'd need 350 carries to get 1400. My best guess is he gets at least 50 less carries that go to MB3. THat leaves about 225 carries for JJ at BEST, maybe less. Even at 4.2 ypc, his career best, at 225 carries that's 9,450 yards. I don't see a BLOW UP. JJ is as good as gone after the year.

Now, I see this happening too, Julius Jones will have a break out year this year, either we resign him to a one year deal and trade him, or he gets a big contract from another team. So, we might get a # 2 pick for him for compensation pick.

Then, Flozell will be gone next year too, so Left Offensive tackes are in high demand, so he probably will sign a pretty decent contract with another team, remember we signed Leonard Davis for high contract. Granted, Flozell probably has only about 3-4 years left, but that probably will be enough to get a # 3 pick in compensation for him.

Dallas is real close I think to being a Super Bowl team, so I dont see Jerry Jones spending hardly any more big money on free agents next year. So, that should give us a # 2 and # 3 pick or a # 3 and # 4 pick compensation pick for Julius Jones and Flozell. Granted you cant trade compensation picks, but you knowing if you get those picks in next years draft, you can package your # 's 3 and # 4 pick in a package to move up with our other number 1 pick to get another impact player.

Finally, I see Greg Ellis being traded next year, because he will have a break out year, this year in Wade Phillips defense. So, someone like Denver (they always go after our defensive linemen, or a team that needs a pass rusher only, will trade for Greg Ellis,

I see us packaging Greg Ellis in a deal with some of our picks to get a really good player too.
Remember if JJ and Flo leaves next season via F/A we have to wait til 09 draft to get picks for them and it depends on how well they play also.......BTW no way in Hell we get a 2nd for JJ for a comp pick a 3rd maybe but probably a 4th......

I am sticking with HOG HEAVEN until we have to adjust......

Cleveland has not won a game yet, therefore, we have the #1 pick in 08

I do see a BLOW UP because of what I mention previously, you can guesstimate about all the numbers if you chose but if he doesn't get injured I look for Garrett to ride Jones all year which will produce very good numbers for him. I also think the long runs will be back. Maybe 1400 yds aren't possible but you never know. Anything between 1200- 1400 I say we resign him.

Gotta like Antoine Cason. Calais would be interesting if our ends don't produce. There aren't any WRs that are obvious top 10 choices right now, though someone could have a huge season. And I have no problem having someone compete with Free as the future LT, but top 5 pick on an LT is just painful for me. I like impact guys at the top there.

Exactly. Only QB is more important.

I think the decision has already been made within the organization to replace him after 07. You DO NOT let your "franchise" player hit FA and Jeryy Jones CERTAINLY does not. They have made absolutely NO attempts to even talk extension. He will hit the FA market and he will be gone.

I think eduncan would cream himself if we drafted Cason.

Provided, he liked Cason....

DeWayne Jarrett was also an all-state track and field star in HS. Just because you are fast in high school doesnt mean you are fast in comparison to other D-1 and NFL players.

Another thing about Sweed is, despite his size, he doesnt have a lot of "spring" in his jump. He doesnt have Roy Williams' ability to go get a ball that is terribly overthrown. A tall receiver without good leaping ability is really nothing impressive.

Three guys that I really like...

Harry Douglas, WR, Lou - He is not a top 10 player, but he is impressive nonetheless. Every time I saw the Cardinals play this guy was making plays. He runs great routes and has great strength. He reminds me of Isaac Bruce.

Frank Okam, DT, Tex - At some point we are going to have to address the NT position. This guy has the physical tools and size to be a real factor.

Felix Jones, RB, Ark - He is overshadowed by Run DMC, but if he is in another program he is one of the Heisman front runners. He is not bad catching balls out of the backfield either.

Granted a LT won't rush for 1500yds or catch 15 tds, but he is asked to protect the biggest impact player on most offenses and keep him upright. Linemen make the offense go and if we have the opportunity to draft a franchise LT in the top 5, I'd have no problems w/ that.
