it's also hilarious to see McGeady get sent off for diving over the weekend.

the two incidents were nothing alike if you're getting at it being karma after eduardo. mcgeady went down under a challenge on the halfway line when it would have been to his advantage to stay on his feet as he was running into space against a stretched defence whereas a free kick on the half way line is hardly a dangerous situation.
from having seen the incident from several angles and taking into consideration what i have just said coupled with the fact that the linesman who was stood around 4 yards from the incident gave a freekick to celtic only to be overturned by a referee 20-25 yards away looking through a crowd of bodys and that the hibs defender said he didn't think it was a dive, i'm not convinced it was a dive. i don't think there was any contact but my honest feeling on it was that mcgeady has tried to twist to evade the tackle and get down the line and has gone over.
if it was a dive then i'd be unhappy with him firstly because i hate to see that aspect of the game and secondly because there was a far greater advantage to the team for him to run at the defence than win a free kick on the halfway line. tony mowbray the celtic manager was entirely correct in his post match comments that he didn't think that mcgeady would have been sent off if it wasn't for the furore over eduardo. not stating that it was predictable but my dad said to me on the friday that he was expecting a red card for diving for a celtic player at the earliest possible opportunity and low and behold...

i may be looking at the incident through green and white glasses right enough ;)

Norway vs Iceland which is just kicking off is a big game for not only us but Scotland as well. another win today and all of a sudden our longshot at getting a playoff is very much within reach

Edit: Ugh lucky to be tied at half pathetic play we're gonna lose :(

Rooney with another dive: http://www.101greatgoals.com/videodisplay/3357604/

Portugal is still very much in danger of not qualifying. Would be hilarious to see CR9 not make the World Cup.

El Salvador vs USA is tonight. After what they did to Mexico, we can't sleep on El Salvador. Hopefully, Costa Rica can beat Mexico.

I don't think it was a dive by Rooney, he was trying to foul the defender.
When he looked around at the ref, I think it was to protest his innocence.

I don't think anyone can quite understand how the ref made such a horrible decision. However, as it was a meaningless game I guess it doesn't have as much of an impact as if it had been a qualifier.

Hooray, South Africa here we come.:D

Now all we need is the English press to NOT hype the team up into thinking we're going to win the World Cup, and just let them get on with preparation.

Then we can set out to get to the last 8, and see where we go from there.

Shame about Scotland, they gave it a go against Holland, but just don't have enough quality players. That said, they lost it in the games against Norway and not in the inability to beat Holland.

typical scotland to be honest. the first time we turned up the whole group was the second half against macedonia. if we'd played like we did the last 135 minutes of the group throughout the campaign we'd have walked into the playoffs. yet another "glorious" failure!

as for england i'm starting to get worried that cappello might just be the manager to guide you to the trophy and then i won't be able to turn on the tele for about 25 years :banghead:

terrible weekend :(
On the contrary it was a great weekend! United was amazing today. Total injustice for Scholes though.

Adebayor, good player and all, was an absolute disgrace. It didn't mind the celebration, but the kick to Van Persie's face was ridiculous.

Van persie was flying wildly in at Adebayor, I dont see much wrong with it.

The statement he released reeks of sore loser.

Scholes got what he deserved, he has never been able to tackle properly and to go to ground when already on a yellow card was reckless and forced the referee to make a decision. Was it a bad tackle, not really, but as soon as you are off your feet making a tackle it's likely to be a yellow card.

As for Van Persie & Adebayor. If the referee had seen the incident properly he should have cautioned/sent them both off. Van Persie's tackle was dangerous & Adebayor retaliated.

As for the celebration, he shouldn't have done it but I'm sure the Gooners were giving him stick all game and that was his reply.

He got a yellow card, he has apologised, just move on.

This season is looking like it could be a belter, with the likes of Spurs & Man City being able to compete (on the field) with the top four maybe (just maybe) we will get someone different in the top four in May

If you are blaming him for that goal, I wouldn't want to work for you.

He was just unlucky that the ball came back off the post & hit him. He has to make an effort to save the ball, if he just left it & it went in he would have been rightly criticised .

That said, I don't rate him that highly as a keeper.

Spurs are still a full notch below the likes of United and Chelsea (and I suspect Liverpool, once they fully get their act together.) 4th spot certainly looks up for grabs though.

I think he may well be punished further and he fully deserves it. His foot came very close to RVP's eye.

Scholes' is indeed reckless, always has been. Doesn't justify the antics of Huddlestone in this particular case.
