i can take getting beat by arsenal. 5-1 i thought was harsh but i can just about take. felt agrieved about being unfortunately 2 nil down after the first leg but arsenal were marginally the better team in glasgow.
eduardo's dive for the penalty though was an absolute joke. i used to like him, i wished him well when his leg was broken but his actions tonight were a sweary word disgrace! bad enough the dive for the penalty but he was actualy complaining to the ref afterwards that boruc hadn't been sent off. all respect and warm feelings i had previously towards this little rat of a man are well and truly gone.

arsenal on the whole i hope have a good season as i like the way they play football but i really hope eduardo has a horrible year.

i feel bad about the Eduardo goal. Really disappointed in him for diving like that.

Good luck to Celtic in the SPL.

Also, Daschoo, what are you feelings towards a hypothetical Celtic and Rangers moving to the EPL? Do you care about leaving the rest of the SPL to die?

wouldn't like to see it to be honest. we're scottish clubs and belong in the scottish league.
if it was to happen then i think celtic would probably be placed mid table while i feel rangers would avoid relegation. within say five years though when we had a few years of getting the same money as the english clubs i think we'd end up challenging the top four. players would be drawn to celtic and rangers due to the size and history of both clubs whereas currently we can't compete with teams who are looking to stay up due to the money teams down south can offer them.

Absolutely despicable dive. Shame, as I had a lot of respect for Eduardo, given what he's been through in the last year and a half. Hopefully he won't do it again.

i'm all for the ban as long as they're consistent with other players. maybe Gerrard, Ronaldo, and Drogba will be banned for the whole CL.

it is weird that Eduardo gets banned for his first dive when they're are so many other players who've been doing it for years.

To be fair most of the other players you mentioned wait for SOME contact before falling to the ground as if they have been shot, therefore making the most of what may have been a foul.

Whereas Eduardo didn't need any contact from the keeper, he just expected contact and when there wasn't any threw himself to the floor anyway. The worst aspect was him trying to then get the keeper booked or sent off.

It was a despicable act, and he should feel rightly ashamed.
Just as well I wasn't playing centre half against him, because I would have kicked him all around the park for the rest of the game after a stunt like that.

You have to wonder why a thug like Gerrard would dive like a girl?

The worst thing about Gerrard is that he has campaigned for a clampdown on diving, yet he is one of the worst around.

As far as today's win, United were very lucky. Fergie got the tactics all wrong. The penalty was lucky but I don't think it was a dive from Rooney.

it was but i have no real complaints over it as there was contact. he made the most of it but at the end of the day almunia caught him so in my opinion thats a penalty.

Rooney was going down before Almunia made contact.

My problem with the penalty was that Rooney's touch made the ball go WELL into the stands. It'd be like calling pass interference in the endzone when the ball ends up in the 2nd tier. ugh http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_teaSdfUvI

That felt like a Cowboys game. We did more to lose the game than ManU did to win (literally with Diaby's own goal lol)

The only difference between that and Eduardo's dive was that Celtic's keeper was able to avoid contact. Both players starting going down before contact (check out the trailing leg)

And the no-call on Arshavin was infuriating. If they're going to call the penalty on Rooney, then they have to call this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cd0CDft4bBQ

The only positive I can take from this is that we out played ManU at Old Trafford without a real Attacking Midfielder. Hopefully Cesc will come back in time for the Man City game. But what scares me, is that with all this talk about experience, it was a couple of our most experienced players that made critical mistakes - Almunia and Gallas.

I am an Arsenal fan, but I thought the whole Rooney situation was karma from Eduardos ridiculous dive in midweek.

I just hope this is the start of UEFA cracking down and we will soon see the end of the theatrics from the likes of fake Ronaldo, starfish Gerrard, shot by a sniper Drogba and the rest of the blatant frauds and cheats.

Almunia is just a mediocre player, he blew the goal in the pompey game. A totally needless goal to concede and he makes the wrong decision on a corner. His problems go back years, he gets beat on his shortside, he doesnt command his area, and he loses focus regularly.

it's also hilarious to see McGeady get sent off for diving over the weekend.

anyways, some good news:

http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=673135&sec=england&cc=5901

FIFA have banned Chelsea from registering any new players for two transfer windows, meaning they will not be able to recruit any new signings until January 2011, after being found guilty of inducing French teenager Gael Kakuta to breach his contract with Lens.

:laugh2:

agreed regarding almunia. i genuinely think my club has two better goalkeepers than him (boruc and zaluska). in england there are a list of better keepers in my opinion. in no particular order i rate craig gordon, rob green, van der saar, cech, reina, tim howard, brad friedal, mark schwarzer, shay given, david james, ben foster and thomas kuszcak higher than almunia.

on a seperate note chelsea have been banned from signing any new players until january 2011
